I’m giving three stars because all of my experiences here have been completely different and I’ve been there several times. Once it was perfection, another time, they lost our reservation for Mother’s Day, a third time, our order got messed up. I’m trying to keep an open mind because I think when Kraft House is good – it’s very good – but they need to be more consistent and organized.

Free valet parking. Great atmosphere and service. we had fried pickles and Cajun chicken and rice soup to start. Both were tasty! Then burgers with bacon added and the garlic fries. Best burger I’ve had around cbus in awhile. Definitely recommend.

Seriously meh food and drink with a seriously WTF price tag. Ordered: One cocktail One snack size fried pickle chips KH5 burger with fries Scallops with risotto Price before tip: $ 59.00!!! Cocktail: Strong, but in a very small glass with a very large ice cube. FOR $ 12.00!!! Pickles: Meh. Fine, kind of soggy, nothing special. Burger: Highlight of the meal, still not worth $ 15.00. Scallops with risotto: No. Gummy rice is not risotto. One large scallop cut into 4 pieces is not a $ 24.00 portion. Scallops should not have the texture of chicken breast. The chive oil was nice. Honestly, I probably would have rolled with a middle of the road 3 stars for just average bar food until the check arrived. Because of the price of the food and drink I would not visit again.

After a year of driving by this place a few times a week and visiting neighboring restaurants I finally decided to give Kraft House a try. Here’s a briefing on what I learned: Meat and cheese board– smoked peanut brittle, 2 cheeses, two meats, grapes, and other delicious eats… don’t pass it up! The board is full of flavor, they excel at the pairings, and what’s not to love about peanut brittle on a cheeseboard? Poutine– are you kidding me?!? These gravy topped(covered) fries with cheese and BRAISEDSHORTRIB are worth the visit themselves. Best poutine I’ve had, and the side of aioli just adds to the fabulous flavor. Pickle chips– may not sound like it’s worth ordering but you’ll be happy if you try these battered pickles(side of ranch). They’d be a nice addition to any sandwich or a starter. Smores crème brûlée– I wasn’t too thrilled with the amount of flavor and I realized that the crisp top of crème brûlée is my favorite part after I ordered this(this one didn’t have crisp top, but marshmallow instead). The focus of this dessert was the marshmallow and custard with little emphasis on chocolate and graham cracker… it all comes down to preference. A nice beer selection, I had a «Spring re-mule» which is very similar to a Moscow mule but with strawberry added… I LOVED it, that’s why I had two. The service was fantastic, the ambiance was sort of laid back, patio seating is a nice perk. Thank you Kraft House for the great date night!

Food is meh. Prices are stupid high for what you get. Portions leave me hungry. Much better option next door at Prohibition or Local Roots. I will never go back here.

Tremendous food with excellent drinks. Their brunch is great-I love the breakfast club! It’s a small restaurant, so if you come at a busy time, you will likely have to wait a while to be seated.

Good food but WOW — is this place EXPENSIVE! Today was the 2nd time I’ve been to Kraft House No. 5, so obviously I like the food. The prices, however, leave A LOT to be desired. My family(4 adults, 1 child) and I went there for brunch this morning and we were shocked when we received the check. It was $ 71, and none of us had alcohol, salads, or appetizers. My parents both ordered eggs, bacon, and toast, nothing special at all. My son had pancakes, with a tiny dish of fruit and bacon(this was considered one dish), so again, nothing at all special. My husband and I both ordered the chicken and waffles, which we knew was $ 16 each. This means the simple, no frills items my parents and son ordered were almost $ 40… To charge $ 40 for 2 orders of eggs, 2 orders of bacon, toast, a small order of pancakes, and a miniature bowl of mostly apple and grapes is CRAZY! After tip, which was 20%, we dropped $ 83! Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind dropping a pretty penny for a good meal, but for what we had at Kraft House No. 5, that should have included a few drinks and an appetizer — at least. I doubt very seriously we will be back.

This is one of the best restaurants in the north Columbus area and for sure the best between Dublin & Powell. We started with cocktails, I had had out of fashion which was fantastic! We shared the sprouts and fried chicken sandwich… both great the sandwich unbelievable! All washed down by a cbc creeper! Keep up the good work guys!

Loved it! It’s small inside but they take reservations which is a huge plus! Get the mussels and fries. They are decadent and AMAZING! The kale quinoa salad is also delicious. It was Wine Wednesday when we went tonight. The Spanish red wine flight was a nice little tasting trio. Tapas specials were plantain based and we’re both uniquely tasty. We will be back again for sure!

