This is my first ever Unilocal review, so trust me when I say that Leo is the best bartender I’ve had in my 2 years in NY — and better than any bartender I’ve had in LA. He took Erv’s from a cool local spot, to a place I can’t wait to visit again — and I’ll be sure to bring my friends!

Numerous bartenders told me I had to try this hole in the wall. I was not impressed when I walked in, but when I took a look at the cocktail menu, I was blown away. It was the most indecisive night I have had in NY because every drink looked amazing. These dudes know what they are doing. If you like amazing cocktails, go here now. World class. I prefer the menu over Dead Rabbit, PDT, and Death and Company.

Wow, a little gem is what this place is. The drunk menu is extensive and amazing. The staff is super friendly. Leo the bartender makes the best cocktails. Homemade tamales(not sure if they’re on the menu) Leo’s mom makes them. Place is small and gets crowded. Real fun mom and pop spot. Must visit.

I found this bar/caffe while out exploring a different part of Brooklyn than my normal ‘hood. It’s a very small café but cute and cozy. They offer a good amount of beer on draft and have some interesting cocktails. I used the Unilocal«check-in» feature and was treated to a free shot and pickle back. It’s a little confusing because their pickle backs are not pickle backs but their own house made concoctions. I chose the Rye with a curry carrot and raisin Manechevitz back. It was really interesting and I think sets this bar separate from other small bars.

I love a good cocktail, so I had to try this place. So far everything I had was great. I will come back and try some more cocktails. The bartender was really nice and takes pride in his work. Can’t wait for them to expand! Minus 1 star because the space is so tight.

The bartenders are good and menu items are very well curated. I find it a pretty noisy atmosphere for the small space, so it’s not the most ideal place to hold events or to do work. Awesome croissants, though! If you happen to be in the neighborhood, I recommend their margaritas and Irish coffee.

One of the best places in the neighborhood to drink very good cocktails! People are very friendly! Nice atmosphere! A must!

Update: The best cappuccino around and the friendliest staff, day or night. I still think it’s better as a coffee shop than bar because of its size. They often have funny coffee/liquor specials for $ 5 – 6 — follow their Instagram.

Let me tell you about a little hidden place called Erv’s. This place is hidden in a dead end road near Flatbush, its a perfect place to hide my favorite coffee place from a noisy street and busy people. It’s a small place where the bar takes most of the space, there’s some seating in the back but my favorite the window seat, where I spend my time on my iPad reading GQ and Esquire and sipping on a great cup of latte. Let me tell you a little more about their latte. Before finding this place I had to get latte from other cafés in the area and they were not great, and at some point I even stopped ordering lattes. Until I found this place and got their latte, it was perfectly balanced and you could taste the quality in every sip. Something I was longing for since I moved in the neighborhood. They also serve alcohol, that help me convincing my friends to come by the place at night and I could have my cup of coffee at anytime of the day. So please if you decided to come by the place, be friendly and nice like the great people who works there and the good crowd that visit the café.

If you are in the area and need a pit stop for some coffee or a cocktail, definitely check out Erv’s. We were trying to warm up a bit post ice skating in Prospect Park and found this little gem. It’s a very cozy hipster spot once you step inside so don’t get scared off when you turn into Beekman street, seeing there’s basically nothing else around. What was even better was that it happened to be happy hour on a Saturday for a few of their cocktails including old fashioned drinks. Such a win! If you check into Unilocal, you also get a free shot! Why not!

My boyfriend lives in the neighborhood and this is our go-to bar when we want to get out of the house or after we take the pups to night park. When the weather is nice, you can sit outside with your furry friends and enjoy some libations with Rover. The inside of the bar(which is more of a coffee shop that boozes it up at night) is small, but a diverse and friendly local crew cozies up to enjoy some night caps together. The mixed drinks are very good and there are choices like Modelo if you do not want to break the bank. The have grown up pickle backs — a shot with an assortment of tasty chasers. Last I saw, you can check in on Unilocal and try one on the house.

This feels like a coffee shop to me, but it’s a bar. Had a couple sazeracs. Although they were strong, they tasted a little lacking in the licorice department(maybe no absinthe here?). Nice temperature, though. Cool staff and overall friendly vibe for a neighborhood spot. Also got a shot of whiskey with a curry-raisin-carrot back — intense but enjoyable.

Manhattans, daiquiri, and an old fashioned. All delicious. Eva the bartender was terrific and friendly. Apparently there are occasional food pop-ups too. Will be going back — soon.

Today is a day for reviews and Aza liked erv. I think i may have a little crush. History of beekman pl uhh scary being a lifeling resident. I lived across the street from what is now Ervs in my baby years. Past 6 months or so. I saw the sun and it opened up my eye. However, i still kept walking by Ervs that is until today. I was called by the universe to venture the streets of bk solo and i ended up at the greenery and then decided to stay at ervs. This stay lasted over an hour as i basked in the essence of what i will deem the new beekman pl. This cute and unique bar strung with christmas lights in the middle of a dead end block. The drink menu was decorated with all these cool curated cocktails at decebt prices that you really dont know which one to try first. I gave the crawdaddy a try and im in heaven. Downside no food only tamales which tasted and what makes this place unique lol is that in addition to being a bar it is also a coffee spot lol. Alex C. is the best. I will definitly be back to try awesome cocktails cause they look awesome sauce

Rob the bartender peer-pressured me into writing a review for this place, but you know what? Points for transparency! I live a block away and I hadn’t been here until last night. I’ve definitely been missing out! This place is incredibly small and would be hard to see without the giant neon«Erv’s» sign in the window, but despite the fact that fitting more than 15 people in this place would be considered a fire hazard, I have to say it’s absolutely fantastic. The drinks are delicious, the soundtrack of 90s hip hop equally so, and Rob is far and away the coolest bartender I have ever met! The cocktails are priced pretty average and if you check in on Unilocal, you get a well shot and a pickle back companion. I got whiskey w/Manischewitz and it definitely packed a punch! If you live in the neighborhood, make it a point to get to Erv’s, and even if you don’t, go out of your way to go there! They’re absolutely worthy of your patronage, I promise.

