The food and service were both delightful… Will definitely be back! Of the 4 entrees we had in our group, all were expertly prepared and nicely presented… The atmosphere was nice and was quiet enough for conversation. We had a great time

Great chicken, even better fish & chips, the best in town I would say. This is a true blue Sports Bar that’s one of a kind… meaning just one Wooden Chicken, not some corporate in and out in an hour, we don’t really care what were serving kinda joint.

Service so slow, cannot count on having lunch when it takes an hour to prep a sandwich. Fyi, men with their name on their uniform dont have all day like the old, obviously retired people. We only get 1 hour. GETIT? And on top of it the rudness of the waitress is ridiculous. Will never return

I try to never come here the staff here is rude. I’m also confused because I moved here from San Francisco and I thought it was a niners bar? I don’t get that vibe at all but A for effort? The place is ok overall… they really need new waiters. It kills the vibe of the bar…

The rammer burger was AWESOME!!! Best burger I have had in a long time. The fries not so much. Nice neighborhood bar. I have drove by all my life and stopped by for the first time last week. We will be back definitely.

We go in and sit down. We sit for about 10 mins. Waitress and bartender are up at the bar, doing nothing. Except bartender is eating food. I made eye contact. Finally about 3 mins later the waitress comes over. I order my drink. Then Sam asked her if she could make a certain drink. Waitress replies with attitude«I don’t know how to make that, you will have to wait until the next bartender comes on». Instead of saying«I’m sorry, I don’t know how to make it, can you tell me how, and I will try to do my best». She was rude, and didn’t even try to make it, or offer something close to it. I canceled my drink, and said we will go else where, thank you. She didn’t even apologize and try to get us to stay. She had a I don’t give a flying fuck attitude.

I love eating here… the food is great
BUT Why do they continue to keep the crabby, rude waitress everyone complains about? I assume she is an owner… if not why is management so loyal to such a poor excuse for a waitress… she can’t be making much money on tips… many of us will NOT go in there until after 4 o’clock when we know she is gone… would someone post why they keep her…

You know it’s really not a bad bar, it’s a sf 49er bar GO Sea hawks! Lol food is ok, they don’t have coors on tap I think they need it on tap, just saying. A lot of TV screens for sports good thing. They have a great cruise inn fun fun a lot of classic cars.

TWOSTARS since it’s not the entire ship that stinks — it’s really just one sailor out of an entire crew. in looking at some of the reviews on here … i’m not the only one who shares the same opinion about the service. i went there during the day and was actually insulted by the server. i’m a pretty nice person and i’m always truly grateful for service … even if it’s not the best. i thought maybe she was having a bad day … but that’s not the case. apparently most of the clientele accept this … so they can have her. maybe the owner needs to give her more vacation time? i won’t be back there as long as my heart has a beat.

Decent beer as taco Tuesday’s are exceptionally good. Cheap place for happy hour and meet some friends after work. The servers are very friendly and almost every game is on the big screen I I go there to watch a game. I will be stopping by in the future.

I really liked this place, but I enjoy laid-back taverns where people aren’t trying to impress each other or be more hipster than Portland itself. It’s an older set. The fish and chips are excellent, with fresh halibut, nicely cooked. They had a good beer selection, too, and I enjoyed a Worthy Brewing stout from Bend. On this Sunday afternoon one of the servers called in sick. The lady who gets a bad rap for service was working the place by herself, and seemed frazzled. I wasn’t in a hurry, so I got a beer and waited patiently. She appreciated this, because several people were being vocal about the extra wait, even though she was obviously running around like the proverbial chicken(not a wooden one). The cook even came out to help clear tables. I’ve worked with an abrupt woman very much like her — just don’t waste their time or ask silly questions and they’re fine. Even if they are grouchy, don’t write them off completely. They’re usually interesting. It’s a 49ers bar for sure, and I’m not sure they’ve ever taken down the hundreds of taps, neon lights, and other chotchkies on the walls and ceiling. Visually it’s a bit much, but I suppose it’s part of the charm. It didn’t feel crowded on a slow day, but would on a busy one. There’s even a small dance floor on one side. I liked that the pool tables were in a separate room. They were pretty worn, and the cues, too. They’re 6 ft. tables, not 8 ft.

Decent bar food, friendly good service. Had the Halibut and Buffalo wings. Had some good local Pale Ale. The place is full of TVs and the walls are covered in hundreds of beer taps and beer swag or sports memorabilia. The place is pretty large with many table and chairs. I will be going back to try more menu items and more beer.

Went there to eat and have a drink after a long day. We were greeted by friendly staff, the drinks came out quick, food was good, and service remained friendly throughout the night.

A large group of us went there last night and the old lady was just leaving. We have had run in’s with her before. Don’t go until after 4 and you will get Robin and she is just a peach. She was One if the best servers we have every had and we go to a different spot every Friday night. All of our group was telling her how much we appreciated her service and kindness. Penner you need to watch her in action. The food there has always been excellent and we have been going there since the the 90’s.

Ok was here today & behold! I was let down again by the notorious rude older lady who everyone seems to have a problem with! The bad thing is there are some great servers here & The Chicken is a landmark in NE Portland! We used to come here quite a bit but I guess I will go elsewhere if «the devil» is working!

Great neighborhood tavern. Family like atmosphere. Good specials, nice people, decent food. Older crowd, fair amount of tv’s and a couple of pool tables. Fish, burgers, waffle nacho, salads, and chicken and Jo Jo’s yumm!

I’m a big 49ers fan and It’s my first Sunday in Portland. So of course I was on the hunt for a bar to cheer on my team. A quick google search for Faithful bars gave me , which in turn led me to the Wooden Chicken. Food: Food was ok. I ordered breakfast since it was a 10am game against the Saints. The eggs, hash brown, and sausage reminded me of a truck stop level of quality. Probably frozen, and pretty bland. Also the coffee was watery. The Wooden Chicken is a working mans style bar across the street from the train tracks. You know«the beer will get you drunk and the food will get you full» type of place. I’m sure food is an after thought. But no big deal I came for the game and to support the local Faithful, not for the food. Service: The service was great! Our server was attentive and quick to refill your drink. When we mention that the coffee was watery she went back and made a fresh pot stronger. Very nice and pleasant lady. Fans: The 49er atmosphere was lively! Everyone was cheering, chanting, banging drums for defense, and even Faithful members doing victory laps with a 49ers flag. Pretty impressive for a locally broadcasted Sunday morning game. As a new comer to this Faithful group it was fun but fell short a little compared to my former local Vegas 49ers empire bar. For example back in Vegas they had a 49er fan in charge of going around and making sure any new Faithful that came out that game day where acknowledged, had their hand shaken and given a thank you for coming out. Just to make them feel welcome and learn their name, making it feel more like a family. Also the game volume wasn’t loud enough for me, I couldn’t hear the game over people talking some times. But other than those few complaints, and the guy sitting next to me with the chicken strip and miller light burps, overall it was an energetic crowd and I enjoyed it! If there is a game in the future that isn’t televised at home, I’ll be back to the Wooden Chicken! Go niners!!!

Not a bad place to watch a 49ers game. This place is actually«THEPLACE» to watch you 49ers play. Standing room only if you dont get there on time. Great service. The staff is very friendly and the food(rammer burger) was quite satisfying. This layout is a little camped but im sure its not always 49er crazy. Great beer prices and a large variety on the menu to choose from. I grew up in the area and am happy to help out the local«NONFRANCHISE» place. GO49ers!
