I went into Spark for the first time in the early afternoon on Christmas Eve. One of the owners was working and I told her that I was looking for a creative gift for my 9 year old daughter. She recommended a set containing clay, tools, and a photo book with clear instructions. The set was a big hit with my daughter. Before I left the store, the other owner showed up. She was super cool too. The store has a great selection, reasonable prices, and a lot of inspiration. I will be back.

I took my 3 year old and 5 year old to the messy art open play today and it was fantastic. There were several tables set up with different and interesting art materials and the teacher, Marla, explained the materials and options of how to use them. She was very patient and encouraging while helping several children with different projects all at the same time. This was perfect for a cold Portland morning and both of my children were engaged with and experimented with their open ended projects. There is a laid back, anything goes type of atmosphere. I didn’t get a chance to look around at the store side but it looked full of fun activities for kids and adults.

8-year-old son asks me everyday. «When are we going back to do art?» Great teacher and run by two lovely and caring people. Go twice a week but would go more often if time permitted. And I can only imagine how awesome it will be to have my son’s b-day there.

I discovered this awesome little craft store on Unilocal and I was quite pleased and enjoyed myself a lot. Employees were super sweet and I love all of the wonderful creative options they have to offer. Thank You Spark! :-)

Located in a true old school strip mall. Plenty of supplies to choose from. There is a sitting area for little ones to eat thier ice cream(from BR in same strip mall) while the adults shop around. I also saw a sign for a class called«Messy Art», sounds like a fun time.

Great find in NE Portland. Took my cautious toddler here and he enjoyed checking out all of the different stations they had to offer on their open play day. painting, clay, sculpture, noodles, giant robot painting! So many options for even the pickiest little man. At only $ 5 an hour, and you get to take home your art work, I was more than impressed. The owners are so sweet and helpful and there are great art supplies to explore to try your own projects at home. Highly recommend checking out.

We just found this amazing arts center. The kid’s messy art sessions are wonderful, with many projects for kids to learn and explore. The owners are so inviting and friendly. They also have a really nice little gallery, supply store and great classes for adults too! This is a true neighborhood treasure.
