Tea Chai Te

I don’t know Jack about tea so I can’t hop on that bandwagon. I will say that everything I’ve ever ordered here (ignorantly or otherwise) has been tasty.
That said, I walked in at 318pm, entered the line as the second person, and got my standard layman-​person chai at 353. (20ish in line, the rest after ordering.)
The atmosphere in here is great, which is a nice touch as you’ll have plenty of time to appreciate it.
Tip: order your stuff to go. It looks like they prioritize to go orders above those ordered for in-​house even if the togo was ordered after.
Wait no, wrote that too early, mine came in a Togo cup too.
4.25 is a good price for good chai, 40 minutes is not.

So nice to find a place that knows how to steep and serve tea (hot or iced) that is consistently perfect!
Place is usually pretty clean.
Crowd is usually mixed ages but is mostly female (brothas don’t drink tea I guess?) and expect a lot of teeny boppers coming for bubble tea.
Seating options are varied.
Free Wi-​Fi is fast and easy to connect to.
Bathroom is quite nasty, so minus one star. Sorry.

The tea is amazing — try the lavender bubble tea! The wi-​fi is good and the tables big enough for your computer so you can get stuff done. Or you can sit in a comfy chair or enjoy the sun porch outside. No loud music, but people are talking, so bring your headphones. A great place to work or meet someone or just chill!

The bubble tea is pretty good, and the location is awesome. I felt the local vibes. I think that it is smart to have a wall of different teas that the customers can smell to see if they’d like it.

My first time there, in they had samples on the wall of different tea flavors and smells and I wanted to smell them and try them all on my first time but you know how it is I have to order one tea at a time. I love this place and I recommend it to anybody who wants a relaxing morning on a (retired) train with premium to rare teas!

Ambiance is fantastic, TONS of tea options. Sitting in the little train seats is so much fun. Great spot to go alone or with friends.

Tea Chai Te in this location specifically is one of my favorite hang outs. Its really cute inside and relaxing for reading, homework or for a small group of people to converse with. They have a variety of teas and drinks including bubble tea which can be served warm or cold. Great place to check out and cute atmosphere.

My husband and I will find ourselves heading over to this tea shop for many reasons. The eclectic-​ness of having a tea shop (only in Portland, I know) in a caboose is enough to raise one’s curiosity, but we don’t really go there for that.
The tea selection is amazing and the service is great. The music selection is questionable.
One tiny suggestion for the new room that they added: it would be great if it were made into a «quiet only» room for those who are studying or reading.

Definitely not relaxing

I thought I had been here in the past, but truthfully I think I was mistaken. Fantastic coconut chai. Tea house includes caboose with hidden above tables and two extra rooms. One room had a cozy fireplace. I loved the homemade pottery mugs our Chai was served in. Full tea menu including other teas besides chai. Very fun and curious Establishment in downtown Sellwood. I really love it, feels like a must tea house for Portland.

I like this location even better than the one in the Alphabet district. Such a cool ambience, and the lavender bubble tea is consistently amazing, unlike the other location. Lately they’ve been giving me watery bubble tea. But this place is always on point! Plus it’s in a caboose and sometimes Elvis, the fat and adorably fluffy neighborhood cat, can be found hanging out in there. What’s not to love?

I moved to Portland last week and I can say without a doubt this will definitely be my new tea/​bubble tea place.
Which is important because everyone needs a regular tea place.
From the outside it looks small but once you walk in your realize it has various seating sections that go all the way back.
The cutest is the converted train car, but you can also go cozy next to their big fireplace or outside when there is some nice weather. But being that it’s Portland that probably won’t happen during the winter season.
When it comes to ordering you have some big decisions to make. Do you want green, black, white, oolong tea etc. or would you rather a tea latte or some bubble tea (hot or cold).
Decisions decisions.
My first time here I decided to go simple and order dragon pearl jasmine (green tea).
It was simply delicious.
I sat and enjoyed my tea in a comfy arm chair in the train caboose.
Anyhow, I’m excited to make my way around their tea selection and I could go for a nice cup of tea right about now.

Everything about this establishment is adorable. From the building itself to the interior décor, to the couches and outdoor seating area, I was a fan. I’m only taking one star off because when I was there, the trash bin was OVERFLOWING and trash was on the floor. The trash takes just a minute to throw out, no matter how busy you are. It was unsightly.
Anyway besides that, they have over a hundred different teas you can smell on their tea wall and you can purchase by the ounce. The lady who was working was very knowledgable in her teas. She was patient and even gave me advice on how to brew the perfect cup at home with my newly purchased loose leaf tea.

