I’m new to the area and I’ve noticed that there is no shortage of diners in the vicinity. Which is good. I like diners, because the food usually has a homemade flavor to it. Plus usually a big and varied menu. Dutchess Diner is no exception. They have a big menu and in-house bakery. I had the chili which was tasty but be warned it comes with a big plate of nachos and cheese. I ordered the American burger and fries. Burger was big, juicy and delicious. Would have loved to try the fresh baked desserts, but I was way too full by then. Next time, I will plan better. You can’t go wrong here. Everything was great, especially our server

This is a very good diner again — the staff and owners work so hard to please. My family had breakfast there yesterday– I had the«Ireland Omelette«which was exceptional. Plenty of pieces of homemade corned beef and potato and cooked well. Our other meals including French Toast excellent too! Recommend highly!

We have frequented this diner for MANY years and enjoy it as one of our favorite«go to» places. The food/service is consistently excellent with some of the very best liver around! Like most diners, there is always a vast selection of tasty offerings, enough to satisfy anyone… Gus, one of the owners, always provides a warm, inviting greeting.

Love this diner!!! Everything about this place screams«class»! The wait staff is friendly and attentive; the food is wonderful and served hot, and the prices are very reasonable. In addition, the whole restaurant is spotless, including the rest rooms. We will definitely be back to the Dutchess Diner/Restaurant.

Dutchess diner has quality food! From their wings to their soups. My children love their chicken noodle soup, it’s homemade and you can tell the difference!

I think some of these reviews are unfair because I’ve always had great experiences at this restaurant and hate to see these bashing reviews. The owners are more then accommodating and very friendly they will bend over backwards to help you out and make sure your experience there is an enjoyable one. The food is always plentiful, and very delicious with creative specials, menu items and delicious deserts it’s always a win win! Try it and you won’t be sorry

I don’t think this is a Greek-owned diner. The burger comes with the option of fries or tabouli. C’mon. My order today was for a cheeseburger with onion rings but I received a bacon, onion, mushroom, pepper burger with fries instead. The waitress told me that the kitchen had mixed it up with an employee’s meal. She did not take ownership of the mistake. A couple in the booth next to ours told us on their way out that their order was also wrong. My burger was well done despite the request for medium. The buns tasted stale and the coffee in a small mug was $ 1.79. The ceiling tiles appeared water-logged and the service was as slow as molasses. This is a one star diner that won a second star for its very good AC. The place is going downhill fast. I see a CVS there soon.

The Dutchess Diner is one of the best food establishments in Poughkeepsie. I have been going to this diner since i was a kid and i have never been disappointed. This business is owned by two lovely people who really care about their costumers. Don’t take you’re business to one of those chains like applebees or chillys. This place actually puts love in their food

12.95 for 10 buffalo wings. The worst buffalo wings in history. Terrible service along with my 12.95 buffalo wings. I’m sure it’s the aftermath of a strip club closing. A bunch of females who are trying to deliver food when there speciality is dancing just doesn’t work. Save your money people and go to Table Talk 5 mins away. That’s a classy place.

I love to have lunch at Dutchess Diner, Thursdays, on route nine They make a homemade Greek style lemon chicken soup It is the best, it is simply… Devine! Then I feast on the salad bar, with choices from A to Z The soup and salad bar combo, is the perfect lunch for me There are other choices on the menu, many fine dishes galore Tasty food, generous portions, you will not need to ask for more Save room for some dessert and fit in the homemade linzer tart That delectable treat alone, sets that particular place apart If you like diners, good food and a staff that is really very fine Dutchess Diner is the place to be, in Poughkeepsie, on route 9

Good for what it is. Despite the 2 star reviews, the diner was good. My boyfriend who was born and raised in Wappingers had been coming to this dinner for years. He says he has never had a disappointing meal. I ordered, an angus burger medium. The burger came out perfect and everything was tasty. The salad bar is also very good and a great option. I will admit this is not the best burger I had, but keep in mind this is a diner! Service was fast and friendly. I would come here again.

