Love the new patio here and great deals on happy hour! Crazy how this Unilocal will not take my review because I’m not texting enough.

Went there on a pretty slow night sat right away. Ordered drinks and waiting a very long time while the bartender stopped every time some one new came in. End the end got a drink with lipstick on the cup. My new drink came back in a min.(Making me think they just poorer it in a new glass). We got the pretzel appetizer which was pretty good. My girlfriend got the Mac and cheese also good. My pull pork sandwich was still cold. Like leftovers that haven’t been microwaved enough cold. Very disappointing. Overall service was very slow and our waiter tended to forget about us. Probably won’t be back

Last night my husband and I and another couple decided to go to dinner somewhere north of downtown and we had some good reviews of this restaurant so we decided to try this one out. Our friends arrived @ 6:40 and we had to wait about a half hour. really not a big deal especially being a Saturday night. They have a great selection of craft beers to choose from along with a full service bar. I chose the trendy Moscow Mule which was really good. service was decent, not your typical service progression but that may be because we ate in the bar area upstairs. we all shared the roasted shrimp and cheddar Bisquit which was amazing! I am a burger gal! always in search of the best burger so I ordered the Capone burger medium rare. big fail.my burger was well done. major bummer! I did not want to send it back for another because by the time we saw our server my husband and guests were done with their dinner. My husband had the fried chicken with macaroni and cheese. decent dish and it was perfect for a rainy chilly night. our friends had a salads that they seem to enjoy very much. We will definitely be back this summer! P. s. they have a decent size patio

Very cool concept bar in Powell. Main floor had great atmosphere and amazing staff. We had to wait about 25 min for a table upstairs(Saturday night). Cocktail menu features prohibition-era drinks with a modern twist. Very complete bourbon and scotch list. Upstairs was a different place with TV screens covering 3 of four walls and it felt like a sports bar(Disappointed). We ordered two of the recommend apps: meatloaf meatballs and some sort of pulled pork on a «grit cake.» Food service was incredibly slow and once it arrive it lukewarm. Meatballs were dry. For drinks with friends = Good times! 4 stars. For Food = Meh. 3 stars

This is a comfortable bar/lounge atmosphere. They have a large selection of beer, the cocktails are perfect, an ideal location next to other bars and lounges in downtown Powell, and the service is phenomenal. As soon as we entered we were greeted by one of the servers and we chose to sit on an antique lounge chair facing the window(Best seat in the house). I’m Excited to visit Prohibition again, next time for dinner as this time it was all about the drinks.

I typically don’t prefer to venture into Powell — even though it s a cute area with some great shops and restaurants, but the traffic is awful! However, We recently found out that they have the best happy hour in town! We decided to head over on our day off(Friday) and check out the deals. So the happy hour is just one hour with EVERYTHING on the menu half off. This means all food and drinks half off! Our group tried several of the house cocktails and some appetizers which were all excellent! For dinner I ordered the salmon which was not only a great deal but cooked perfectly. This place(I love Local Roots too!) is worth the drive for the great happy hour!

Good food… recommend Fried Chicken Mac-n-Cheese. The chicken is marinated in sweet tea and buttermilk served over Mac-n-Cheese with a bit of spicy kick to it. Wide beer and bourbon selection. Warning… salads are entrees not intros!

One of the best nights outs I have had in such a long time was had here last night! The staff and owner Elton were among the nicest most accommodating of any restaurant I have been to. They really went above and beyond! The drinks were OUTOFTHISWORLD good! Best Ginger Mules I’ve ever had, the Cynar was delicious, and I believe it was the Old Fashioned Elixir… to die for! If you like coffee, you MUST try that one! The food was delicious, my friend and I had the salmon and had to get a to-box as the portion was wonderfully large. Another friend got the house special Steak and it was DELICIOUS! Over all such a great place! We will be back!!!

I would like to check this place out but doubt I ever will. They don’t take reservations and when we showed up at 8 last night(Saturday, 2⁄20) we were told it would be a 2 hour wait for a table for four. We walked down the street to Kraft House, were told it would be an hour and were seated in about 30 mins. Prohibition, I strongly suggest you take reservations.

We came just for drinks. The food we saw at other tables did look pretty good. Our drinks were ok. The cherry syrup they use has a very cough-syrup flavor, so I would advise against any drinks that contain that. My biggest complaint was the lack of cocktail options on the menu. With a name like«Prohibition,» I came in with high cocktail expectations, so seeing only 5 was a let down. Of course you can order off the menu, but what’s the fun in that? They have a huge whiskey selection, but our waiter was not at all helpful in navigating it. The beer selection is pretty good.

Great drinks, staff and new chef. One of the best pork chops I have had. Powell has another gem in downtown. Cheers!

Great spot! Ended up here with another couple after we were turned away by the restaurant next door. Couldn’t be more pleased by the unexpected change in venue. Great beer selection and fantastic food! Loved the pretzels and shrimp and cheddar biscuit appetizers. The Mac and cheese is definitely worth a try as well. Definitely looking forward to a repeat trip!