I have been walking past this place nearly all my life but I only recently went in. WOW. I felt like I entered the door to Narina. First of all the place is HUGE. I thought it was just the caboose car. But it is actually a really pleasant space. I love the outdoor space, and how there is always a nice breeze and a sweet smell. I could spend all day at this place.
I have only had chi tea lattes so far. They were good, but not the very best I’ve ever had. I don’t think that they have any coffee drinks, and not much in the way of snacks (making it hard to spend ALL day hanging out, a girl’s got to eat…). Next time I’m going to get a pot of brewed tea.

I love the idea that this little tea shop has part of it inside an actual caboose. That totally adds to the already comfortable atmosphere and cuteness of this place. It has all of the typical old furniture to sit in and the atmosphere is quiet which I like. There is music playing but it’s not too loud so you can have a conversation or listen to your music without having to turn it all the way up.
When you walk in you enter the caboose part of the tea shop which is where I am sitting. It has three different area of it including the first part which is the largest area to sit in. There is a couch and four soft chairs to sit in. The next area is very cool because it has two raised areas where you can sit in the top of the caboose by climbing up a ladder. There is enough area for two people in the two upper sections of the caboose seating area. I didn’t sit up there because I wanted the comfy chairs due to old skateboarding injuries.
After the caboose area you can then go down the stairs and they then turn and the counter is there. There is also a big area where you can smell the teas they have which is always nice. This area also has five tables for sitting with one table that can seat four people. To your left you will see there is an outdoor garden area for sitting but sadly it was raining.
There is one more room in the back that has four tables that can seat four people. Actually they are more like tables for two pushed together.
The tea selection is the same as the other branches of this shop here in Portland and back home in our great city of Seattle! I like the other PDX (Portland) location too because they have that awesome patio where you can sit outside and enjoy your tea on the second floor.
I like their green teas but I wish they had a bigger selection of non-​flavored black teas. Their flavored teas are good but I prefer the pure stuff most of the time. Now that I say that I could go for some black tea flavored wth papaya or persimmon. Tea is my candy!
The woman who waited on me was very friendly and polite. She also brought my tea out to me which I like. This is a great place to kill an hour or two enjoying a tea and relaxing.
Great place… I’ll be back next time I’m in Portland.

This place has the coolest ambiance of any café I’ve had the pleasure to visit. The caboose is the highlight, with comfy chairs and ladders leading to lofted tables, but the main portion of the café also has cozy nooks and crannies that will appeal to any guest (including a fireplace room and a back patio). In addition to the unique space the customer service was incredible and the chai tea latte was the best I’ve had in years. Don’t miss this spot!

Three stars for the milk tea. Four stars for the oolong tea. Therefore, 4 stars overall. This is a cute tea spot in Portland with a wide selection of teas. They have a whole wall of tea leaves that you can smell. They have seating indoors and outdoors.
The milk tea was flavored with power that was actually sour (strawberry) and my friend that had the original milk tea, said hers was too sweet. The boba that we got was hard/​firm (not a pleasant chewy/​soft) texture. I didn’t finish my drink/​bona because it just wasn’t good.
Friends also had coconut oolong tea (recommended by the worker). You can have it hot or iced. My friend was pleased with the taste/​flavor of her tea. You can also opt to have it sweetened.
Good foot traffic here. So that is a good sign. I just would not recommend the milk tea or the boba based on my experience.

This place is amazing! If you are a tea lover or even slightly into tea you can find something here. Sure, service isn’t speedy but teas need time to steep. Be patient, enjoy the charming quaintness of the shop, and smell all their teas along the wall. I had an iced Rose Peony and it was floral and delicious. I’m only in town for a week and will absolutely be back before heading home.

I love this place! I’m a coffee drinker at heart but this place inspires me to be more of a tea drinker! They have an extensive menu of teas for whatever your mood fancies. They also have really good Kombucha.
They have an upper level with comfy couches and chairs (the entryway) and a lower level set up with tables and a tea bar where you order. Then they have a little outdoor area to sit where you can get in touch with your inner zin (very therapeutic place if the weather is right).
It’s nice to have a tea shop amidst all the coffee shops. Very Portland and I love it!

Tea-​topia!!! This place is exactly why I love Portland. It’s a hipster box car with a living room and a zen garden patio out back. There are over 140 teas, including 20 handcrafted chai blends. Lumbersexuals rejoice: They offer 6 types of milk (whole, non-​fat, soy, rice, hemp, almond) and all types of eclectic wood furniture pieces, how can you complain?! They also even have an apothecary menu that offers tea blends for things like headaches, hangovers and detoxing. Pull on a beanie, tie that flannel around your waist and get to this delightful hippie haven!
