Aaahhhh, another fine taqueria blesses our little slice of 82nd Ave heaven. While similar to most other taquerias in many respects, Taqueria Las Pasadita is cleaner than most. They offer the usual fare of tacos, burritos, sopes, tortas, tostadas, and entrees like arroz con pollo. The prices are low($ 1.5 for the tacos), and the portions generous. 3 tacos and I am way more stuffed than $ 4.50 should make me. The offerings are as authentic as many other local taco joints — the tacos come double tortilla with a generous helping of meat. The Carnitas are quite good, and the seasoning on the asada is much more complex than at most other places. I would highly recommend it. Also, instead of putting the onions and cilantro on your tacos for you, they have a little salsa bar with pickled onions, regular diced onions, cilantro, limes, and numerous different salsas, including roja, verde, and avocado salsa. All are obviously home made and quite good. Watch out for the roja, it’ll get you. As for drinks, Las Pasadita offers the standard mix of sodas, Mexican Coke(love that real cane sugar), and horchatas. I never seem to make it past the generous size burritos or tacos here… I guess some time I will have to try the mariscos or the other plates. Having just come back from Mexico, I had to eat here and compare, and I was not disappointed at all. Tastes just like the street food in PV(except here they don’t press their tortillas right in front of you, like they do in the streets of PV). The staff are all quite friendly. Numerous times I have walked into a taqueria full of Mexicans(me being the only white guy), and were it not for the welcoming of the guy who runs the joint, things could be, well, awkward. They never were. Even the cook says hi. Nice guys. Also, if you are looking for some fresh cooked chicharrones, look no further. These guys make their own, and sell it for a quite reasonable price. If you don’t know what chicharrones are, I’ll let you look that one up on wiki. So all in all, I can’t give these guys anything less than 4 stars. While it didn’t knock my socks off quite enough to make it to the 5-star level, I find myself coming back more and more often. I could foresee adding another star once I have tired of the burritos and tacos and start trying the house specialties. Good food, good people, good place. (oh, and as a hint, don’t park out front. It’s almost impossible to get out of that strip back on to 82nd. Park in the lot next to Area 69. It’s much easier.)
