The V Shop

Sadly we just sold our Volvo but as a new Unilocal user id like to review the shop that took care of our xc-​90 for the last several years.
This place was bar none the best place for service. The staff was professional and honest. They always told us exactly what was needed and gave us very fair prices.
When we eventually purchase another Volvo, The V Shop is the ONLY place we will go.

I’ve been taking my various Volvo’s here for a long time… before they were the V Shop even! They have always fixed what needed fixing, on time and at/​under budget using the best parts. Before finding Peter’s shop, Before finding the V Shop, I’d used several Volvo specialists in the Portland metro area, and none of them (including several dealers and several independent Volvo only shops) come close to the level of quality and service that the V Shop provides. As long as I have a Volvo, it will go to the V Shop for service.

Great service! Polite, professional and patient. Kyle answered question after question about the current service as well some that we anticipate in the coming year. The work is great too — we’ve been taking our xc70 there for the last 85,000 miles. Let’s hope the car holds up for the next 85,000!

I’ve been going here for a couple years ever since they gave the lowest bid on a computer malfunction on my ’04 XC. When there are persistent issues, as happens when your mileage goes over 150K, these guys will work with you and make you happy. Kind of feels like dropping the child off at daycare; you expect a better kid when you pick it up, and certainly can talk if something’s wrong.

My 1995 Volvo 850 Turbo has seen the inside of most of the Volvo specialty shops in Portland in my quest to find a good one. The guys at the V Shop rate above the rest! I would absolutely recommend them to any other Volvo owner looking for a shop that is convenient, very communicative, reasonable and trustworthy.

Great guys, honest, hard working and will get it done right the first time. It can be hard to get an appointment, but well worth the wait. Check them out!

Geez… where do I start? Trustworthy, fair, helpful, polite, easy to talk to, conveniently located. I guess the list could go on and on, but what I will say is that if you own a Volvo, especially a newer (*clears throat*) more complicated one, then the V Shop is your place!
I have known owner Peter Linssen a LONG time, and he is the only person I trust with my Volvos. Granted, I do a lot of the easy work myself, but when things get hairy, or beyond my level of expertise or tools, my cars go straight to the V Shop.
Peter’s guys know what they’re doing, using the latest factory technology and software, as well as certified tools to keep your Volvo on the road and looking good! And they’re so well connected throughout the region and the Volvo community that if they need to reach out for additional information or technical knowledge, they know exactly where to go or call.
Yes, I highly recommend them, and not just because I know the guys. They really do know their stuff, and treat all their customers like human beings!

Best shop in town. I wish I still had a Volvo so I could come in here again. These guys are great, honest and very nice. Dont waste your time or money anywhere else.

I’ve taken my car here a few times after going to the dealership and another Volvo place in town and I’ll keep going. Reasonably priced, they know what they are talking about and have good customer service

If only the dog had not outgrown the car.
Our V40 wagon was our first Volvo, we loved it. It was fast, peppy, and seemed to be the perfect choice for a new dog owning family who enjoys the out doors. Unfortunately it was only a matter of months before the dog out grew the car. We found ourselves with no room for anything else and had to move up to an SUV. None the less during the 6 months or so that we owned our beloved V40 we went to the V-​Shop for V-​Shop for our regular maintenance.
Over the phone these guys were quick, professional and strait forward. In person it was even better, I felt like they really wanted to do what was best for me and the car and not what would add the most coin to the till. When presented with minor issues I was given several options and even told that things could wait and would not have to be done at this time etc. It was a refreshing experience not to be pressured or to have scare tactics presented.
Again I am trying hard to support local business and I would urge others to do the same.

Heck yes to Volvos! Ahem. I bought a used station wagon that was cheap as dirt but obviously in need of repair. My roommate had some friends who are Volvo enthusiasts and they recommended this shop. It’s a little out of the way, making dropping your car off and getting a ride a bit of an event but I believe it’s well worth it.
They gave me a great overview of what exactly needed to be fixed and even went so far as to explain it to me in much detail mechanically (with patience as I am not versed in this area). They didn’t treat me like an idiot. Also, since the list of repairs was quite long, they broke it down in to what was absolutely necessary and what could wait a bit. They were quick as well, only took them a few hours after they called to give me the break down. When I went to pick my car up they were clean, professional and friendly.
Most of the reason I think I had a good experience with this shop is due to the high level of organization. It takes a week or so from the date you call to get your car in because you have to make an appointment for a specific day. So if you’re looking for an emergency fix you might have to look elsewhere.