We have been to KH2 times so far and both experiences have been good. The bar has a good selection of beers and cocktails. The menu is overall pretty tasty and has a variety of small plates to sandwiches and pricier entrees. The first time there I went with the buttermilk chicken sandwich and fried. It was pretty good worth the biggest problem being the chicken with the tomato with some aioli, etc all got s little soggy together after awhile and the chicken lost its crispness. My wife went with the pork chop that night and was a big fan. Our second time back we split the Caesar to start which was good. I had the macaroni and cheese and smoked wings for my entrée. The mac was so good, creamy cheese and everything you want Ina gourmet mac. The wings were ok but I wish they had been crispier. My wife tried the chicken sandwich I had the first time and it looked better. Our guests had the scallops and shrimp and grits and everyone enjoyed their dishes. Glad to see our Powell neighborhood has some classy restaurants right around the corner.

Went here after work for their tap takeover. Homestead beers were on tap and I had to try some. I sat at the bar and had a bunch of beer that was very tasty! The guys sitting next to me had garlic fries that smelled and looked wonderful and a side of Brussels sprouts with bacon and cheese that look phenomenal! I will definitely be back to taste their food sometime! This place is small and fills fast so get here early!

I went on a brunch date here a few weeks ago. We walked in when it wasn’t even packed and no one greeted us. A minute or two later my date spotted a sign propped up by a growler jug. The sign said seat yourselves, so we took a table. We didn’t have menus, but we just assumed that someone would be with us shortly. This was not the case. A family came in a few minutes later and the hostess came from the back to seat them with menus nearly right away. Since our table was awkwardly right next to the hostess stand where she now was standing, my date apologized for seating ourselves because we saw the sign. She said it was fine and then walked away to the back again. We still had no menus. We had to wait again for the hostess to come back to the front and ignore us before I walked over and asked for menus. Finally! After we got menus, a waiter came by to get our orders. We were going to grab beers later in the day at another place, so we ordered the mocktail. It was described to us as a virgin Paloma, but was a lot less grapefruit and a lot more lime — delicious nonetheless. I also ordered the regular Belgian waffle since I had already tried their Chicken and Waffles preciously and my date ordered the KH5 frittata. Our server mixed up our orders and gave my date my waffle and I got his frittata, but we didn’t have the heart to tell him. We just switched plates when he walked away, but he came by and made a comment later. He also put my regular Belgian waffle order in as the Chicken and Waffles, but boy am I glad! The really saving grace of this place is the food. My chicken and waffles was really an order mixup blessing in disguise. It was not the same as my previous order of Chicken and Waffles. The chicken was crispy, juicy, and perfectly cooked. I also liked how it was boneless other than one bone that was easy to cut around. There was rosemary on the plate, but the overpowering rosemary maple syrup was no more. My only complaint was that the waffle got soggy quite quickly in the middle from the syrup and heat of the chicken. Perhaps having syrup on the side and pouring it over yourself might help that. My date’s frittata was delicious too. It wasn’t a very thick fluffy egg frittata and was very thin, but it was very flavorful and moist. It also came with a salad. Despite the awful service we received, my date and I are already excited to go back to try out their lunch and dinner menus. Hopefully next time we’ll get treated better by the wait staff.

My wife & I just relocated to the area from Baltimore, MD and we’ve found two trips to KH5 very enjoyable. It’s already a place we feel confident walking into any time and knowing we’ll get a nice meal in a very pleasant place with exceptionally nice servers. The first was just after Christmas around 2 pm and overdue on lunch. We had a small sampling of some smaller plates(given we had a family dinner that night): tuna tacos, chicken wings, b-sprouts. All were cooked/prepared appropriately and a nice balance of flavors/textures/temperatures. We ordered a couple of cocktails, then followed with a draft. Other than the cocktails takinga bit too long to prepare(maybe too bar-chef-y than they needed to be) but good overall flavor with enough alcohol but not overpowering. Good value for the whole meal. The second visit was on a Sunday evening for dinner. We ordered a couple of cocktails(came out much faster than the first trip) which were nicely balanced and flavorful. Instead of apps or starters we ordered the mussles/fries to split and the Sunday chicken dinner to split as well. This was not a low-cal meal by any stretch, and despite both being heavy on fats(blue cheese and fries w/the mussles and of course… fried chicken with Old Bay mac & cheese(Baltimore in the house!) and spicy green beens) neither were greasy nor left you with hint of a coating in the mouth that you can get from a dish prepared with old/low quality frying oil. A pairing of a couple of glasses of Prosecco were the right match to cut through the fat/salt/heat of the dishes. I wouldn’t have minded a few more green beans on the plate but they were indeed cooked perfectly and the chiles gave a nice heat. Both times we had very pleasant servers that were attentive, contributed to our selections, and specifically thanked us for coming in. Two visits in, they’ve shown me to have a knack for building a menu, treating customers well, and a solid kitchen.

