Why is this not the most highly rated and popular taco food truck in Portland!!! We enjoyed the most authentic and mouthwatering Mexican food of our lives here. I ordered the fish and vegetarian tacos. Both were overfilled with goodness and accompanied with 4 – 5 different spicy sauces to chose from. My husband is obsessed with breakfast burritos and had the best(not to mention biggest) burrito of his life here, for only $ 4.50! My two filling tacos came to $ 3.50! The prices here are a steal! The service is very friendly and they will personalize any meal to your preferences. This place won’t stay a secret for too long, we are going again tomorrow!

Superb taqueria! Fish tacos are world class. Although Unilocal has yet to update the address, it is now on N. Albina street — north of where Mississippi and Albina merge and south of Albina Press Coffee. What a great addition to the Mississippi neighborhood.

I’ve eaten at every taco cart I know of in town, and this place is easily one of the best. Tried a chicken and a chorizo burrito. One burrito could probably feed four people and weighs as much as a baby. But I’d be happy with half as much, because it’s all well seasoned and the ingredients are well cooked, so there was a nice crunch on things and it came out piping hot. But my favorite part was their habanero salsa! By far the best I’ve had in town. Super hot, delicious, and thick, not watered down like some are. I’ll definitely be back if it’s consistently this good.

One of my favorite carts in the neighborhood. Hidden in the parking lot next to Albina Press and the Mississippi Health Center. Yes, it is kind of run down and scary looking, but the burritos and tacos are delicious and reasonably-priced. The burritos are a little more rice-heavy than I’m used to, but it doesn’t make a difference. Get the avocado or red salsa(the green is standard and I haven’t braved the habanero one yet). Service is fast, because it’s still kind of a secret. New favorite dine-out solution in the neighborhood is to grab burritos from Rico’s and bring them to Bridgetown Beerhouse(or as we like to call it, «The Man Cave») or Tin Bucket. Tacos are better than Por Que No’s, which isn’t saying much, but not the best in town. Sweet tamales, oh my!

This fantastic food cart should be taking more of the business that goes to King Burrito Bus(which is also pretty good) a few blocks down. The Ricos crew are super-friendly, and they put out a great burrito at a very reasonable price. Even the tortilla(often a weak point, as it is at the King) is fresh and toasty, the fillings are hearty and well-made, and the house habanero salsa is just as fiery and delicious as advertised. Don’t miss this place; it’s far more credible and fresh Mexican food than you might expect to be able to eat in Oregon.

This place is great! We moved to Portland from Texas, where we lived all around in the state, from Houston to Brownsville to Austin to Lubbock. One of us did missionary work in Mexican villages, and our families took vacations in Mexico very often. Needless to say, Mexican food is a staple in our diets. Taquerias abound all over the Austin area, our last home; taco trucks were more prolific than Starbucks; the major grocery store had tortillerias; michaucanas were on every other corner. Last summer, we made the decision to come to Portland, for better weather, better people, and the general atmosphere, but sometimes we still pine for«home», mostly because of food and family. Our first night in Portland, we were taken to Por Que No? on the promise that it would be great food and satiate our craving for good tacos. Well, that didn’t happen. The food, while, I suppose, an authentic attempt, was badly seasoned, served with weird sauces and exorbitantly priced. It still escapes us as to why that restaurant ends up on top 10 lists in Portland for great food, much less great Mexican food. We were left wanting. The next day, we were going to look at some apartments in the Mississippi Avenue area, got lost and ended up near Rico’s Burritos. Frustrated with the roads and hungry, we decided to give tacos another try. This time, we were looking for quick, cheap street food. Orale! Ricos Burritos provided! This place lifted our spirits and gave us hope at the possibility of good Mexican food in Portland. The food: We got al pastor, carnitas, and chicken fajita. Simple ingredients, extremely tender and flavorful. The carnitas and chicken were both tender, very flavorful and nothing was used too much or too little of. Nothing fancy. It is cheap. Tacos done the way they are supposed to be done. We were, we are so very thankful. Since then, we’ve tried to find places all around Portland that could match Ricos or have some semblance of goodness. We’ve tried a lot of the 3 to 5 star Mexican restaurants on Unilocal, and none of them have been up-to-snuff. It’s rather disappointing, actually. We settled in Aloha for a bit and now we’re in Tigard, and though there are a lot of taco trucks(many we haven’t tried, admittedly) the ones we have tried have been discouraging. Were it up to us, we would visit Ricos as often as possible, but, alas, getting over the river is a massive pain.

Flavor, quality and price! Usually you can pick 2, but at Rico’s you get all three! This taquera sits in the parking area by Albina Press and the bodywork shop. On the weekend, the son is the counter man and parents cook up some tasty vittles. Family values! I had beef, pork and chorizo tacos. Plenty of carnivorous filling with fresh onion and one including fresh tomato along with cilantro, and your choice of about 6 hot sauces. They have vegie too — see the menu phots. I have to recommend the chorizo. It has a great smoky sun dried tomato-like flavor. This cart has special menu items day by day, and special prices some days that add up to a ridiculous deal. The smells emanating from the small window by the stove could be bottled and sold for a fortune. As of this writing, the $ 1.50 tacos are $ 1 on special Saturday and Monday! Eat there, though there is not a rain sheltered spot, except by the ordering area; take home, or eat in the ‘hood. As we enter the food cart season, this pod may reestablish itself with more seating and shelter options. Rico’s Burritos is a great cart that stands apart geographically and in quality. Did I say taste too? I’m a fan! (Submitted a Unilocal location change — they are now at N Blandena and N Albina. They are NOT on Killingsworth)
