My husband and I reserved Soi Cowboy for our Birthday Party! Steve Did such an amazing job and we had the best time!

One of my favorite bars in Portland. It was closed for awhile but it recently reopened so we went at a good time. The drinks were tasty, and not overpriced. Most of the drinks were about $ 6 – 7, and the bartender/owner can make your favorite drink to a tee. The bar is tucked away(behind Siam Society), which only adds to the cozy feel of the place. I felt like I was in someone’s living room… a classy/fancy living room. Best place to start the night. If you like refreshing light drinks, ask for a Lychee martini.

This is a great gem in the Alberta district of Portland. I would highly recommend their Key Lime Pie drink if you’re into sweet/fruity drinks. A very well done and cozy little out of the way place.

Steve is the best, utilizing locally distilled alcohol in his libations. Happy hour all the time, comfortable atmosphere, pinball, pool, and good times. Don’t knock the internet jukebox, it is a proper capitalist!!!

Sadly, the Soi Cowboy is now closed. Siam Society, though is still open! Also, if you’re having a party, you can use the Soi Cowboy Lounge for a reasonable rate.

They’ve closed the upstairs unfortunately. You can still order from the menu downstairs but it just isn’t the same. Too bad…

What is Soi Cowboy Lounge? Soi Cowboy Lounge is a cool little gem of a watering hole serving up some fabulous cocktails in a hidden locale on Alberta. Upstairs behind the Siam Society is where you will find this little gem. They have a small patio that is just exquisite. Maybe it was because it was slightly warm and the Sun was shining but it felt like I was transported out of Portland to some place beautiful and warm, much like Italy. I only glanced inside and it looks very welcoming with beautiful tiled floor, a great bar and a TV with some sport on where handsome men kicking a black & white ball around on a grassy field. It must be European! The cocktails are Awesome and they’re all priced at $ 7. The HH apps left a lot to be desired however. Tempura does not mean beer batter dipped onion rings. I can see myself coming here in the future sans the greasy onion rings. Cheers!

Happy hour all the time? Sounds like a good deal unless you notice that if you order two items you will most likely pay more than the cost of an entrée. Still a good selection of food. The cocktail menu has some interesting things all priced at $ 7. Vodka is my drink of choice but tonight I tried the Lady Boy, a mixture of five alcohols(rough day at work…). The polite and attentive bartender raised his eyebrows with a gentle warning«Are you sure? It’s strong…» Despite his warning I went with and that one drink was enough to put me off alcohol for the evening. I watched him pour five bottom shelf liquors into a PINT glass with a splash of lychee juice and Sprite and my stomach turned at the thought of drinking it. However, I will not abuse alcohol so I drank it all and lived to tell the tale. The setting of the lounge is very intimate so things can get loud. One of the best things about the place is climbing up the stairs between buildings and sequestering yourself away from the world.

It’s a lounge so I can give it five stars without trying the food so I am. Something is to be said of the blending abilities of a business you have walked by a hundred times and never noticed it was there. Something fun about passing an open kitchen backdoor, climbing steps into the complete unknown. The place looks like a nice place, you know, the cloth napkin, hairy eyeball for wearing a black band t shirt type of place. And it is, without the pretentious attitude this place could demand. The people at the bar… regular ass people. The bartender, about the nicest and most attentive server/owner/bartender ever. It says order at the bar, but being as we own this patio(about seating for 6 overlooking another patio) and it’s slow, he came to us! He seemed to be going about snagging some newbies into becomeing regulars and many many many bars could learn a lot from this dude. My water got refilled at least 4 times while hanging out, and I only had one drink, which was not priced for happy hour, but the food is all night, which doesn’t make sense, but doesn’t have to. I want to try one of everything on the menu, everything seemed thought out, from the house made drink creations, to the fact they have Rainier on tap. I am actually surprised the bathroom didn’t have an attendant. The place kinda looks like it may have been an upscale loft before. Oh, and the have a few lotto machines if your into that. I love it.

Love it, love it, love it. I’d had this place bookmarked forever, after Janessa P’s review because that woman knows her bubbly, totally forgot about it, then ducked in parched as all hell after walking around the Alberta ArtHop for a couple of hours. As you can imagine, every bar on Alberta was packed. We’d spied the little private deck from the street. Thought maybe this place was too fancy for a group of sweaty Unilocalers. The man working informed us that he was not open yet. Dang! So, we headed back out to kill some time. I figured there was no way we would get a seat in this tiny place, let alone the VIP outside seating, once they opened. Wrong-O! Upon returning, not only did we get seats, but had the deck to ourselves with stellar service. The Happy Hour food menu is served all night. All night. Lovely things like tofu fries, salad rolls, a Thai pizza concoction, some salads, and a bunch of other goodies. The whole Siam Society menu is available after five. The cocktail menu was chock-full of cleverly-named libations(like the Lady Boy) with top-shelf booze. The housemade ginger ale was amazing, as was a second drink with Mekhong whiskey, bitters, more ginger, and pineapple juice($ 6). They have several taps and a few cans/bottles of beer, from Ranier at $ 1.50 to some fancier micros. Something for everyone. The guy working was super cool, took great care of us, and I will definitely be back. I’m still shocked no one was in there, but we were told there clientele base is actually almost all regulars who’d show up in a couple of hours, not so much street traffic. Fine by me! I’ll take a spot on that deck any time. Careful descending those stairs after a couple of Lady Boys, though.

One of the best things about Alberta is not what is seen right away on the street, but rather what is hidden. While walking along amongst friends for some drinks, we noticed some stairs on the side of the street. We followed suit and noticed there was a bar on the 2nd level complete with outdoor seating. The guy was busy getting things set up so we came back an hour later. Once we arrived, we took our seats on the upper deck. Water was delivered and the guy mentioned happy hour food was served all night. Although not part of the happy hour, the drink prices were also pretty reasonable too. My whiskey drink gave me a sweet buzz and I was able to hear my companions while the festivities were taking place in the lower level. The guy came back often to make sure we were taken care of. I noticed the food looked fabulous so it was a good sign special care is factored in. It is definitely worth coming to the 2nd level of the building to escape and relax. We felt very welcome and I even made the extra effort to use the bathroom that everyone else was praising on.

Tiny and tucked away behind the Siam Society, this little lounge is rarely crowded and always enjoyable. I haven’t experienced much of their food, but they do offer champagne and a wonderful asian-themed cocktail list. Service is always on-point, and walking up the back stairs into this cozy enclave reminds me of a treehouse with a well-stocked bar. And until I get my mansion with my own treehouse and champagne cocktail bar, I will stick with the Soi Cowboy Lounge, thank you.
