Great diner to eat at. Fast service, convient location and I enjoy breakfast here, especially the omelets.

Based upon but a single visit, I believe this to be one of the finest traditional Greek diners in the entire Hudson Valley. As the late Bud Hart always said, «don’t stop at a diner a magnet wouldn’t stick to,» and the Palace has enough metal to build a battleship! The décor is modern art deco, the service is gracious, the coffee is good, hot and keeps coming, and the food is simply delicious.

Palace is by far the best diner in the area; out trumps Eveready most days. I have had many a good experience with the food(«iffy» service) except the last time I ate there. Ordering a salmon wrap, I was very happy with the amount in the sandwich and the quality– until I bit into 3 pin bones! Disgusting and negligent of any restaurant that serves fish! While I want to love this place that is a unforgivable culinary mistake! I’m sure had I ordered in it could’ve been rectified; but ordering to go doesn’t leave much lee way. I would eat here again because it is the BEST in the area, But alas they’re just a diner and their lack of technique and great service proves it.

Concept of a diner revamped! Its huge and service is good. Food is amazing! I ate here twice during my trip. Pasta was wonderful. My favorite was buffalo chicken wrap! The portions are huge so have a good appetite before going there.

Ordered breakfast here, pancakes were delicious. However, it was quite pricey($ 5 for a milkshake) and the waitress was rude. She may have been having a bad day, but it’s still important to be professional in a work place. Other than that, the diner was clean and comfortable.

It’s a pretty good diner with a very wide selection of meals on their menu. However, the deli meat can be improved. The turkey seemed like it was bad quality. One time when I ordered a quesadilla, the guacamole it came with was a white color. I thought that was pretty weird and I didn’t bother trying it. Another complaint was when I ordered a single slice of cake it was very overpriced. Overall, if you know what to order off the menu and stick with that, the food is tasty.

Excellent diner! Eggs Benedict were awesome and hash browns were great. Cheese fries are very tasty with a great cheese ratio. Very good traditional diner atmosphere. Probably my favorite diner in Poughkeepsie.

After getting done with a job in the area I used my phone to find a local restaurant. The Palace Diner was the closest to where we were so we headed to the Palace Diner. The safest way to decide if a restaurant is good or not is to look at the parking lot. We did and after seeing a jammed packed parking lot decided to go in. We both got Meatloaf dinners. We were told that the dinners came with Soup and Salad. HUH? BOTH we thought to ourselves… Most places ask Soup or Salad! We ordered and the complete dinners with the Soup and the Salads were very good. The ONLY reason I did not choose 5 stars is nobody’s meatloaf is better than my Mother’s!

This place is perfect if you need basic diner food. The food comes with a nice grease coat to help a hangover, if that’s what you need. Large menu, decent choices, classic diner atmosphere, and foreign management helps this place maintain the diner standard in the Hudson Valley area.

Really good French dip and onion rings. Hubby had a good Reuben sandwich. Extensive menu & good service.

Most probable, large-room, diner in Poughkeepsie. It is squeezed between Hudson River, Marist and a hospital; no vista views. However the food is fast and delicious, sauces on salads and sandwiches taste the same week to week. Excellent coffee: they don’t mind you sitting for numerous cups, my waitress even brought more creamers. Look over and you may see the President of a college, Yankee fans in pinstripes at the bar, or hung-over college chicks in sweats. Portions come on half hubcap size plates, free wifi and TV screens muted. All around fun place, polite, although hurried, service. Get your lunch on and watch the leaves change.

This was the place to be! I’d go with friends, family, co-workers; it was an all around go diner to go to. You don’t really hear a lot of negative things coming from this place. The only thing I can say is some things are better than other things on the menu(obviously) but the food isn’t always consistent. I could have an AMAZING chicken slouvak(excuse my spelling) one visit and the next it’s sub par :(but otherwise love to come in, relax and order dessert.

Stopped by after visiting Marist College, it was right up the hill, across the street. Large menu, with a lot of yummy original sounding options. We had good, attentive and quick service. Everyone at our table of 5 had something different & all of our dishes were really good. Big thumbs up for my Greek Salad, large fresh and lots of feta and olives. Will definitely be back when in the area again.

