Pawfee Shop

I live very close to this little coffee nook and I’m very happy about that! When I walk out my door I have options: in one direction on 60^th at Glisan you have the more dapper and chic Seven Virtues Coffee Roasters & Café, which is a great place to feel like a true adult while you drink your latte and eat your panini. In the other direction, you have the Pawfee Shop — an eclectic coffee house that not only serves DONUTS, but also serves you well-​crafted and tasty coffee drinks at very reasonable prices. I don’t have a dog but if I did I wouldn’t hesitate to bring it here — I’ve overheard (more like eavesdropped) the owners talking to each other about the appointments they have for the day and they are very knowledgeable and attentive when it comes to what needs to be done for the animals, which ones go well together, etc. I’ve only visited this place a handful of times and each time I’ve ordered whatever their special latte of the day/​month is and I have yet to be disappointed. I can’t speak to the level of the food (besides the donuts) because I haven’t ordered any, but from what I’ve seen it all looks delicious.
They have a very nice quality sound system in here and I love that they don’t play techy crap music — the last time I was in here they were blasting the «Gladiator» soundtrack. You could say that the place needs a little updating but I’m not focused on it — it’s kind of refreshing to visit a place that’s not trying to have a modern city-​like décor with straight lines and an incessantly sterile feel to it like every place else in this day and age.
The young lady who has taken care of me the several times I have been in here is very warm and polite.

This review is for the coffee shop, not the daycare with which I have no experience. I’ve driven by here several times going to the dog park and finally stopped in. I’m sorry that I did.
Walking in you find the counter roasting in the sun, with pastries directly in the heat. I even saw containers of yogurt sitting out on the back counter, with a variety of other things sitting next to it.
I ordered a panini and a coffee. This «panini» was two slices of sandwich bread, covered in seasoning, with a couple pieces of veggies and a slice of cheese between them. It was like eating a sandwich of greasy toast. The coffee was ok, but it was just plain iced coffee, nothing special, though I couldn’t find the sugar after I was offered the creamer (the carton directly handed to me, where I had to open the spout myself, with hands that had just left the dog park. At least that seemed to come from the fridge.) I would be really curious to know the sanitation score of this establishment, but I don’t intend to return. This experience cost $ 8 and change.

We live close to this doggie daycare and coffee shop. It is so convenient to walk down and have a coffee while our dog plays with other dogs. Although not a super fancy coffee shop, the lattes are delicious! The owner, Sherman, seems very skilled with dogs and gives training advice. I know of friends who have used him for training and overnight care, and are pleased with those services.

Love the new owners here! The coffee and food are terrific, it’s a great place to hangout while my dog plays inside and outside, and Sherman even provides some training and discipline for my pup while he’s there! He even spent a half hour on the phone with me giving me advice on how to integrate my second dog into the family when we brought her home. The dogs who play there all seem very happy and excited to be there, I know mine is! The whole family is fantastic. This place is wonderful and I’m excited to keep going.

Italian soda’s, dirty chai’s, iced mocha’s and the baked goods are delicious! Plus it’s also a doggie daycare and has a giant window in which you can be entertained by all the dogs! It’s a cozy little spot and the new owners are getting this place whipped into shape.

FYI: New owners. They are very sweet and it’s run all in the family!
My little dog pulls for two blocks in anticipation of spending the day there. They even do dog training and obedience work while he spends time socializing. Win-​win.

Great staff, foods here is great too. I will agree with some reviewers that the coffee can be inconsistent depending on who’s making your coffee, which is a shame since they use great beans. My dog is always exhausted when I pick him up, I just wish they had an expanded indoor area for rainy days.

Excellent coffee, Ninkasi, puppy love and delicious nibbles… you need to stop in and see for yourself how great this little place is!