At the same price level of a Cameron Mitchell restaurant, I expect good food. The entrees I sampled were just mediocre. The pork was $ 26, my hamburger was $ 15. I would have rather gone to Cap City or 101 Beer Kitchen right up the street that has way better food for less of hit to my wallet!

Sit at the bar… Service is always great, bartenders are friendly and make killer cocktails.(best manhattans in Columbus). We were disappointed to find out their chef that opened the restaurant is no longer there, but that didn’t last long… The food is even better than before!

Limited over priced menue. Ordered broiled chicken for my salad, the chicken was boiled not broiled .it was disgusting. Poor service. Was not too crowded when we went but our server was slammed. Took 30 minutes to get our drinks then another 15 for apps. Wouldn’t recommend

scallops more like scallOOPS! I ate them too fast since they were so good! just kidding, I didn’t eat them too fast-I listened to mindfulness meditation on my iPhone6+ at the bar during the game so I could savor every maple glazed bite. unfortunately the friendly and beautiful staff would often bother me with inane questions like«can I get you another glass of water?» or «do you need me to wipe your face for you?» both of which are obviously yes. the seared ham on the scallops was so thin and juicy that it was almost sensual, though not sensual enough as I go to sleep beside my wife typing this review rather than tending to her more carnal desires. oh well, she seems to be happy anyway since she spent all dinner talking about her boss Stu and their business trip to Nassau. so id recommend this place for food, ambience, date night, and most importantly-the water! #aguahead

I really wanted to love this place because it’s so close to home and super cute location but I have given it a try 2 times now and was not impressed either time. The first time I went was just not a good experience all around. Wait was long and all 4 dishes that my table ordered were not up to standard. A tomato soup should not just be red oil water, a kale salad should not look like it has been fried to the point where it disintegrates into a powder, a burger should not be burnt, chicken undercooked and a meal sent back to the table cold if the cook forgot something on your grilled cheese sandwich. Second time, staff was not friendly almost seemed annoyed that a another party of 4 walked in. Two of us ordered the fish sticks off the special menu and we couldn’t believe that the dish even made it on the menu. The flavors were not bad but who wants mushy fish sticks? You think fish sticks, you think crispy and flaky pieces of fish. The topper was when my friend asked for some ketchup halfway through the meal and our server schooled him on the sauce that was already given to him. As if he hadn’t noticed or already tried that sauce but wanted ketchup is that wrong? When I go out on the weekend, I want to enjoy my time and food, especially when I am spending the money. The fries are good but you really can’t mess those up which is why I give 1 star there and my other star goes to the look of the place because I like the décor.

We went on Saturday with our boys. Three of us had great meals and one was bad. My husband loved the clam bake. The broth for that was tasty too. One son loved the mussels and fries and I enjoyed the shrimp and grits. The shrimp were huge. The shank appy was good too. The porkette sandwich was the only disappointment. It was sooo greasy. The bottom bun was saturated and when my son picked up the sandwich a steady stream of grease came out. He was starving so he did not ask for anything different. Even though we enjoyed our food it will be a long time before I go back because it is sooo loud. When we first got there it was tolerable but as the place filled up it became uncomfortable. You have a nicely designed/decorated place but 90% of your place is a hard surface. The sound just bounces everywhere. It needs those sound deading ideas.

Came here for dinner tonight and it was pretty good. We sat outside, they have a few small tables out there. Good happy hour options until 6 pm. I ordered the scallops, which were amazing! They came with Brussels and had a slightly sweet taste. My only concern was that one of the scallops was undercooked. I tried my friend’s Mac and cheese, and I was not a fan unfortunately… It was covered in bread crumbs(like wayyy too much) so I couldn’t taste much of the actual Mac n cheese. I would still recommend coming here for the drinks and environment though.

I really do not understand the negative reviews for Kraft House. I have been there multiple times and always enjoy it. The food is really good and has good size portions. I love craft beer and they always have a huge list to pick from. All in all this place does not disappoint. People that are complaining just want to be negative.

