Great shop! The woman behind the counter (who seemed to be the owner) was friendly, helpful and informative. There’s a little bit of everything and I felt most prices were fair. We left with a couple vintage bottles, a few shirts, an apron and an old photograph and we will definitely be back.

This place is a treasure chest of pure gold.
Every time I venture out to Portland I get so excited as to what memorable pieces I might find and bring back home to the admiration of many jealous friends.

They gave me a great discount as well because a) they said I was the only one lucky enough to have the original Levis be the perfect length on them & b) I bought so much.
The owners are cool. The place is a good representation of who they are as people and I think they have some great vibes and both classic & unique taste.

This vintage shop is busy with shoes, clothes, jewelry and memorabilia but it’s also full of fun and interesting finds. Is there a lot going on? Yes. But the merchandise is well displayed and if I wanted racks of clothes that don’t overload my senses I would go to The Gap. To me vintage and consignment shopping is a treasure hunt and this place plays nicely into that experience. Will you dig a little? Sure! Will you find things that are off beat, cool and a little strange (in a good way)? Absolutely. That’s part of the fun of vintage shopping– you always find something unexpected in a pile of tutus or behind a wall of 25 year old Frye boots. The shopkeeper was lovely and I scored one necklace and three sets of earrings for a mere $ 16. I will be back!

After reading the other reviews, I can attest that the organization of this store is nonexistent. That being said, I really like it. It’s like some weird hide and seek game every time you go in. I don’t have my ears pierced so I always come to check out the clip ons, and the shop owner has always, always been nice to me. It felt like I was with a gal pal who was shopping alongside with me instead of selling me items. There are definitely great finds to be found here.

I thought of starting this off with something kind, an attempt to sandwich my contempt. However, after reading other poor reviews, I’ve decided to get down to brass tacks.
I will NEVER step foot in this shop again.
As an another disgruntled customer said, «if you still want to venture by, maybe peep in the window first. she’s tall and thin and has long brunette hair and rolls her eyes at the drop of a hat.»
I’d recommend you just keep walking. There are a plethora of amazing vintage shops in town where the staff will not treat you like absolute garbage.
I left this store feeling HUMILIATED after having the previously mentioned brunette screech «those buttons aren’t free honey.» at me as I walked out the door.
I informed her that she was mistaken and I that I would be more than happy to hand over my bag for inspection. At this point, I received the aforementioned, famous eye roll as well as sass from her fellow ‘super cool’ friends who gathered around the register like a flock of mindless geese.
If you have the audacity to accuse someone of shoplifting, have the gall to approach the person and provide some truth.

I thought the tall, thin brunette owner/​worker was really nice so I can’t really speak to the other reviewers who have spoken out against the staff. What I will say is ‘whoa!’ This place is pretty packed full of stuff. If I had had more time, I would’ve looked through every crevice. To me, it almost felt like I was looking through the owner’s travels/​scrapbook/​closet/​vacation photos. The store had a lot of personality and some great finds. When I am in Portland again and have more time, I’d like to have a closer look. As it was, I was exhausted from 3 days of non-​stop Portland shopping. My fiancée bought a pretty awesome book though. She is ecstatic about it.

On more than one occasion I’ve come in, lured by the debris field of sparkly things outside.
My first reaction when I set foot inside was what utter chaos. It seems that things, all things are thrown together on «display’» with no rhyme or reason. The sensory overload was almost alarming. I would likely enjoy browsing much more doped up on a Xanax so the walls packed all the way to the low ceiling didn’t trigger a claustrophobic attack.
There are cool items to be had in there if you are willing to take a deep, mind calming breath and hunt. I usually enjoy hunting. However, here, I just get agitated and leave empty handed every time.
A well lit, well organized shop, this is not.

Friends and co-​workers have been telling me for nearly 6 months that I need to visit this very special shop.
From the outside it may look like just one of many little vintage stores that continue to pop up around town but it’s not. This one is special. They have packed some of the very best of vintage finds into this tiny accesable and fascinating shop.
Furs, boots, wonderful lovely clothing for the feminine and sharp dashing clothes for the masculine, jewelry, accessories, toys, vinyl albums and much much more, its all here, the best of the best.
The prices seemed fair, some items really seemed to be a steal.
The staff was charming, helpful, friendly and damn handsome.

