Came here on a whim because I like meddling with new stuff to cook with. The selection here was pretty good, and the staff was great to help with hints/tips/pointers and how to cook with the spices there. The prices seemed a touch steep, but on the other hand, given the expertise and the quality of the items I bought here, I don’t think it’s anywhere near outrageous. If you like to cook or want to mixup your meal routines, spice it up with some stuff from this shop.

Incredibly helpful and knowledgeable staff. Wide variety and, if they don’t have what you’re looking for, they’ll happily order it. I just happened to be in the area so stopped in… and found a jar of Ethiopian berebere spices! This is a staple in most Ethiopian cooking. It’s nearly impossible to find in non-ethnic stores and making it is very time-consuming. Finding someplace that carries it will save me so much time! Also, they will refill empty spice jars or package your spices in zip lock bags so you can refill them at home. Reduce, reuse recycle!

Just walking into this shop is an experience in awakening of senses. Naturally, first is the aroma of all of the lovely spices, swirling and dancing through the air. You look around, at a quaint little old world shop — a vision that would be completely at home in some yummy, cozy little, London«must see» travel brochure. The staff was pleasant and knowledgeable — I would even call them passionate about the spices, which is contagious. A woman approached me to ask if I needed assistance, to which I of course said no. She took note of the cocoas that I’d been eyeing, and she told wonderful little anecdotes about the origins of just a sampling of the wide variety. Her obvious excitement gave me that«just walked into the book store in The Neverending Story» feeling in my tummy. Mind you, the spices themselves are excellent. They’re also packaged beautifully — and they make a great gift for the foodie in your life. Even if you’re just a little curious, I encourage you to stop in.

The Princeton outpost of this Colorado-based chain boasts a dizzying array of spices from around the world. If you’re looking for an uncommon or unusual spice, it’s probably one of the best places to hunt. Ditto for everyday spices too. Customer service is superb! The guy staffing the store was friendly, warm, welcoming, patient, and impressively knowledgeable as he helped me decide among the different choices. Spices are fresh and, unlike grocery store offerings, can be purchased in bulk or in smaller, relatively customized amounts at competitive prices. Come, explore, experiment, and kick your cooking into a whole new gear! Despite being in downtown Princeton, parking is a breeze. In addition to high-turnover street parking immediately in front of the store, you can take advantage of the parking garage directly across the street. Well worth a visit!

Great spice store — lots of unusual blends and very high quality/fresh! Their staff is exceptionally helpful and friendly, and they really know the inventory and have on-point recommendations. You are allowed to not only smell but also taste everything. A must-visit when you are in Princeton downtown!

Wow what a fun place. The staff is exceptional, both knowledgable and friendly. We tried a bunch of the spices and walked out with some. We later brought friends over to check it out and they loved it even more! Not cheap by any means but not terribly expensive either as long as you keep your indulgences in check.

I’ve been here a few times and it is amazing. At the supermarket you may be able to find some good/decent spices but the selection isn’t that great and if you want good spices and not spice flavored sawdust you are going to have to pay a premium. Not here. Here there is an amazing variety of spices and spice mixes to choose from. They have just about anything you would need or want. Several different types of garlic powder, about 8 types of cinnamon and even ghost chili peppers seasoning if you are feeling a little crazy. One of my favorite things there is the dried sweet corn. I guess you can use it in a chowder but I just eat it as a snack because it is that good. The absolute best thing about this place is the prices, like I said, you might be able to find some good spices at the supermarket but they won’t be cheap. For example, a good vanilla extract will cost you a premium for a small bottle but here it will only run you about 6 or 7 dollars. Well worth the trip and I will be back

This is a great spice store. They have a lot of things you can’t find in Penzeys. But they don’t have everything. Most spices are conventionally grown, but there are some organic ones available too. But the things that keep Savory Spice Shop from earning that coveted fifth star are really more annoyances than anything else. I feel a little petty about these grievances, but they are totally maddening. 1) Despite previous claims, you can’t buy any amount you want. There are minimums. I was told this has something to do with how the cash register is set up. But for a store that specializes in doling out quantities of bulk spices to order, I see no reason why I can’t get a fraction of an ounce if that’s all I really need. 2) I love that they will refill your jars for you. It’s brilliant. Refilling my own spice jars is a total pain in the ass. But they will only refill jars that carry the Savory Spice Shop label. I brought in an empty jar of one of my Penzys spices, and they refused to fill it up. Yes, I got a very polite and relatively reasonable explanation as to why, but that doesn’t make it any less crazy making. Has any of this stopped me from shopping here? No way. Besides the local Indian markets, this is the only place I’ve bought spices this past year. I love the place. I enjoy its feel. And the selection never ceases to be inspiring. It’s a hair’s breadth from being a brilliant spice store, but for now it will have to settle for being the best in town.

This place has completely transformed my cooking! I am in here constantly, picking up just a bit of this and another jar of that. They have a fantastic selection, the spices are extremely high in quality, and the staff is really nice and very helpful. It’s clear that everyone working there is really excited about the merchandise, which makes sense, since the merchandise is great. :)

I love this place! You can get almost anything here and in any amount you want to buy. The owner and staff are very friendly and knowledgable. I can’t have gluten so I buy all of my spices here. Only two things in the shop contain gluten and all staff members know which ones to avoid. This is a huge bonus and one of the reasons that I keep coming back.

I freggen love this place. So many great spices. Most places have the usual but this place has some really great finds. They have a ton of rubs for chicken, steak and seafood.

I buy all of my spices at Savory. The prices are competitive with the spices at the grocery store and there is always a wider variety of choices that you get to taste. The staff is amazing and always willing to talk about how to use a spice or what they think/recommend. If you are into cooking or baking or eating snacks I’m sure you won’t regret walking in. Use the parking garage across the street to park, it is almost always open unless it is a very busy day and parking is free if you take less than a half hour.

How does this place not have any reviews??? This place is awesome! The place was spotless and the staff very friendly! They had a spice shop like this in New Orleans and I loved it! You walk in and the place is very organized! You can taste pretty much everything here too! I knocked off 1 star because they have too many of the same seasonings(i.e curries and such) knock out ½ the curries and such and add more grill seasonings and meat rubs! Regaurdless I would come back here in a heartbeat!