Erv is a little shy. He hangs back, away from the main drag where all the big players of Prospect Lefferts Garden are. It’s easy to overlook him, to walk right past him. But when you finally do notice Erv, you say to yourself, «He seems cool.» So you hang out with him, get to know him a little better. He opens up and shows you what he’s like. Then you say, «Erv *is* cool.» Erv’s on Beekman is a small narrow coffee bar by day and cocktail bar by night. It’s the type of space that you expect in the W. Village. All that’s missing is exposed brick walls and an antiqued mirror. It’s small and cozy. Go in the early evening. There are a few patrons, enough to keep it from feeling desolate, but there’s still enough space for you to have a choice of seats and move around. Alex, the bartender, is really cool. He talks when you want to talk and leaves you alone when you want to left alone. The cocktails are well made with standard Manhattan pricing. I like that if I want a good cocktail, I can go here rather than make a trek to Park Slope or go out to the city. Someone left a tip that Thursdays — Saturdays that they have $ 2 tamales. We went on a Saturday and had chicken verde tamales with our cocktails. The tamales were good and a nice down home touch with the upscale cocktails.

I’ve been to Erv’s like ten times in the past two weeks. I’m not an alcoholic, I swear — it’s just that great of a place. Warm, welcoming, with utterly fantastic drinks that are a dollar or two cheaper but just as high quality(sometimes higher!) than what the fancy Manhattan cocktail bars serve — and you never get the side of pretension with your drink that you get at lots of other places. They really focus on balance here, which is so important… I’ve tried a few drinks that my friends ordered that I was convinced would be far too sweet for me and ended up finding a bunch of new unexpected favorites. The drink names are so creative and fun. It’s always hard to pick one. Bonus — I interrupt all conversations with my buddies here repeatedly to go «ooh, I LOVE this song!» because they’re playing all these old-school fabulous mixes with stuff from the 90s and early aughts. Great vibe. Alex and Rob and Leo are sweethearts and will absolutely take care of you. There’s a reason this place is always so packed(other than that it’s tiny — seriously, just come with a friend or two, not a whole group!). I’d travel to come here. So grateful I live so close!

I went here on a trip I took to NYC. We were staying at an Airbnb a block away, and this place delivered. It was cold, and we were a bit tired of taking the train to far-away places for the sake of a good New York experience. First of all, the Unilocal check-in deal for tequila shots was something that needed to be taken advantage of. Chased with some sort of tomatillo concoction, I quickly became a new fan of tequila. The rest of the cocktails, the environment, and the amazing service all made for an amazing night out in this neighborhood. The bar got busy, but the bartender was cool and collected the entire time — very attentive and aware of his bar. I will definitely be back on my next trip!

Thanks for the«Hot & New» heads up, Unilocal, otherwise I would’ve NEVER known about this place, which is next to a laundromat on a mostly residential dead-end block that I walk by every day for work. I finally made my way here tonight, and of all the new neighborhood drinking establishments to pop up within the past few months(total of 3, to my knowledge), I have to to say Erv’s stands out for its outstanding cocktails and one-man service. The place is small and as a result, very cozy. From the looks of it, I think it can comfortably seat 17 or so people. Even though it was a Sunday night, there was a decent crowd there. My boyfriend easily found seats at the bar, where Rob, the bartender/co-manager/co-owner greeted us. He was super friendly and incredibly helpful with our drink selections throughout our entire time there. He was also happy to talk about the different ingredients they use in their drinks and a little history about fernet. He called it word vomit, but my boyfriend and I enjoyed the conversation. Needless to say, Rob’s passionate about what he does. SO, the drinks. I ordered Rambo’s Revenge, which had a lot going on but the main ingredient was mezcal. I liked that it wasn’t very sweet but had a lot of subtle flavors, which the cinammon and spiced rim added to. My boyfriend had 2 drinks: Viva Italia! and Crawdaddy. Of the 2, Crawdaddy was definitely the favorite. Rob let us sample the ginger syrup they use in that drink, and whoa. I envision using that stuff for holiday cookies, but I also don’t object to them using it for this cocktail at all. Very tasty. Rob told us they’re switching up the menu in about a week or so, and they will also be rolling out some new drinks for the holiday season. I heard«bacon fat-washed» and«chorizo fat-washed» somewhere in there, so chyea, I’m coming back. As we were closing out, Rob gave us complimentary shots of whiskey with a curry-carrot-ginger syrup and manischewitz chaser, which ’twas deliciioousss. All this at the price of $ 9 per cocktail – a nice change from the $ 12-$ 18 prices they charge at specialty cocktail bars in Manhattan and hipper Brooklyn hoods. Can’t tell you how ecstatic I am this place is 5 mins away from home. Be jelly.
