I had a bit of a conundrum in my back yard recently… actually, it’s been a conundrum back there for about 15 years, it’s just that the most RECENT issue was that my lovely neighbors have piled so much trash up in their back yard(all pushing on my fence) that finally, my fence was compromised, and I had to have it replaced. I called 4 different places for estimates. Jason’s bid was the second lowest. But I did not hire Jason because of his price. When I asked for estimates, the trash was still pushing on my fence. The first guy told me very clearly that all he wanted to do was put the fence up; that’s what he does, and I totally understand that. But Jason’s attitude was different. He could immediately see the need for the fence, and he said something like, «Don’t worry; we’ll get this done.» And he explained to me that legally, he’s got 2 feet on the other side of the property line to work with. Jason gave me a sense of security and I hired him because I believed that no matter what it looked like back there when the original fence was removed, he was not going to pansy out on me… that he would actually get the job done, and done securely, even if it meant he had to deal with the other guy’s stuff. We set a time that was good for both of us. I told him I’m usually up at around 10:00AM, and hoped it didn’t slow his roll too much. He said, «no problem, see you then.» Another thing, is that I forgot to move my truck the night before. He and his helper waited for me to leave for work, before using the driveway. He could have asked me to move the truck, but I think he was simply being respectful of the fact that I was getting ready for work. I really appreciated that he put my needs first. I paid half up front, and half when we finished, and talked to him a bit this morning. I’m very glad I hired him, and would absolutely hire him in the future as new work becomes available.

I don’t write reviews that often, but I wanted to say something about this fence guy, Jason. First off, he did an amazing job on my dad’s fence. And more importantly, he’s a really stand up guy. He didn’t do a hard sell on my dad who’s getting up in years. He didn’t sell. He just told us like it was. My dad had wanted to replace all of the fence, some of it looked pretty beat up, but Jason told us that he could replace some of bent posts and reuse the chain link when it was extended around to the front yard. So he saved us money on that. He even painted the new and old fence so it all matched. He was very honest and forthright, and maybe a little rough around the edges. But too me that’s better than a slick sales job. The other thing is he doesn’t just do fence stuff, he’s coming back later in the spring to build some raised beds for my dad’s garden.