This was our first visit to Prohibition and we were impressed!!! My husband and I went here durning happy hour(weekdays 4:30 — 5:30) it is half off of everything on the menu… yep I said everything! They had a variety of craft beers on tap and a wide range of signature cocktails and wine to choose from. Service was great, we sat upstairs at the bar. Casual atmosphere. Overall this is a great local establishment. We were lucky enough to chat with the owner a bit as he was working behind the bar and was super personable!

Powell might as well be a distant, faraway land for me. I never venture out here, but am quite glad that I stumbled upon this gem. The friends and I had embarked upon an ambitious five-mile hike at the close by Highbanks Metro Park. After said hike, we were very thirsty and our handy dandy Unilocal app directed us to Prohibition. We partook of some of the excellent cocktails(La Paloma, Kentucky Rain, and a Moscow Mule). They were painstakingly made and were truly«handcrafted». I would come back for them alone. We also split some loaded fries and boy, they were also delicious(albeit very heavy – definitely a shareable). I’m very happy that Powell is sporting such decent restaurants which makes me venture out here more and more.

Wow! Can I give them 4.5 stars? Well I will. I have no idea why it took us so long to get to this place, but I am mad that I have missed out on so much time! First of all I love the building. The décor really fits the name with two full bars, whisky barrel lights and monster photos. I love anything thrown towards the monster décor. The drinks while pricey are well worth it. We tried the mule with mezcal as well as one with vodka, both are terrific. Also had what was like a margarita with some spice and it was terrific. Note that this drink wasn’t really spicy as advertised but it was tasty. The food! OMG the food was so good. Since this was our first time we decided to go with a few appetizers. We thought there would be a good bet because they would probably be small. They were not small! The size of the appetizers were much bigger then expected. First we tried the shrimp and biscuits — very good! The shrimp was cooked really well and the biscuits were amazing. I would get this dish again in a heart beat. Polenta with pulled pork — this was a huge portion of pork. The meat was really tasty with not much sauce which I like. The polenta was good, but I’m not in love with polenta. There were pickled veggies on top which were delicious. I hate celery and this dish made me enjoy celery! Pretzels — well they were good pretzels but not needed with all the other food we had. If you like a nice warm pretzel go for it. All in all we have found a new favorite place. We will be back many times I am sure.

I’ve tried to go to this restaurant multiple times. I have never eaten there. It’s never been open. The hours displayed by Unilocal don’t seem to be correct. I give up. Hope you have better luck.

Love trying new places to eat and this restaurant didn’t disappoint! We went on a Friday night so there was a bit of a wait. We ordered drinks and the pretzel appetizer at the bar while we waited for a table. The bartender was really nice, helpful and attentive. They have a lot of unique cocktails on the menu that I’m going to have to go back and try. It was beer kind of night for me! The Bavarian pretzel appetizer was really good because it came with a delicious sriracha cheddar dip! We finally got seated upstairs. We ordered the spiced turkey meatball with sweet corn cream appetizer and had mixed reviews from our table. Overall, the meatball tasted a little bland to me. Or maybe it was just very healthy tasting because they were turkey meatballs. I never order mac and cheese as an entrée, but it sounded too good to pass up. It was pretty tasty and it came with a good size portion of pork. I also tried my husband’s burger, which was good as well. He ordered it medium rare knowing they would probably cook it medium and he was right! One thing we noticed was that the two owners of the restaurant were working and serving food that night. It was kind of cool to see that! :) I’ll be back to try their other food and cocktails!

This was an interesting find out in Suburbia – though I guess the main strip through downtown Powell shouldn’t be considered part of the suburban wastelands as it has a very old school small town feel to it. Enough semantics. The lounge/bar is split between two floors. The ground floor is very quiet and laid back with a bar, seats and a few tables. We had come for an evening out to celebrate a friends’ birthday and were a little surprised to see it so quiet. One of the bartenders noticed us standing in the middle of the space looking around and asked us if we were meeting anyone and mentioned that we should probably check upstairs. Sure enough, that’s where everyone was. The upper level has a different feel, almost like a sports bar, with many flat sceen TV’s mounted on the walls, bistro height large tables and a large bar at one end of the room. It is also quite loud on the upper floor. The décor on both floors is very cool, sort of an industrial vibe. Don’t miss the ceiling lights mounted inside of whiskey and beer barrels. The menu has a hipster twist on usual bar faire. Lots of hipster touches – local this, craft that. Fried eggs on everything! Our table split several apps. Everything was very good, but don’t miss the pretzel bread, good stuff. There is an impressive beer and cocktail selection. I had the Mobster Manhattan with bacon infused bourbon. An interesting twist on one of my favorites, but I think I like my Manhattans without any gimmicks. My wife had a Temperance Punch. She was a bit turned off by the pomegranate shavings, but I thought it tasted great – and ended up finishing her drink for her. I know, I’m a gentleman.
