Holy cow. If you don’t want to become religious, don’t go here. This rustic Italian treasure trove left our three-person group changed forever. Our vegetarian couldn’t speak for what seemed an eternity and somehow had sex hair after his first bite of the Lasagnette, while the Lentil Soup and Ravioli left the meat-eaters equally flabbergasted. Still, the entrees were merely a prelude to this evening’s swan song, the Brioche Pudding. I’ve attached an image for your convincing; however, the dessert was so enticingly delectable that no one thought to capture it on their phone before it captured our souls. In sum, eat here. You won’t regret it.

Me and a friend walked into this place really hungry, both of us together ordered 5 different small plates from their menu. We were not disappointed with any of them. Each dish was very flavorful, not very creamy or cheesy(which most Italian restaurants are), just the right amount, it was great. I was wondering why I have never tried this place out before(walked by it several times), I am not a very big fan of Italian places because the food is usually very creamy with lotts of cheese and very heavy. But this place was none of that, their food seemed to have Mediterranean influence on their recipes maybe the owner is the region, I suggest everyone try this place out you wont be disappointed.

Wow… best pizza I have had since being in Italy this past summer! We arrived around 6:30 on a Saturday night. There was a wooden high-top table that we stood at, so we each ordered a drink until we could be seated. Although we probably would have preferred a table, the owner knew it was busy and offered us spots at the small bar so we could eat sooner(we maybe waited 15 min as opposed to 30.) We started with stuffed mushrooms that were delicious — tinier than I had expected, but still yummy! Then we ordered the Suppressata e Cavolo pizza, which had salami, mozzarella, kale, and spicy red peppers… my mouth watered the second I laid eyes on it! Perfectly browned thin crust, and the toppings were plentiful! To finish, we split the goat cheese cheesecake with poached pears, granola, drizzled with balsamic. Oh my goodness, it was definitely one of the most intriguing and tasty desserts I’ve tried. The ambience is nice — cozy lighting and beautiful wooden tables/stools. The best part is an open view to watch pizzas being made at the big woodfire oven! This restaurant isn’t the most spacious however, so probably not best for groups. The owner was very personable and friendly, as were the rest of the staff — they made for an enjoyable evening out!

I wish I’d taken a picture of my gnocchi with shredded pork ragu. There’s no way a picture would do it justice though – I loved it!

The atmosphere was interesting. I loved the wood interior but the seating arrangements were a bit cramped. Tables were made out of glossed pieces of giant wood which was cool. TIP: if you have a loud speaking voice or are about to have an important conversation do not do it here. You can literally eavesdrop on the conversation next to you unintentionally. Onto the food. They have good options, keep in mind they are going to be smaller. It was our first time here and I have to say we ordered the wrong thing, GOHEREFORTHEPIZZA! Three tables beside ours ordered pizza and I had to restrain myself from drooling, especially hearing the crisp crunches of people biting into the crusts. They seem to have great selection for pizzas. I ended up getting potatoe and truffle ravioli, it was ok. The ravioli encasing was too thick, there was no chew and the potatoe filling was lacking. It was a really small portion about 5 pieces for 18 dollars. Service was good, manager was walking around making sure people had enough water and took extra orders. I will return for pizza.

This review is not for the food. It actually smelled nice, but the atmosphere was awful and we left. The first thing I noticed when I walked in is the lighting is really weird. There are super bright overhead lights, and sconces, and flood lights. It was overwhelming, it felt like a 24 hour fitness locker room. Then there was this tinny top 40 music playing over the speakers. The atmosphere could be really nice but that totally ruined it and made it feel like McDonalds for me. So we left. I’m kinda bummed because the food smelled nice. But the atmosphere was unbearable.

Tried this place as it had great reviews. Ordered 2 pizzas and 2 beers. Both of the beers were marginal at best. The pizza decent, but nothing special. The atmosphere inside was really nice and location was great, but overall, the food could be a lot better.

Strolling Pearl we decided to pop in here for lunch. This place is gorgeous inside. Beautiful buildout, lovely furniture and had a nice warm vibe. Service was great as well. The owner was there and he was very attentive to our needs which was nice to see. My husband ordered the tomato soup and it was hands down the best either of us have ever had. I regretted immediately not ordering one for myself. The owner said they import the tomatoes from Italy. Yep, I’d say so. It was deeeelish. I had the salmon ravioli and it was good. But then I tried my husband’s order which was the mushroom ravioli and it was fantastic. While I didn’t dislike my salmon ravioli, I will say the mushroom ravioli was better. We loved our entire meal. We left quite satisfied.

Not quite sure how this restaurant has maintained a 4.5 star rating, especially in Portland where there are myriad great choices. We had the organic cherry tomato and green bean salad as an appetizer. It was highly mediocre. Not well seasoned and it had only 4 cherry tomatoes in it. And, although it was an appetizer, and the waitress confirmed that it was an appetizer, she brought out our main course dishes within 2 minutes of serving the appetizer. Simply awful service. I had the tomato soup(which when ordered the waitress confirmed that it was a main course) and my husband had the gnocchi. Both were easily forgettable. And, as my husband enjoys tiramisu, he ordered it for dessert. Texture was ok, but taste was off, as they added a citrus flavor to it. Overall meal was super forgettable and the service was lousy – not because it was slow, but because it was so rushed. Other terrific restaurants in Portland are way more deserving of my business and 4.5 stars.