If you’re planning on dining at the Dutchess Diner, I suggest that you don’t even step foot in the place. There’s this new rule that they’re enforcing that states that you must order a meal that’s worth at least $ 7.95 or you can’t eat there. In other words, if all that you want is a coffee or a piece of cake, you better hope it’s worth $ 7.95 or you’ll get a mouthful from the diner’s manager. There’s a right way and a wrong way to inform people of a new rule and the way this guy did didn’t even come close to the right one. To give this joke of an establishment even one star is giving the place too much credit, but Unilocal is forcing me to do so.

Fantastic waitress/hostess. Very good breakfast, bacon cooked perfectly. English muffin perfect. Delicious coffee. No long waits. I will go there there again and again. And to top it all off, they had an old-fashioned jukebox. We played 3321 Natalie Cole-OUR love is here to stay. Great way to start the day.

extra gravy ?! I specifically asked for gravy on mashed potatos, extra gravy please. Totally dry and barely any on roast beef. Food tasted good but serving size was small for cost. No rolls either.

Im writing the eulogy for the Dutchess Diner. may she rest in greases. Idk what happened here but I used to come and get salmon and fried portabello mushroom fries with awesome rice. Not the usual fare of a diner I know and I normally would NEVER think about getting such food at a diner but they had some chefs that knew what they were doing. I went recently to get a diner usual, nothing fancy or off the charts but a normal panini with chcken, cheese, some greens and delicious sauces. Ya know, typical. How they managed to mess this up really blew me away. Im taking bites and it keeps tasting more and more like nothing. It goes from bland cheese to dry chicken to cardboard to air. Just air. I’m eating air. If only it didn’t still have calories. Idk who the hell they have back in that kitchen of theirs but in certain an animal could whip up better food. The service is okay, you can tell some of the waiters try and be friendly and do the best they can while others are just college or after college kids hoping to any source out there that they can find a more decent job. Kinda gotta feel bad for them. The only ppl who could actually enjoy this food are maybe those with dentures or ppl who no longer have working taste buds. Even then I think dirt would be more satisifying. With the amount of new diners and diner-like places sprouting up in FIshkill-Poughkeepsie-Hyde Park, this place is bound to have a ‘for sale’ sign in its window any day now. SKIPIT!

What’s a panini? Seriously — someone tell Dutchess Diner. A panini is many things, but it is not a grilled cheese sandwich with stuff thrown in it. I tried to order something that wasn’t bathed in grease, so I ordered a chicken panini — which was a disturbingly greasy, buttery sandwich on white bread. Press that effer into a panini, guys. Seal those sides. It tasted fine, though it was a bit flavorless, and it took almost 30 minutes to arrive. There were plenty of open tables, so I’m not sure how busy they actually were. Our waitress appeared once to deliver food that can only be described as «inaccurate», and never reappeared. Eventually, we got our check from someone else. We hope you enjoy your $ 2 tip, waitress. It’s one dollar for each time you helped us. After we got our check, we headed home pretty quickly for an epic bout with the toilet. No one survived. I spent the rest of the day in bed. I wouldn’t call it food poisoning, but I would suggest that you blot the grease off of your food before you serve it. Just a little. That chicken cutlet could have been magical if it wasn’t glistening with nausea. Dutchess Diner, you disappoint me.

I’ve eaten here a few times in the past and have never been wowed by this joint. Today I was having lunch with my mom(who is a {diner} chicken soup-lover). She ordered the chicken and bow tie soup.(Bow ties were mush… Probably sitting in the soup since yesterday) :-/and half of a tuna sandwich… She didn’t like the tuna at all. I ordered a Reuben with sweet potato fries… The Reuben was pretty good with thinly sliced corned beef. The fries were eh, okay. I’ve had better…(Cole slaw was good and the pickle lacked flavor.) i’m a huge pickle lover so since I didn’t get one I liked, I couldnt help but take half a point off for it! Our waiter Tomas was really nice and very friendly with my(almost 1 year old) daughter. {brownie points}
