Violet Star Tattoo

I have only been tattooed at the Star one time and it was a very pleasant experiences I have walked into other shops and felt awkward and not welcome. Normally when you go to the star you will most likely meet Ty he is there most of the time. There are other artist that work there but i think he is the only full time artist. Michelle is the owner and she as pleasant as they come. I have recommended many people to the star to get their work done and they have all walked away impressed and happy. Most of them have been tattooed by TY. There has only been one issue with the people i have recommended and it was small and it was a tattoo done by a girl I do not remember her name. The issue was on a blazer symbol the color was backwards but it still worked out and it was something they could live with.

I went to Violet Star this weekend for their Friday the 13^th weekend deals. I thought it was a good idea, and a nice way for them to gain exposure for their new business.
We walked into a nice atmosphere, and a cheerful man who got us signed in and paper worked up. In fact, he was the best part about this experience.
Ty, the only artist there that day, had his portfolio out. His tattoos are very inconsistent. Some are okay, but most are rather shoddy. His line work is not up to par, and I find it hard to believe that he has been tattooing for as long as he has. This is not to say he is a bad artist. The art on the walls and his sketches were beautifully done, but once it came to him producing that art onto a human canvas, he fudged up.
My boyfriend got a simple Tri-​Force tattoo. Ty managed to completely off center it and tattooed the lines on worse than my boyfriends previous tattoos, which were free and from an unlicensed artist. It was very disappointing. This is a tattoo that any decent tattoo artist could replicate easily, yet it came out mediocre. It didn’t deserve to be paid for, or the generous tip my sweet boyfriend gave him.
I was there to get a simple little skull with a crown of roses. Ty drew something up, and my heart dropped. There was no way I was going to let him tattoo me. Luckily the owner of the shop came down and took over my tattoo. She was sweet and gentle, and gave me a decent tattoo. But I still have many complaints and will be going to my primary artist to make it amazing. My tattoo looks unfinished and temporary.
The only reason why I give this shop two stars is because they were friendly. This is the kind of shop where you go in and wonder if they know they are giving bad tattoos. Their sign says «ink done right» which just goes to show how blind they are towards the quality of their tattooing.
That said, they are a new shop. Shops can improve, and tattoos can get better. But until that happens, I can’t recommend this place to anyone. It was very disheartening, and I learned a very valuable lesson about going to shop with no reviews.