SNOB CITY.
So, as a transplant recently from another metropolis to PDX, my friend and myself have been visiting and becoming acquainted with all of the thrift stores in different neighborhoods, which have all been fantastic experiences, EXCEPT FOR THIS ONE.
The other day we decided to go into this neighborhood and make a day of it.
I saw this shop and made my way in.
When I entered I was momentarily swept away by all of the amazingly cool ‘things’ in here which I was just beginning to get into, only to be brought back down to earth when the girl working behind the counter who I since learned is the owner began having an extremely hard not to hear fight with someone on the phone in which she said some things that just made me uncomfortable being able to not unhear or get far enough away from to feel like you aren’t unable to leave a massive fight happening.
HOWEVER, fair enough, we all have jobs and we can’t always have our lives stay away from work, so my friend and i continued shopping and happily. That wasn’t a huge deal.
After looking around the whole store which is btw, obscenely overpriced — I’m guessing due to the neighborhood it’s in, I found a jumpsuit I really wanted which was a whopping $ 58.00 and had a half broken zipper which to me is a fully broken zipper. I decided to just ask the girl behind the counter if she could do better and she acted considerably offended and asked «HOW much better» and I said «Well, what can you do, if any» and then she said in the absolute most ridiculous valley girl, say it with me folks way: «Like, LOOK, this isn’t how this works. You say a price. You make ME an offer. I don’t make a price. Then I tell YOU if I will or won’t, got it?»
And I was shocked and my friend was also shocked and a few people watched, which was needless to say, a bit embarassing being scolded.
I will never go back in here and will tell everyone I meet how rude they are which is about as far from my usual as it gets.
Everyone in Portland is so nice. No need to visit snobby places that are also so overpriced. Gunne Sax is available on etsy for anywhere from 30 or so to 100 $. Why pay 160 — 200 in a store where the spoiled model owner does nothing to make you feel welcome.

What I do highly recommend is the PB&J cart just outside. Now HE’S nice & not so overpriced.

I’m a huge lover of anything vintage and antique.
I love thrifting and vintage shopping, and my friends and family can tell because they tell me I dress like a grandma from the 60’s.
I’m from Texas, but I’m not a huge fan of the thrift shops in Houston and Austin, so I usually stock up when I’m shopping out of town.
After spending a summer in LA, where I basically found a whole new wardrobe from Jet Rag Sundays, I honestly have to tell myself «do I really need this?» whenever I find something over $ 5. I am a broke college student, after all.
What Pop-​Up Shoppe wins at is their insanely eclectic collection of items. It looks like an almost hole in the ground, tiny store, but once you go inside it’s like a wonderland of antiques. It also goes a lot further back than you’d think, and has so much more than what you’d judge by looking at the store from the outside.
I went twice this week, and spent a good hour and a half total just admiring things. Everything from a «moon landing puzzle» that looks like it really is from the 60’s, to New Kids on the Block dolls, to dresses from the 40’s, to a RACK (and I’m talking about a rack almost the size of the entire wall) FULL of fur coats.
Things are scattered everywhere, yet it’s still pretty organized and doesn’t give you a headache to look at. It definitely seems like they put time and effort into making this a unique store.
My only complaint are the prices, but that’s a problem I have with any «vintage» shop. I understand that vintage shops carefully pick out their items and are more meticulous than thrift stores that you have to tirelessly pick through, but I still don’t like the idea of paying $ 50 – 60 for a used item.
There was an awesome Monkees memorabilia cotton doll set, which I totally would have gotten if it wasn’t $ 64. And a 80’s Beatles cover LIFE magazine for $ 26. And a beautiful maroon stone ring for $ 36. There was also a vintage Christian Dior blouse for $ 64.
BUT, I did find some items that were affordable for a broke college student like me. A silver butterfly ring for $ 10, X-​Men and Hawkeye comic books from the 80’s for $ 3 each, and a floral tank jumpsuit I just HAD to have for $ 36 (that I ended up negotiating for $ 28 because there was no way I’d pay that much for something from a vintage/​thrift store). Even $ 28 is a lot for one article of clothing for me, but maybe I’m just spoiled from finding super great deals.
All in all, this is a great place to go if you love vintage and antique things. Especially if you’re not broke like me and don’t mind forking over $ 40 – 60 for a great vintage item, then this is the place for you!

Once I actually managed to catch them while open, I found this place over priced and annoying.
I apparently did not experience all the greatly priced finds that everyone else reviewing this place did. Also, it was crazy messy. Not cute and eclectic messy. If I have to trip over stuff and worry about accidentally breaking something, those things better be cheap (which they are not here).
I know I am spoiled by my mid-​west upbringing of vintage pricing, and that I have ridiculous standards for a lot of things. This place pushed my last button (the first several times I tried to go here) by not being open anywhere near posted store hours. I get that sometimes stuff comes up, but this store not being open wasn’t a one time thing. I came here 3 times before I caught them open. All during different parts of different days. I find this extremely obnoxious.
After finally getting to check this place out thoroughly I probably won’t go back unless someone tells me they have vintage cowboy boots for under $ 30 in my size or something miraculous like that.
If you like to collect vintage junk in barely impressive condition then this place is your place though. Don’t let me ruin it for you or anything.