I wish I really could understand the negative reviews of this restaurant — maybe people had expectations? We stumbled here after a float session at True Rest Spa and had an amazing dinner! There is public parking near by if you can’t find street parking. The hostess greeted us with a smile and seated us right away and our waitress came right out to take our drink order. The menu looks amazing — we opted for the smoked lobster rolls, cast iron corn, and Mac and cheese. Epic Mac and cheese. Buy it and enjoy every drop of it!!! The corn was so good… I would have never thought to char corn, top it with jalapeño butter, smoked paprika, and Parmesan? Goodness the corn is pure heaven. The smoked lobster rolls — yes you get 2… are quite amazing! My only complaint… too much bread and not enough filing but that’s always my complaint with lobster rolls! Since we loaded up on appetizers we opted for sandwiches for our entrée — turkey for me and fried chicken for the Mr. Both wonderful options. The garlic fries were so good. We can’t wait to go back and explore the entrees! This restaurant is definitely one of their places that inspires me in my own cooking at home!

Five stars for service, décor, location, and drinks. Three stars for food. Ideally situated on a picturesque intersection in downtown Powell KH5 is ideal for outdoor dining and people watching. The space feels airy and modern, even when packed(as it was on the Sunday I went there for brunch). The server was extremely accommodating about half of my party showing up considerably late, and was attentive but not pushy. The drinks are great, if not a little consistent. The daiquiri and bloody mary are excellent, as is the Sunday spritz, although the latter tasted different from the first round to the next(more bitters, less aperol, and vice versa). Beer list is sizable. However, the reason I trekked so far north of the city was for what I’d heard about the food, which sadly did not live up to expectations. Although the menu had plenty of yummy sounding offerings in line with the current popularity of down home style comfort food, the flavor just wasn’t there. Portions are huge, but when the food is so so, what’s the difference? My omelet was overcooked and rubbery, the sauce for the hot brown was tepidly bland, and the biscuits and gravy was all biscuit. But maybe it was a one off. After all, the place was hopping from start to finish, with people having to wait for tables to open up. In any case, drinks and service notwithstanding, it’s not really worth a return trip, especially since that’s 20 minutes each way for me.

Enjoyed a great dinner at Kraft House! Wonderful beer selection to start the night. Our service was great and the food did not disappoint! I had the cheese and toast which I would highly recommend! The bread was amazing and toasted to perfection. The Gouda was a great combo with the leeks and honey drizzle. So glad I went with the fries as a side(the chips were good but the fries were great)! I have been here a few times and always enjoy the atmosphere, beer and food. The menu has lots of variety and the beer selection is unique. Great place to dine in Powell!

Had high hopes for this place however we walked out disappointed and won’t be going back. The décor and set up is nice! They did a great job with the atmosphere and feel of the place. The food was a big let down. We had the house salad and the Waikiki burger. The burger was ordered medium well and came out bloody. We sent it back and they did apologize but that’s all. The salad had chewy dry turkey and not much flavor. It feels like they are trying too hard with the menu to be different and unique but forgot about flavor and taste. I was shocked we sat so long for the burger to be remade and it was still on the bill. Not even a little compensation for the inconvenience. $ 60 later and two unsatisfied appetites. Hope you can turn it around there, great concept-very poor execution.

I wanted to love this place. I was hoping for another spot in the rotation for my Powell/Dublin outings when I don’t feel like going downtown. Unfortunately, I was let down. I feel artisanal has leaked into everything in life, and this is the result. My BLT was a let down. The grilled cheese was a let down. The fries were good. The service was good. The beer selection was good. But nothing wowed me. Nothing said«come back and try this! You want to try this!» Everything just screams«something you would like, with a few twists to make you not like it!» And in the artisanal world, when things can change often so you know«I should come back and get to try new flavors!» that’s not the case here. It’s «come back when the menu changes next season, and give it another shot.» It’s too bad. I miss Easy Street. It may have been a big menu, but they always had something you knew you’d enjoy.

Really nice place. Charming old space in downtown Powell. Extremely friendly and helpful service. The food was fantastic here. For the most part, it’s bar food, but you can’t make better bar food than this. My wife and I had a burger and grilled cheese and we’re both very impressed. The burger was phenomenal. First, some of the best bread I’ve had with a burger, delicious and perfectly toasted. Second, they actually cooked the meat to the right temperature. Usually places way over cook burgers, even if you ask for medium or medium rare. Here, they got it just right, still nice and pink and juicy in the center. The tenderness of the meat and the crunch of the toasted bun together were a fantastic combination. A side of garlic fries finished it off nicely. This wasn’t some cheap garlic powder. This was loads of real crushed garlic that wasn’t overwhelming with each bite, but at the end, you have a pleasant garlic taste left in your mouth. Good beer list. Ohio breweries are well represented, with some Jackie O’s and Actual beers that aren’t rare, but aren’t the same old beers you find everywhere else. I live well within 270, but I’m still quite impressed with the increasing number of great options out in the burbs. This ranks right up there with101 Beer Kitchen as a can’t-miss place for beer and food enthusiasts. Totally worth the drive to Powell for a great meal.
