This place is amazing! It’s like Subway, but for pizza. Great prices too! The crust is thin and crisp. but tasty, in my opinion! I suggest getting herb butter on the crust beforehand, especially if you don’t think the crust has much flavor! There are tons of toppings to choose from! A variety of meats, cheeses, veggies, etc. You can choose from suggested pies, or create your own custom pie. I like to order the Margherita and make it my own by adding a few more toppings. You don’t have to put a ton of toppings in order to like it, as other reviewers have mentioned. This is my brother’s favorite pizza restaurant, and he only puts meat and cheese on his pizza. It takes ~5 minutes to bake the pizza. very fast! The servers are always friendly and energetic too. This place has definitely become a family favorite!

Pizza has never been so fun. The personal pizzas at Pieology are not only entertaining to put together, but they taste good too. I went with a barbecue chicken, bacon, meatball pizza #carnivore. The ingredients are fresh and they put a good amount on the pizza. The size of the personal pizza was perfect for this six foot four man in his twenties. The price was super reasonable and worth it. I also enjoyed reading the famous quotes on the wall while waiting in line. I expect more of these will be opening up across the country. Echoing previous reviews, this is the Chipotle of pizza. Not the best pizza ever, but better than most, fresh, and fun to make.

The new big thing is having pizza like chipotle. It’s ok! Not my favorite pizza however it is quick and has never been too busy at this location. I ask for my pizza to cook an extra amount of time otherwise it taste like dough to me. They do have a long list of sauces and toppings. Everything I have added to a pizza before has been fresh.

Mothra Says… Just Good Pizza On a Cool February Portland afternoon, K and I popped in for a lunch(no breakfast so I was famished). Not really knowing much about Pieology, I kept an open mind. I grabbed a paper menu, walkup up to the counter and proceeded to order my pie and K, her pie. Basically, with unlimited toppings for your Pizza, it could get ugly real fast. The idea is to choose your ingredients for the wood fired oven behind the counter. But not to overload your pie as that would be … well counter productive to the pie. Follow me? I think you do. Too much is just… too much. About 10 minutes later with a cold brewski in my hands, two lovely thin crusted wood fired pies were delivered to the table. K had a pepperone with 2 cheeses, peppers, and olives; and mine was a Canadian bacon, 2 cheeses, black olives, & spicy sausage. OK, hot to the touch(if you have read my reviews, you know I like my food hot out of the kitchen) from the oven, these two pies were simply: delicious Ok, are these the best pizza’s in the country? Your city? No, but with good service, clean restaurant, and at $ 7.00 to $ 8.00 for a 10−11″ pie, just really good. Two pizzas, two brews, one salad, and tip. Out the door at $ 35.00 I will be back. Mothra says… Give this a try. You will like it. 3.30 of 5.0

WOW! I have to say this place is AMAZING! I was instantly greeted as I walked in and of course it being my first time I was a bit hesitant but their staff made me feel welcomed and right at home. Their Pizza was the best I’ve had in a while! I definitely will go back and recommend this place to anyone!

So glad that we finally got Pieology in the Portland area. Granted it is a chain, but if you’re looking for fast, good pizza at an affordable price, then this is definitely the place to go. The customer service has always been awesome on my visits which is a plus. If you haven’t been yet, or are a bit skeptical, definitely be sure to at least give it a try.

The good part is they have a Wheat crust option which i haven’t seen in MOD or Blaze. I have been to this place on 2 occassions and was never crowded. Pretty close to the Wash. Square mall and very convenienty located. Service is pretty good.

