Do not come here for alterations. Came in with identical shorts to have hemmed the same length. One came back much shorter so I was unable to wear it. They insist this must have been my fault and said if I didnt want to pay for the incorrect alteration I had to leave the shorts. I was unwilling to pay for their mistake and lost a new pair of shorts. I will never come here again.

Took a mattress cover in that has a broken zipper. They said it would be around $ 30 originally. Called us back and said ITWOULDCOST $ 65! If i was a better seamstress and wasn’t worried about damaging the fabric, I’d do it myself. Really simple job, not expensive and shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes. Insane.

Do NOT take your clothes here! They are absolutely terrible. I had a small ketchup stain on a silk blouse that I took here to be cleaned. When I got the shirt back there was stains running down the front of the shirt– Looked like they tried to spot treat it and then the treatment ran down the shirt. Who spot treats ketchup?! They charged me $ 8 to clean it. Only after I paid did I notice the new spots all over the blouse. They were completely unapologetic and accused me of wearing self tanner. I do NOT wear self tanner, which I nicely explained, but she continued to accuse me that it was my self tanner that they couldn’t get it out because it was my fault for wearing self tanner… Again, I have never worn self tanner. I did not appreciate being accused of something that I do not do. Also, it was a see-through blouse and I always wear a tank top under it so even if I had self tanner on(which I DON’T) it wouldn’t have hit the shirt. They did not offer me my money back or to do anything about ruining my shirt(that I had only worn once). The woman working was rude and did not seem to care one bit she had just destroyed a member of my closet. Dreadful business practice. Their racks are not so full, I envision this place going down– Mostly for the way they treat their customers but also how they are a cleaner that does the opposite of clean. I should have just washed my own shirt, at least I would still be able to wear it! HORRIBLE!

Finally I found a dry cleaner that wanted to get to know me. That may seem silly but I figure if a dry cleaning establishment is going to take care of my wardrobe, see me at least once a week and be on my regular list of investments I want them to recognize me when I come in(after a few times) and call me by name. Uptown takes great care of me and they remember me. If ever a mistake is made(rare…very rare) they always make it right. I recommend them hightly and they will be my cleaning establishment for as long as I can get there!

I just recently took a wool jacket of mine their for cleaning(preparing for the winter-ness and all) and it looks fantastic. Trimmed, clean and awesome. I have a down comforter that also needs to be picked up so I’ll probably do an update as soon as I get around to that. The front desk girl was very nice and the prices seemed legitimate to me. So far, in the neighborhood best spot for sure.

wow. now that i’ve heard what Lisa has to say, i can only surmise that there’s been new ownership takeover in the past 5 years. i’ve only been in a couple of times, since i own negligible amounts of dry-cleanable goods, but both times i went in, the girl(the only girl i’ve ever seen in the place) was exceedingly nice to me and the stuff i brought in was well-handled. the thing that brings it from a «business as expected» to 5-stars is that the second batch of stuff i brought in was costume pieces that i didn’t need back anytime soon. 3 weeks later i came back to get it, and the girl brought it out and said«oh! i think this might be yours, too» and out comes a skinny black tie that surely was mine. i couldn’t imagine where it might have come from, since it was a costume piece but wasn’t used with any of the other stuff i brought in, and i still can’t figure it out, but it ended up on the floor of the place and she found it when cleaning up that night, and had been asking everyone who was in that day(3 weeks ago!) if it happened to be theirs. i was pretty impressed that they/she had it so much together.