The West Coast has some of the most bad ass vintage shops and Pop-​Up Shoppe is an example of why.
What caught my eye was an original ET movie TV tray sitting outside on a display table for around $ 20. This is the kind of vintage store where you can find all your childhood toys from the 80s (sniff) along with adorable vintage clothing and housewares galore. The store is smaller but cram packed with tons of really neat stuff. The owner has awesome taste in vintage.
I ended up picking up a very cool lobby card from 1971 from the Vincent Price movie The Abominable Dr. Phibes that I will soon be proudly displaying on my living room wall. I lovingly hand carried this baby rolled up with a rubber band through Portland’s airport security and 2 Southwest airline flights back to Texas. It only got one small tear the entire time from my tray table when I was trying to tuck it into the seat back pocket of the airplane. Phew.
The other item I picked up was an old Elvis promotional picture from the late 1960s complete with original frame that the original owner lovingly placed it in. In the picture Elvis is decked out in a green cape-​like outfit with a huge gold belt buckle and the signature «Love, Elvis» scribbled out on the bottom. The original gold-​lattice frame that smelled like somebody’s grandmother’s home was just as cool as the picture. This is the sort of stuff you will find at Pop-​Up Shoppe.

Vintage stores are judged on their price, amount of stuff and how often their stuff changes.
Pop-​up Shoppe wins for all 3.
The prices are entirely reasonable for the items. $ 18 for a perfect condition vintage dress? Yes!
Stuff everywhere? So much stuff that you have to watch where you are walking? Yes!
New stuff every time I pop in? (Which is weekly.) YES!

There’s gobs of clothes and jewelry popping up all over the place here. It’s really overly full so it’s hard to go through and browse very easily. If you are the type of person that likes to do some digging though I know you will probably find something to fall inlove with.
I think a little more lighting might help you see better too.
I also heard someone dickering on an item so you might be able to get a better price on some things. It’s worth a try.

When assessing vintage shops, variety and volume are pluses. Yes, this shop was crammed to the brim, but there were many hidden treasures.
I found a snake-​skinned bag that was perfect, and there was an all-​wool wrap that would be hard to find in the retail market.
Agreeing with Katie M, the prices are very fair for the quality of the items (real leathers, furs and wools).
The owner was very helpful, including giving instructions on how to care for the handbag.
Allot for some time and browse through for your perfect treasure.

An idle question, but one deserving a bit of investigative foot work — –
Is the nomenclature of this vintage boutique a DELIBERATE nod to one of Portland’s vintage, long-​defunct institutions— namely, The Pop Shoppe? Sorry if this seems like a glib, quaint, or otherwise superfluous query. The potential for embarrassment is high, but it’s worth the risk if it will at all ease the disquietude in my soul. The «Need to Know» factor for this issue is decidedly high, through the roof, you might even say, considering the perilously low-​ceilings of the Pop-​Up Shoppe.
What is there to say about this boutique in particular? It’s a fun little bit of frippery. One wonders if the carefully coiffed, deliberately «sloppy vintage» look will ever truly go out of style in these parts, as it has been the go-​to around here seemingly forever? In a smallish city already packed with vintage boutiques — all the more so if you count Value Villages, Salvation Army, St. Vincent de Paul, and Good Will— that yes indeed, you can still make a living in this line of work.

You know those vintage stores that you spend hours, days, years going through and never see it all? This is one of those places. Crammed into the basement of an old house on 23^rd, the crowded racks of clothes come from every decade.
Salvageable unique pieces along with quality. Jewelry in piles and piles. Random, random, and more random. I tried on a wedding dress here… shhhh, don’t tell anyone.
I feel like you’re encouraged to really enjoy yourself here and hopefully walk away with something you can’t live without.

Came here randomly one day while roaming around NW 23^rd and I’m glad I did. This place rocks. So much better than all the usual crappy thrift/​vintage stores that oversaturate Portland. I found two great vintage Polaroid cameras with cases and film and several other decorations, old posters, pictures and furniture that I seriously contemplated buying.
Staff lady was nice and knowledgeable about the stuff in the store too. I’ll be back.

This place is pretty cute, with a lot of cool antiques and vintage clothing. I didn’t find anything in the way of clothing that I was interested in, but there were a lot of cool home décor items that I enjoyed looking at.
Overall, this is a pretty fun shop and I’d recommend poking your head in to check it out!