I have been to the Tigard Pieology location a couple of times. I have Celiac Sprue(severe intolerance to wheat and gluten) and was excited they had a GF crust. They also take the time to have separate sauce containers for GF customers. The first time I went in, the manager was very friendly and helped make my pizza as GF as possible(yes, I know it cannot be 100% GF). She even helped another employee understand how to dig down into the meat and veggies or to get new meats out so as not to cross contaminate. I did not get sick after I ate there, so I can say they did a nice job. I went back to this same location again today and got a much different response. I kindly explained to the young man helping me that I have Celiac and if he could take the extra precautions to help make my pizza as safe as possible. He did change his gloves, but then started working on a non GF crust and I had to ask him to change his gloves again. He was not happy about this. I asked(nicely) if he could dig down in the meats and veggies too, which he ignored. When I asked if he could use the new Canadian bacon/ham next to the one that was almost gone, he said no, he could not open a new one?! Even after I asked, «Even if it means I could get sick?» he still refused. When I asked to speak to a manager, the lady that helped me was the same lady who had been friendly and nice on my first visit. When I mentioned that the boy had not been safe with my pizza, and she got very rude and defensive and basically told me if I wanted to have a gluten-free meal, then I probably should not eat there. The point I was trying to make was that I HAD eaten there safely in the past, and I was confused as to why this was such a problem this time. We were not there at a busy time, there was only one person behind me ordering… In the end, the boy begrudgingly made me a new pizza and in the process, left off several ingredients I had requested. In the end, it was an experience that brought tears of frustration to my eyes because I felt shamed for having a true food intolerance that is out of my control. No restaurant should ever make a customer feel this way! The only reason I gave it two stars(and not one), is because the times I have eaten there, their pizzas have been good. I would only go back if I was guaranteed a friendly experience with someone who is willing to help me feel like my meal is as safe as possible for me to eat. I was told that this place was 100 times greater than the other local«Made on Demand» pizza joint. That other place is one of my all-time favorite thin crust pizza purveyors, so I had to check the claim for accuracy. The first thing I noticed was the speed. How they can cook a pizza that quickly is beyond me. We decided that they must have a huge warehouse in back where fully-cooked pizzas in every possible ingredient combination waited to be ordered. Seriously, though – I barely had enough time to get my drink and sit down before the pizzas were brought out. Taste-wise, Pieology pies are similar to the other place. Delicious, great crust, fresh ingredients. I thought the beer was overpriced. $ 5 for a small plastic cup. To be fair, I never order beer at the other place because their beer selection sucks. The selection was better here. So, is it 100 times greater than the other place? Nah. But it’s as good. And it’s quicker. If I’m ever craving pizza while in the Washington Square area, I’ll definitely be back to Pieology.

A lot of the negative reviews on here are about the service. I thought the service was above average for a fast food joint. Most of the staff seemed friendly enough. However, the décor is uninviting(as other reviewers have pointed out) and there were a lot of kids there today – which made the volume uncomfortably loud. With nothing on the walls or floor and a high ceiling, there was no way the physical ambience could suck up the sound. I was grateful for the outdoor seating. My one star, though, is really for the food. I am surprised by how many people rate it high – suggesting it tastes good. You would do better with a frozen tombstone pizza from Safeway. The crust is essentially a tool to carry the other ingredients to your mouth. It has no flavor or texture to note. The red sauce has no flavor either. Pizza sauce is supposed to have herbs and spices in it. Particularly — oregano. None of that. I question the qualities of the cheeses. They congealed almost as quickly as they pseudo melted. The sausage had an odd consistency to it, and I don’t think the pie is baked long enough for the toppings to really cook. I am assuming that is because they keep the crust so thin and they try not to burn that. And, I am assuming they keep the crust so thin to make your pizza in five minutes so you don’t have to wait. Here’s my two cents: some things need time to be done right. I am an east coaster and have come to tolerate(occasionally) what constitutes pizza here. But, there is more to making a good one than just picking your toppings – which to the reviewers who claim pieology is a godsend because they can finally choose toppings… I’ve never met a pizza place that doesn’t let you do that. The wood oven process(you need more than a few minutes to get that flavor in the food!), the construction and tossing of the dough, the sauce spices, the freshness of ingredients … They all contribute to the taste. Pieology just doesn’t cut it. I’d rather grab a salami stick and some crackers from World Market next door.

It’s reasonably priced and totally made to order. My husband was pleased with his IPA. That’s the good. Quality of ingredients was mediocre and the staff were confused on how to make their«specialty» pizzas. 2 people both staring at one menu to figure out the toppings. Really? Easy cheesy was pretty good. The crust on the veggie got soggy before we were even done. Thumbs down on the margherita. I might return for convenience food for the kids. I’d stick with the white vs whole wheat dough and just a few toppings like black olives if we return.

We decided to try Pieology again to see if anything changed and was surprised. When we came in both employees had their backs to us talking and about a minute of us standing there one turned around and saw us. He apologized but the customer service needs some work. The pizza was definitely much better and had a really good taste to it I would come back more often now that things have changed.

