Great place with good ol’ diner ambience to sit down and have a hangover meal. Pretty good pizza but way better sandwiches!

Our order: roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy fish and chips — sub the chips for mashed potatoes The roast beef had no flavor, and I mean NO flavor. The mashed potatoes seemed to be of the instant variety and everything was covered in extremely salty gravy! Covered is an understatement, the plate was drowned in gravy. The gravy was one part gravy mix and ten parts salt. It was the worst I have ever experienced. The fish and chips were ok other than the fact that the pieces of fish were very small and way over cooked. They were dark brown and very crispy. I should have ordered the gravy on the side because as with roast beef dish, the plate was swimming in gravy.(fried fish and gravy? yuck!) The coleslaw was about the best thing on either of our plates and it wasn’t very good. I do not think we will be coming back to this place. There seem to be a lot of local regulars that go there, and unfortunately they all looked pretty unhealthy. I can see why if they eat at this place regularly. Too fried and too salty, especially for those who are more at risk for health issues.

We had lunch here the vinney delux burger was great as well as the fries. Service was excellent. There was only 1 gentlemen working the front and 3 other parties can in at the same time as us. He got everyone’s orders and food in remarkable time. We will be back to try your pizza.

My hubby and I had the #8 breakfast sandwich, 2 fried eggs(hard) with mayo, bacon and sourdough toast. We ordered one bacon the other ham. They were decent size, but the bacon was extremely crispy, not too flavorful the ham was actually a ham steak but just very bland we really did not enjoy the sandwiches. They had a weird mustard or pickley flavor I am thinking the mayo was housemade. It had way too much mayo as well, not happy at all, won’t be coming back for breakfast. If ever in the area again, might give their pizza a shot.

My wife and i come here sometimes since we live right around the corner. The food is always good and the staff is always friendly. Yes they have poker machines if you are into that but we just come here for the food and fellowship. :)

Best turkey sandwiches ever. This is our favorite place after shopping at Costco. So nice to sit and relax.

So sorry to have lost the wonderful little lady Bev that worked weekdays there — miss her SOO much! Not the same without her… and incidentally what happened to her cute little twin sister that used to work Saturdays!!! Not worth going in there anymore!

We’ve been in a handful of times. Good food, pizza is awesome. Don’t expect gourmet, as its a more ‘down home’ atmosphere. Recently we’ve seen new staff, so hopefully the service issues others have mention are resolved? No minors inside, so leave the kids at home!

Worst customer service ever in my life. We went in, and it was not busy at all. Every single table was dirty there, and the rude elderly woman hastily harped at us to wait just a minute before seating us. I asked her for lemon and straws for our waters after we had already ordered a pizza. Ten minutes role by and she blatantly ignored the request, so I asked nicely for the lemon again, she grit her teeth and hatefully said in a minute I will get to that. I responded with wow thanks, and she hovered around our table patronizing us asking if we were leaving or not, and yelled at me as we left. Needless to say I will tell everyone I know not to go back to that dirty place.

Extremely disappointed. This cozy place has the potential to be a quiet«go to» restaurant close to home. Instead each time I have visited Uncle Vinnie’s, the waitress(I’ve only ever seen one lady working) has been as bland as the food they serve. Last visit, my boyfriend and I waited a half hour for our check, before we decided to go up front and deal with it ourselves. If you are bothered by inattentive food servers… i wouldn’t bother spending your money here.

We have eaten here on several occasions. It’s either hit or miss. We had breakfast and both my wife and I asked for over easy eggs. They were cooked entirely through. Hash browns are always luke warm. The toast was over cooked. We’ve decided this has happened too many times and will not go back for breakfast ever again.

What this place lacks in service it makes up for in food. The taco salad is really good as is the build your own calzone. The calzone is huuuuuuge and could easily feed two hungry people and have room to take some home. I think they purport to have the best burger and fries. While I don’t remember the Burger, the fries weren’t bad. Though this place has the feel of a bar, they close at 9 and take those hours pretty seriously. I think we came for dinner one night at 8:30 and they were practically vacuuming under our feet. Though I have been here a bunch of times I don’t rank as a regular yet. I think that is reserved for the seniors who can regularly be seen here who live in Argay Terrace also. What’s 2 years on 30+?

