Do you want a delicious sandwich for $ 7 that will be enough to feed you and possibly your whole family? Then come here and get a sandwich, like a lomito. What is a lomito? A heavenly steak sandwich with a massive amount of protein, lettuce, tomato and a delicious mayo spread which has a name that escapes me at the moment. It is a huge, delicious, hot mess of a sandwich that your cardiologist would cringe at the thought of you eating. While I can eat a whole one no problem, it could easily be shared, or split for two meals, but who wants to do that? I have also tried the empanadas, but was not that impressed as the oil was not hot enough so it came out too greasy and the cheese on the inside was not entirely melted. I would give it a try again though, as I have heard other people say that the empanadas are very good, so it could have just been an off day. I have yet to try the other sandwiches, but I’m sure I will one of these days unless the lomito draws me in again, which is very likely. There are very few Argentinian places in Portland, so it is nice to see them represented here and I look forward to trying out some of their other offerings.

El Lomito is a heckuva good value. $ 7 smackeroos for an obscene mound of carne– asada-style sizzling steak, topped most excellently w/a fried egg and grilled onions and packed away into a tasty hoagie roll. Appetite? What appetite? KIA, hombre! A great opportunity for a little cultural exchange and intravista, for those who like to practice platicando en dos idiomas. I also enjoyed their«fun fact» board, «chalk» full o’ interesting facts about the Motherland, Argentina… It took several trips to this cart pod to finally catch these folks open in their tiny window of operational hours. Glad to say it was well worth los esfuerzos. Stay thirsty, compadres!

Well Dan H., I DIDWANT A SANDWICH! As expected, It was more than just plain huge. I’ll be damned if that freaking chicken sandwich wasn’t knock-my-socks-off awesome! I scraped the yummy, garlickyish condiment from the big-ass top bun and slathered it on the chicken. Otherwise it would have been too much bread for me to handle. So I think the sandwich I ordered is called the Lomito. I got mine without the onion but kept the tomato. Oh, some days I make good decisions. Once I had everything just so, handle it, I did. I polished off the whole thing. And you know what? I plan on going back for another because it was that good. I also want to try that lemony drink people have raved about. They were out of it when I visited.

I was in the mood for a sandwich. I thought — hey, it will be easy to eat one while walking! Looking around the pod, I thought I’d try this Argentinian place, because they put photos of their sandwiches right out front and center. I asked the proprietor(who I think is from Argentina) for a reccomendation, and he steered me to one that was breaded chicken. I was tempted to go with the steak and fried egg, but in retrospect I’m glad I got the chicken. First off, the(maybe) downsides: It was *huge*, and it was *messy*. My fingers and face required some cleanup, and there is no way you could eat it while walking. It was a big sandwich, and could easily feed two. It was very, very good. It had a lot of very strong flavors, and I’m sure is going to leave me with some afternoon breath. Very flavorful fresh onions. Tomatos dripping in sauce that I would describe as a kind of italian dressing coupled with mayo with a hint of kick(almost like horseradish or garlic). Suffice it to say, it was very good flavor. The sandwich bread was big and doughy, which worked well since you could use it to «soak up» the excess dripping sauces coming off the sandwich. The breaded chicken worked very well — it was thin(maybe pounded thin? I don’t know.) and had good quality and flavor. Price wise, the sandwich cost $ 7. But they threw in a free drink, including some imported options I hadn’t seen before. So while I may not want to pay that much for lunch regularly, I think it was a fare value. Especially considering you could easily split it with two for lunch. Give it a try. You will not be disappointed. Just get some gum or breath mints to deal with the garlic, and some extra napkins, and you will love it.

Saw someone with a beast of a sandwich that looked awesome and asked where they got it, and you guessed it… Port of Buenos Aires. I got their breaded chicken sandwich which has olive oil and some kind of spread that was delicious, and it was topped with tomatoes and onions. Very filling, but more importantly, very good. You also get a beverage with your meal($ 7), your choice. I chose what I thought was a lemonade like drink, which it is but is also a natural substance that is caffeinated. I did not know that, and was surprisingly more awake after lunch. Usually, I tend to fade fast but that beverage which I can’t recall the name of kept me going.(Its the only lemonade like beverage they have, so you can’t miss it). Looking forward to trying some of their other dishes. Highly recommend this cart.

I have family in Argentina, so was excited to find this new cart. I spoke to the owners in my terrible Spanish and they were very gracious and even acted like they understood me. The Lomito sandwich was very good… my daughter got the empanadas and similarly proclaimed them«awesome». This is a great addition to Portland’s food cart scene.

I didn’t want a sandwich. I didn’t want a sandwich. I DIDN’T WANT A SANDWICH. Stop yelling. What did I end up getting? You guessed it. A sandwich. Damn you bread and goodness between said bread that keeps dragging me back time and time again. A slightly long walk from work took me to this cart pod. I was here last weekend just wandering around when most of the carts were closed as I hadn’t been in a while and I wanted to see what was new and what was still around. I passed this place and made a mental note that I must try it. Have been to Argentina and loved the food there. Argentinian food is not well represented here in town. Or if it is, I don’t know about it. Anyway, I didn’t take a look at the menu until I walked up to the window. It was all sandwiches. Empanandas($ 2.50) too and I can’t resist an empanada. Nor did I resist an empanada. Along with that I got the Lomito sandwich($ 7). This is a steak sandwich that is topped with a fried egg, lettuce, tomatoes and cheese. It is a big sandwich. Come with your appetite. You’ll need it. It comes on a nice doughy roll. Taking it back to work with me as you might have noticed I do with all of my food(that will change once the warm and dry weather stays with us) I set it down for a bit to stew in its own juices. Either that or I wasn’t quite ready to jump in right away. When I finally opened the container I noticed how large this sandwich was. Before I ordered, the guy inside(who is originally from Argentina if you were wondering) told me it was a big sandwich. My definition of a big sandwich in this town isn’t necessarily the same as other people’s definition of big in this town so I took that with a grain of salt. He was right though. It is big. I ended up cutting it in half as I figured it would be easier to tackle that way. That was the best idea I’ve had all day. Possibly all week. The meat was a bit tough to bite into. At least it was in the first half. The second half was easier to manage. The flavor on the steak however was really good. Not sure what is going on, but feels like a good marinade is happening here. Guess this cart hasn’t been around too long. It does stand out.