Best gluten free pizza crust I’ve had in this area! It was nice and crispy but didn’t taste like cardboard, like some others tend to be. I had the classic margherita pizza with gluten free crust and enjoyed every minute, so delicious. I went on a Sunday at noon and I was literally the only person in there… not sure why? My new favorite place!

So disappointed with the service/customer service at this Pieology! We ordered nearly 30 pizzas for a volunteer appreciation lunch. We placed the order five days before hand and could not have provided more clear instructions regarding what pizzas and salad we wanted. Not only was our order not ready when it was scheduled for us to pick it up, but we had to wait over 30 minutes for the pizzas to finish cooking(though some were definitely not cooked all the way when they packaged and sent them with us). They had assured us that they have the ability to cater for large groups, but did not live up to this claim. In addition to the pizzas being horribly late, they forgot major ingredients off of some of our pizzas making them inadvertantly vegetarian. They also gave us several more«Mad to Meat You» pizzas than we ordered and didn’t give us all of the the Alfredo’s Alfredo pizzas that we had requested. They also forgot to give us any salad dressing so three of our volunteers ate dry salads. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse, the employees were not at all apologetic for all of the delays and errors and told other customers in the restaurant that they were going to have to wait because«some guy just came in and ordered 27 pizzas.» We were so disappointed with the poor planning of this restaurant and the poor service/customer service we received. We will not be ordering from this Pieology again.

Fast food Pizza anyone? Pieology is the place to go. I decided on a late lunch. At almost 3 pm… This place was dead. Lots of parking lot. So don’t worry about the parking. This was my first time at this chain. Upon entering there was no direction on what exactly the protocol was so I winged it. There was only one employee present at first and he walked me through the crust choices, sauces, cheeses etc. The dining room was very institutional. I chose the whole wheat crust with herb oil and marinara. Toppings were mozzarella. Pepperoni, sausage, onion and black olive. I received my pizza in 11 minutes. The pepperoni was extremely greasy which is a sign of high fat/lower quality pepperoni. I took several napkins and dabbed it all off. The taste was ok. All in all the crust was pretty great for being whole wheat. The meat toppings were mediocre. The price, topping selections and environment were right down the middle. Towards the end of my visit the place started to get busy and there was only one guy working. All of a sudden a van pulled up on the curb and a female without a uniform, who looked upset, rushed in and went behind the cash register and helped the line of people waiting at the cash register. She said«I need to leave» a couple times loud enough so everybody could hear it. Then about 15 minutes later she got back in the van and left. It appears there may be some employee issues here. Wow! 2015 – 50

Ron T.‘s review is correct– this is the Pizza version of Chipoltle’s but that’s as far as I go with agreeing with Ron. I thought it was nice change to FINALLY get to have the toppings that I wanted without having to spend the entire mean picking out the stuff I hated. You get to choose from 7 different base sauces and from there– the toppings are endless with no extra charge! And for $ 7.95 it’s a deal. The crust is very thin and comes it crispy-almost like a flatbread. It is a fast food chain like: Chipotles, Pita Pit, Pot Belly’s etc. But sometimes that’s okay. I’d recommend this as a culinary pit stop while doing a little shopping!

This place is similar to MOD pizza in almost every way — Only difference is it is a bit more greasy and in my encounter they weren’t particularly friendly. If you’re in the area I suggest at least giving it a try for your own, it’s better than dominoes or say, Pizza Hut. I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to come back but if your shopping and need something better than the food courts at the mall, it’s another option. They should also turn the music down so the people making your pizza can actually hear you. I don’t know why every place has to have music so loud. I don’t need garbage music In My ear while being asked«what else» every 2 seconds by the people slapping toppings on my pie.

Maybe not as good as the other places like this around town(MOD and the one near the mall down further South) but it was still pretty good. Also the pizza in this area sucks bad so I’m happy to have this option and would rather grab a few pizzas here than get bad delivery pizza from the options we have. It’s basically like a Chipotle of pizzas, which is a great concept. Pick your sauce, toppings, it’s made in front of you and ready in a few minutes. They could use better salad selections as they only had pre made options and they were a little pricey. Also it’s too bright white in there, almost like fluorescent lighting. Overall I like it and I’ll be happy to eat here now and then when I need to get my pizza craving fixed!

Excellent place. The selection of ingredients was what I would want to see. The vegetables were fresh and the meats looked good. Anyone that doesn’t like the way there pizza came out is there own problem. The décor was clean and the price was right. If your ever looking for a little place to grab a custom slice look no further.