Just had an amazing meal on a visit from Los Angeles. Wonderful flavors and even better service. Rarely do I take the time out to write reviews but I immediately had to for Pianttino. I’d recommend some of their great cheese selections as well as the Angelina. Will definitely be coming back for future visits.

What a great place. It’s very small so prob not good for big groups. Not too loud to talk to whoever you’re with but not too quiet that you feel like you’re in a library. Does not look or feel like a traditional Italian restaurant, and that was totally fine. Wife ordered the manicotti. It came in a little cast iron dish on a wood plank. It was perfectly cooked and excellent. I ordered a pizza. I don’t remember which one, but it had spicy Italian pepperoni on it. The pizzas are excellent. They are about 14″ and are alot for 1 person, so can definitely be split. The garlic bread was the best I’ve ever had. All around great restaurant and experience.

Ok, I worked in Europe and my share of good Italian pizza. Moving back ptown, I have been looking for the same taste in Portland. This place is as close as I can find. I sat outside. But, looks like a nice bar area. Only downside, I had to pay a dollar for extra olive oil.

We walked in to this place around 6:30 on a Saturday night. Tables were all full, but there was room at the bar. There was some fun back-and-forth with the staff, and we decided to wait at the bar until a table was available. Took about 10 minutes. Once we were seated, we looked over the menus which included«build-your-own» style appetizer platters with artisanal cheeses and cold cuts(as well as baby gherkins, aged garlic spread, bruschetta, etc.). We asked our waiter for his recommendations, and took them into account. The recommendations were phenomenal, but so too were the choices we made outside of them. Definitely got the sense that the cheese/salumi list is well cultivated. For Entrees, our table ordered: 1) Manicotti — Came in a tiny cast iron pan. Delicious, filling, and just the right portion size for my wife, who has a medium appetite. Competitive eaters may be peckish after, but it should do for most people. 2) Truffle and potato Ravioli — This is what I ordered, and it was incredible. Five large raviolis were swimming in a light cream sauce, and they were cooked to perfection. I never really have experienced«al dente» anywhere else, it turns out. Again, the amount of food was perfect. 3&4) My cousin and his wife ordered some other food, but for the absolute life of me I can’t remember what. I know his wife had a seafood pasta that was extremely flavorful, but on the spicy side, with perfectly done Mussels. Throughout all of this, we had our attentive waiter checking in, fresh water whenever we even LOOKED like we needed it, and the owner himself came by to explain everything that came on the appetizer platter. The whole thing felt more like a friendly gathering, rather than a restaurant. I would definitely return here if I lived in Portland. Bottom Line: Reasonable(less than $ 20 for most plates), flavorful food served by warm staff in a great ambiance. I’m sure they’re holding their own where they are, but anywhere else in the states they’d be making a killing.

Oh man this was possibly the best pizza restaurant I been to. The Tuscan salad was absolutely amazing. The pizza was so good we had to get another. The servers were very polite, friendly, warm, and welcoming. The owner of the restaurant came by to chat with us. He’s a very nice man. I am very glad to have found this place. Thanks for an amazing experience.

Gnocchi and mussels were outstanding at lunchtime. But that kale salad stole the show. Owner is friendly and runs a great establishment. Highly recommend.

Great Portland restaurant! Highly recommend taking your appetite to Piattino. The wife and I decided to try it out and we are so thankful we did. We love mussels and while researching places with the aforementioned, Piattino showed up — they did not disappoint. The sauce was amazing, just wish we had more bread to dip in it. We split an order of meatballs and seafood parpadalle and enjoyed a bottle of Pinot Grigio as well. We added an order of garlic bread which came with fresh pesto on top. These dishes were more than enough to fill the appetite. The décor and ambience inside is very classy yet comfortable. The wood interior gives it a great PNW feel and dress is still casual(you can dress it up a bit and not feel out of place). For the two of us we spent around $ 75 but keep in mind we also had a bottle of wine rather than just glasses. If you go during select weekdays, you can score a bottle for $ 15(check in via Unilocal!) The owner is very friendly and chats with patrons while they lean back in their chairs and let the food settle in. We hope to return sooner rather than later!

Yes, the décor is lovely and the service was very good BUT(yes, there is a But here) the food was just ok — NOT«A ok» as my rating shows. We had the mussels which were good enough but certainly nothing that will be memorable and the pizza was less than ok. The crust was thin and a bit undone and the topping was really pretty dull. Perhaps we did not order the same food as the folks who have given the really great reviews. With so many other choices in PDX it seems that restaurants would make sure that all of their menu items would be a home run. So at the end of the day we are clear that there was nothing about our dinner that would give us motivation to return for a repeat performance.

Excellent food, excellent service, excellent prices. The place isn’t very crowded which is great for my small family. The server and the owner were efficient and attentive. When my son wasn’t able to eat the pizza my husband ordered to share, the owner saw that it was too spicy and quickly requested that the chef cook him a fresh pizza and asked what we would like on it. Piatinno’s is very authentic. The portion size is perfect, not too much, not too little. The food is all fresh and cooked to order. The atmosphere is rustic and completely different than many other restaurants in the Pearl.