When I was in college, my friends and I used to go on «Diner Tours,» which are exactly what they sound like. The tradition sort of died out by the time we graduated, but my introduction to Palace Diner has made me think that it’s time to bring it back(#dinersforever). The best thing about this place is that they have a HUGE menu. It’s a spiral bound laminated book that’s about the width of the average American male’s wingspan, and about a meter tall(slight exaggeration, but it’s pretty large). You can dine on a meal of meatloaf, key lime pie and a bacon omelet, all while sipping on a some simple syrup drenched, bright blue cocktail. It’s awesome. When I go to diners, it’s probably one of the few eateries where I’d rather be pretty much left alone by my servers and they’re perfectly non-intrusive here. Usually, we’re seated, give an order, get our food, and pay — they want to flip our table and we want to get in, eat, and get out. My only real issue with this place is that it’s a kind of weirdly expensive. Their food is fine, but, you know, it’s just diner food. I’ve definitely spent as much at Palace on one thing as I would on one or two menu items at a nicer restaurant. Despite their price, though, Palace offers a very particular service — 24-hour, five minutes from my house accessibility to pretty much anything I could want to eat. French onion soup at three in the morning? Done and done. A cob salad and milkshake for breakfast? Totally. This place is my jam for rocking sweatpants in public and eating enormous plates of breakfast and sandwiches.

Good typical diner food, but poor service. Our waitress never smiled, acted like we were a huge inconvenience to her despite being a quiet group with no special requests. It took 20 min for drinks to be brought out, and when all was said and done they botched how we wanted to split the check(evenly 6 ways – we handed her 6 cards and she somehow split it evenly 5 ways). Bummer.

I’m not big on dinners however this one takes the cake! The food is always good and the portions are fairly sized. They have copious amounts of outdoor seating and the servers are always friendly and fast

Food was good but ambience repulsive! I’ve eaten at tons of diners but this must be the most distaseful diner in Poughkeepsie! I highly recommend Table Talk Diner instead.

All is good at the palace diner… The comfy joe is awesome — meatloaf, mashed potatoes, onion strings and gravy on challah bread… The tex-mex wrap, which I think is a new menu item is great… Breakfast is always good… Great selection and great service… I would give it 5 stars, but it can be a little pricey… If you get a wrap with sweet potato fries and a drink, it can easily be $ 20 with tax and tip… Overall I would recommend the palace to anyone looking for a great variety of good food with good service…

Palace Diner is one of my favorite places to be at 2 in the morning if I’m not already in my own bed. I’ve honestly only been here during daylight hours a few times. However, I have spent many 2 AMs sitting in their booths with my husband and our best friends. This diner is most definitely a fantastic place for hanging out and making memories. Palace Diner makes incredible food. I have a serious caprese addiction and this place truly takes care of it better than almost anywhere else. They have a phenomenal mozzarella sandwich that is my go-to every single time I come here. In reality, it’s technically the Prosciutto & Mozzarella Sandwich if you look on the menu, but I’m a vegetarian which basically causes me to be the weird girl whom asks for the Prosciutto & Mozzarella Sandwich without any prosciutto. However, the waitresses always make it happen for me without any issues whatsoever. Honestly, they are absolutely always extremely wonderful, and there was even one night that the waitress gave my friend a huge plate of the prosciutto that would have gone on my sandwich had I not ordered it without. There was so much prosciutto on that plate that I’m absolutely certain that there is no way all of it would have ever fit on my sandwich had I left it as the Menu Gods suggested. I appreciate receiving and witnessing the small things in life, and that was definitely one of them. That experience truly made my night and left a long lasting impression. Great service and great food. If you’re looking for me, I’ll be the girl sitting in the booth listening to Billy Joel on the jutebox and hanging out with her wonderful friends.

After a few hours of exploring the local area, a friend and I came here for dinner before driving back to NYC. He’d been here before, but this was my first time. The décor on the inside is great and the whole place looked clean. There were lots of delicious-looking desserts in the display case and I’m not sure how I resisted them, haha. Our waitress was friendly and our food came out quick(though they weren’t very busy at the time). I ordered a vegetable quesadilla, which was good, though the pieces of vegetable were rather large. Other than that, the meal was nice and I’d come back if I were in the area again.