I came in here for a quick bite after work, my boyfriend and I sat down and when the server finally made it over to our table I asked if the garden burger came with fries. Her response was to cut me off, shove her finger in my face without saying one word(as if to motion to wait a minute, but only gave me that rude gesture), and walked away. She came back saying they were out so I asked for the taco salad with no meat she asked if I wanted chicken and I said that it was meat so no, to which she rudely and abruptly stated with and attitude, «YEAH, I know.» After I said I was good and didn’t want anything she tried to argue with me that she was just trying to «work something out,» as if she were trying to blame me for her mistake. She was a little older, as was everyone else in there, and this whole interaction was demeaning and rude. I’m 30 years old but she was talking down to me the whole time. I work in the food service industry so I’m usually more forgiving to servers with bad attitudes, but it was dead slow and we were polite. When my boyfriend got up to tell her something about his order, she just said«bye.» Well goodbye to you, Uncle Vinny’s, I hope no other customers of yours have to get treated this way.

By far one of the best Calzones I have ever eaten. Everytime that I am in Portland I stop to have one and a beer. Delicious and highly recommend this place. Next time venture to East Side… and give it a shot.

I can’t believe anyone would think the food here was good ! I just had a meatloaf dinner with NO flavor. Canned green beans, canned gravy, instant potatoes, and a big slab of flavorless ‘meatloaf ‘. And to top it off the service was off. Better off going to Shari’s on 122 nd

Nice little local place. Very clean and neat. There are TVs and they sell lottery tickets if you are into that. I like their sandwiches — try the half turkey. It’s big enough for one person. The Reuben is also tasty. We got them to go and enjoyed. Breakfast was average. Eggs over medium were perfectly cooked and the link sausage was extra good, but the wheat toast was kind of like white bread dyed brown and the hash browns tasteless and lackluster.

My husband and I just moved to the neighborhood in September and read all the good things about Uncle Vinny’s. While taking a break from shopping for a refrigerator, we decided to stop there for a late lunch. The place had just a couple of customers, a difference from the usually packed parking lot that I drive by on my way home in the evening. Once inside, I felt right away this was a place I could like: cozy dining area with a bar(with hooks attached under the counter to hang your purse or coat!), a couple of tvs for sports(or the Food Network!) and lots of memorabilia on the walls. There was one server on staff and she was wonderful, prompt, and personable. My hubby ordered a meaty 16″ pizza(meant all for himself) and I ordered the Original Reuben Sandwich with fries and a pint of Alchemy Ale. She forgot about his RC Cola until the food arrived, but he didn’t mind as he had some water to sip on. The pizza had a nice thick crust and lots of cheese — he could only get through a little over half consumed. I was amazed at how thick the Reuben was! Three slices of marbled rye and plenty of corned beef, gooey cheese, and sauerkraut. I especially liked how the Thousand Island sauce came in a cup on the side so I could taste the Reuben with and without it. That sandwich was delicious, piping hot, and very filling. I had half of it remaining and was happy to have it for dinner later. Uncle Vinny’s is definitely going to be a regular eat out spot for us. It is so nice to have a good local pizza place nearby since on our moving day I called Round Table on 122nd(just 2 mins from Uncle Vinny’s) and was told we were outside their delivery range! For the amount of pizza and the price, I would happily drive the 4 – 5 mins to pick up my order!

It’s places like this that make Portland such a fun place to visit. I was looking for a quick bite to eat near my hotel but did not want to eat some franchise garbage. I was driving by and saw a sign proclaiming this establishment. Uncle Vinnies. Inside was surprisingly simple, small and clean. About a dozen tables, a tiny bar, a few TV sets and apparently there is space set aside for Keno up front. Walls have all sorts of kitschky signs, kind of what franchises like Applebee’s or Cracker Barrel tries to do but fall short in the the originality category. Signs were definitely a source of amusement. Service was very prompt. Waitress was old enough be my grandmother but very nice and friendly. I heard that people in Portland take their breakfast pretty seriously and the menu showed it. Two pages dedicated to breakfasts and sides. They also have sandwiches, dinners, fried fish and pizza. I went with the pizza option as that is what I felt like that night. Ordered a 13 inch Vinnies Special which had Pepperoni, Sausage, Cheese, Olives, Onions and Green Peppers. The pizza was average, reminded me of Papa John’s except more cheese and the sauce isn’t as sweet. They had the right amount of toppings, nothing was overwhelming. The place was just very low key and relaxing, I could see making a regular stop here. Before I leave town, I will definitely have to try the breakfast, Stay tuned for an update.
