8:10 pm on a Friday night. 20% capacity, Which is OK, since I’m not looking for a crowded place. Signs outside prominently state«cocktails.» I’m thinking this place knows cocktails. Allows food cart food at the bar from next-door. Dark bar. Interesting selection of beers on chalkboard, including a known, award-winning beer from Montana. I observe. Frozen margarita slush machine… Not a good sign. Looks like a dive bar, but the name is ironic. High dive? Probably so because the bartender knows her cocktails. Do you have Luxardo, I ask? Yes, she says. How about Rye, sweet vermouth, and Luxardo? Not on the cocktail menu, but she knows.(A «Brooklyn,» I say to myself. Will she get it right?) She mixes. I ask, and she hands me a little bottle of orange bitters, for 5 dashes. Completion. Perfect. I like this place. Lots of locals come by. Neighborhood bar feel. Nice.

This is such a cute little cool bar. Wonderful outdoor smoking space which is almost as big as the interior. The bartenders are friendly and can make almost anything. There’s no food but you can down the block and find some tasty food carts. You can even bring the food back to the bar. Only negative is there’s only one bathroom and with all the beer floating around there was a line most of the time.

Started going here in August when the Jolly Roger lost their liquor license. Best thing ever. High dive is my new local go-to. Great bartenders, outside covered seating and Jell-O shots for when you really want to feel like shit in the morning. Check it out.

Chill happy hour spot. Small selection but not bad. Five head tap spread. Cider included. Got a nice outside siting area.

You can eat Pyro Pizza here. Literally, they will walk your pizza over to you from the food carts so that you can enjoy it in the lounge-y atmosphere of the High Dive. Also, I believe they do SIN every night. Often have DJ’s on the weekends too. But mostly, you can chomp on food from the 12th and Hawthorne food cart pod at this lovely lil’ joint, which is just so damned gracious and neighborly. Reason enough to give them your business.

Another cool little bar in Portland. The bartender was nice and the happy hour was decent. I’ve been very disappointed by the rum selection in Portland(maybe I’m just not looking in the right places?), but High Dive carries Flor de Caña! Whoop! Whoop! They have a small food selection, but the food carts on the corner will bring your order to the bar.

The High Dive has become my official go to spot for Blazer games and casual meet-ups with friends. I’m so thankful to have found this gem of a bar. The bartenders are all hilarious, friendly and I hope this is okay to say, but also good looking to boot! It’s the perfect size, never gets annoyingly crowded where you have to wait for a drink. They have an outdoor area and they let you bring in food from outside vendors. It’s laid back, clean and comfortable. All my thumbs are up.

Want to watch a Blazers game with your friends who are smokers? This is your spot. Great beers on tap, very much heated and covered patio with a big tv. Food is pretty good.

Uhmmm can I say ridiculously awesome?! YES, YES, YES!!! Bartender(Nicole) was rad and had me laughing the entire time I was there. We are from West Virginia and she was more than open to putting the march madness game on for us. THISGIRLNEEDS A RAISE!!! Let me say it again, Nicole was fantastic and I can tell she loves what she does. The patrons were also amazing with giving suggestions on where to go and walk at to do within the area. If I lived here, this place would be MYJAM!!!

Based strictly on the ability to go from sober to drunk in very few drinks this bar is a solid 5 star! Friendly and attentive staff despite the drunken clientele. I like that you can order food from the pod next door. It’s easy to make everyone happy with that many food choices. I can’t call this place a dive. There is just way too much energy in here for that. It’s also way too clean and the well liquor doesn’t taste like a science experiment.

Came here on Christmas eve armed with some poutine from Potato Champion right next door. Our bar tender was super nice and friendly, and the general feel of this place is exactly how I like bars to be. It felt divey and laidback without feeling dirty like some dives can be. If I lived in the area I feel like I’d be here a lot.

The encouragement to bring in food cart food is great. I love the location, the outside seating is obviously a huge plus even in the winter because the patio is heated and the décor is great. The music playing was a fantastic mix and the people that were there were low key, not obnoxious and an all around good mixture of like minded individuals who just wanted a chill relaxing place to have a beer, a bite to eat(from the food carts) i noticed. Altough the bar does serve like 5 food items. Don’t expect much for service though. It’s nothing to get excited about.

I hate getting off work at 5 and rushing across town to make it to happy hour before it ends at 6. High Dive understands people like me, which is why theirs ends at 7. $ 3 pints, $ 3 wells, $ 4 glasses of wine, and $ 1 jell-o shots. Yes, jell-o shots, don’t try to pretend like you’re above them! There’s also nachos, chili dogs and other similar munchies in the $ 2-$ 3 range. High Dive’s patio is the perfect place to sit for a couple hours. They even show films out there(double features!) during the spring and summer. They have a margarita machine. It’s incredible. One of the best margarita’s I’ve had. Two microbrews, three jell-o shots and two margaritas only set me back $ 21(!!!) and left me happily stumbling into Cartopia next door.

Normally I love this bar… It has a nice patio and it’s close to food carts! BUT… Me and my friends are all servers in the food industry… We all tip 30−40%. We ordered a red bull and the bartender.(Not to name names… But… Nicole) told us. «Ugh. You better leave a tip.!» Wut.

Super cheap drinks, dark atmosphere, definitely a locals joint. It smells like cumin inside which also resembles B.O. in a way but I believe the smell was coming from their chili for fries or chips behind the bartender… or so I hope it was.

They have a big tented porch where you can drink sort of on the sidewalk at a picnic table; they probably take down the tent walls when the weather gets nice. Inside, it’s kind of a standard funky neighborhood spot that’s fun – a few booths and tables, some cool original oil paintings on the walls. The staff here and very friendly and charming, and they look like they mix a ton of drinks. The beer list is fairly meaningless for the beer nerd, but by no means is it bad. We grabbed a booth and had a couple beers with our food cart meals. Great setting and nothing wrong with it at all, just not a fancy destination place.

Loved this spot. Our friends brought us here on a Sunday night, so it was pretty chill. I can see how this joint could double as both a great neighborhood local & a rippin good night out depending on when you are here. Great bartenders that make fantastic drinks and serve up beers with a friendly smile. The soundtrack made me equally as happy, and the bartender was cool with taking requests on this less than packed night. She was quick to fill them too! Talkin bout drinks and requests. The indoor/outdoor layout is pretty cool whether you want to grab a quick smoke or hang at the picnic tables. Tecate tall boys ain’t a bad thing either. I think if I lived near The High Dive, I’d be there so much they’d shout my name like Norm from Cheers when I walked in.