The only really positive thing is that the staff was extremely friendly.
I’ve been on two occasions and was disappointed both times. My latte was watery and burnt, the smoothie was clearly Made from a powder of some sort and not real fruit and the grilled cheese was soggy and tasteless.
Maybe they should stick to dog sitting and leave the food/​drink out of it? I won’t be back

I am really bummed out by this place. My husband and I stopped in for a coffee and it was terrible. I order a latte and it was very watery and could barely pass as warm. My husband ordered a regular coffee that was so weak in flavor although it was at least hot. I was also a little bummed out on the pricing for what received. I will not be back:(

So a couple of weeks ago I got a dog and quickly remembered that this shop was down the street from my work. I have to admit at first the mere idea of dropping off your dog somewhere freaked me out, I am a very nervous owner at times. BUT I decided to go for it, since obviously my dog would let me know if he did not in fact like going to the doggy daycare. Result… My dog LOVES this place! And I’m pretty darn happy too. My dog is so tired after, he looks totally blissed out. It’s SUPER convenient, quick drop off when I’m running late. Plus I can grab some coffee, which I love. The food is really good! I can’t wait to have a free Friday for the BBQ.
Seriously though, the people are just great, it feels so comfortable leaving my dog here. I highly recommend supporting this business. Marcelo is great with the heard, super impressive. Thank you so much Pawfee shop, you have made this balancing work and doggy parenting thing SO much less stressful.

Today was my third and last visit. I arrived the moment the shop opened, in desperate need of coffee for my commute. There was no coffee ready, so I ordered a small Americano. What I got was a large Americano made with sour espresso and tepid water. The cookie I bought was, of course, stale and gummy. I thought I would try to down enough of my drink to wake up because I didn’t have time to wait for the machine to heat or the coffee to be made (things that ought to happen well before opening) but it was pretty awful.
If the other reviews are any indication, this place should change its name to Paw-​nini Shop and leave the coffee to people who know what they are doing.

Wow, pawfee is so great, and such a good idea! They have coffee ice cubes for cold coffee drinks, and amazing brazilian food. The owner was very friendly, he gave us several samples, YOU MUST TRY THE BLACK BEAN STEW. They have a doggie day care, and they really seem to care about keeping the dogs happy and comfortable. We’re in Portland for a few more days and will definitely be coming here again before we leave. Also very convenient if you’re on your way to the max.

Noticed The Pawfee Shop while doing my new bus route home from work. Did a full on rubberneck and had to text my mom about how excited I was by the clever idea and the punny and cute name! I haven’t been with my fur child yet, but I did just get a to-​go order and was very pleased. I got «Vegan Shepherd» panini and friend got «Ham + Cheddar» panini. It was delicious, hot and gooey and pressed just right. He threw in some surprise pickle spears which is always a delight. I wanted a decaf mocha and was told the decaf doesnt pull a great shot at the moment, so he offered me coffee ice cubes instead, which was incredible! They have an impressive line up of Petunia’s vegan and gluten free pastries and I overheard the owner telling another girl that they try to support family owned businesses as much as possible, which is really awesome. Jef, (i think is the owner) is warm, inviting, and super helpful. He makes good convo while helping you but still is fast with orders. The décor is cheerful and clean and my favorite part is the tables inside that have a wooden carved board in the shape of a pawprint filled with «pawfee» beans. My only «complaints» are that I think the panini should come with chips since it is fairly small and I think Daiya cheddar is more flavorful than the mozzerella and I think they should carry tofutti crème cheese, since they are already awesomely vegan friendly and that would just be the icing on the cake since I love bagels but dont do dairy. The dogs in the indoor play area looked as happy as can be. I can’t wait to bring my pup here and I’ll definitely become a regular. When businesses are this welcoming and care about putting out high-​quality stuff, It just makes you feel good to support them! Thanks Pawfee Pals!

Whatever they put in my panini was a mix of avocado and some form of vegan magic. When I chomped on my last bit of sandwich I literally started uttering weird prayers to mother Mary in hopes that I could recommend the architect himself up high could figure out how to make more people who make this specific vegan Shepard sandwich and stop fucking around with lesser sandwiches. Thing was on point hard. And I got a coffee. And I got to watch puppies run around. This place is like some form of soul therapy. Like, churches say they’re that but c’mon we are adults, puppies and coffee are going to keep you from throwing a toaster in your tub. Not the other place.
Go here every day and remember that things get better.
