This is a difficult review for me to write. I had an absolutely wonderful conversation with the woman running this store, and the interior was gorgeous and had some pretty cute things. I was taken aback by the ultra-religious thing at first, but was accepting it because what I saw was that they were doing a lot for charity in africa. Upon returning home I came to the slightly baffling realization that that was not what they’re doing. I’m actually really uncomfortable with the reality, now that I see it. Let me be clear… i’m an Atheist and a Secular Humanist, but I am INNOWAY an antitheist. I respect people’s faiths and understand the importance of it. However, I get a tad touchy about when it impedes on my body, my government, or my schools. I am fine with religion as a private institute, but don’t like when it is pushed upon other people. Ergo when I realized that the 50% of sales going to africa statement had to do with money spent to build churches and not hospitals… I felt a little awkward. This place is cute. I am not denying that. It’s great for someone who wants that ultra-religious vibe in their house. There are some really wonderful things there, and the prices are great. I honestly wouldn’t hesitate to go back if I hadn’t found out exactly what the charity they were contributing so significantly to. I wish I could give a place 3.5 stars.
