We had such a great time tasting wine with Stephanie! We will definitely be back to stay in their B&B!

I missed the Mojave restaurant but had a great wine tasting session here. Free is always good but I like the southwest theme in a northwest desert.

We really loved this winery. The wine was good but the service was very good. The ladies working were very helpful and paved a trail of other wineries to visit. No ego, and they were right on each and every recommendation. Kudos!

Where do I start… the wine is delicious and a good value compared to most the wineries in Yakima Valley… the staff is super friendly. We stayed in the Sacajawea room… we have stayed in some amazing places my husband and I agree this is the most beautifully decorated and most comfortable room we have ever stayed in. The only bummer is we were unable to try the restaurant due to missing brunch on a Sunday… next time!

Incredible Tempranillo, and literally the best Club sandwich I’ve ever had in my life — and I’ve had lots! Worth the drive!

Great place to stop in Prosser. This gem is right off the highway, they have a very nice wine tasting area, restaurant and cute little shop with olive oil, chocolates, spices etc. The hostess and servers were very welcoming. I had a lunch which was one of the best on my whole trip to Eastern Washington. I had the BBQ babyback ribs which were so good. Tasted like slow smoked for hours and then just finished up with the right amount of sauce served smoking hot. So meaty and tender, 8 nice big ribs. They came with a nice apple slaw and great fritters. I also had the chef select salad with grilled romaine which went with the ribs so well. They let us do a wine tasting flight while we were eating and their dry reds are really excellent. I had so much food with the half rack of ribs that I had plenty to take with, but I had to try their berry crème brûlée which was absolutely amazing. it had big chunks of cherries in it.

We have been there twice and both times, the staff was friendly, wine great, especially for the price and the facility is amazing. We ate at the restaurant and it was unbelievable, food, service, friendly and caring and reasonable. I wish we lived closer, but we live in Olympia. Even though, it is worth the drive for a special occasion or a get away. We joined the wine club and have booked a room there for my wife’s birthday because we had such a good time.

I buy Desert Wind wine in the grocery store on occassion and I didn’t really know much about them before hand so I really wanted to stop in and see their tasting room when I found out they were located in Prosser. They have a HUGE facility with a nice little wine shop and tasting room plus their restaurant in there as well. I actually checked in and gave the Unilocal deal to my grandpa and then I bought the Deal on their profile page and got a bottle of the Ruah. The wines that we tried were really affordable but they didn’t offer a lot of variety, 2 whites and 4 reds to try. Most of the reds I wanted to try werent on their tasting menu, you had to be a club member to try them which I think is a bummer. My grandpa really liked their Viognier which he said that he typically doesn’t care for that varietal. I thought it was very delicious as well but have a bottle at home already that needs to be consumed. We didn’t eat at the restaurant this time but maybe next time we are in the area.

The in laws were talking about all of us doing lunch at the Desert Wind. So I decided to Unilocal it — Glad I did as I took advantage of the special deal — buy the $ 10 coupon and get $ 20 off. So we saved $ 10! Lunch was on the spendy side but all meals were amazing, even the dressings are hand made. The restaurant has a semi open kitchen and you can view meals being dreated. Our orders included the Deconstructed Chicken Pot Pie, SW Pulled Pork Sandwich, 2 Soup & Salad Combos — one salad being Caesar with chix — which was YUM! and the other with mixed greens — the soup was tomato and it was probably one of the best tomato soups I’ve ever had, and my Hubby ordered the chix sausage special. I would say that of all meals, the special was the least satisfying for my hubby, not enough meat or sun-dried tomatoes for intense flavoring. He was still hungry afterwards. The pulled pork was by far the biggest meal and was served with an abundance of fries. And my father in law devoured the pot pie and said it was delish! The outside of the building doesn’t look like much but I was extremely impressed with the interior, highly impressed! It is very stylish, comforting and very, very relaxing. The store carries nice items and they are displayed exceptionally well and are easy to view. I purchase 4 bottles of wine and a few store items using the 25% discount on Unilocal. The restrooms are very clean — mens have TV’s above urinals. Womens have a complimentary orange clove lotion, which I ended buying in store. We plan to go back when in the area — It is definitely worth the stop! HIGHLYRECOMMEND

We did a passport weekend for Catch the Crush and decided to book a special harvest dinner here on Saturday night. From the social get acquainted time before we were seated, through to the dessert, it was first class. We were treated to a number of wines and a course to fit each one. Several of the foods were memorable, especially the salmon appetizer during happy hour, the squash soup that was like none we had ever tried, and the chocolate cheesecake at the end. I would have given five stars but the ribeye steak was overdone bayside from that, which they apologized for, it was really wonderful. The PR here is amazing. Highly recommend the winery. Oh, and the wine is good too!!!

Another couple and my Wife & I recently stayed in two rooms here, and felt pretty conflicted about the place. Unfortunately, the negatives were enough to detract from the enjoyment of our weekend, so here goes. I’ll start off with the problem areas. We hadn’t even left Seattle yet after work on a Friday, and received a phone call from the 2nd couple we were meeting at about 4:45pm stating they were just called by the winery, and we had to check in by 5pm or not have a place to stay. Luckily they were in Prosser at the time, and checked in for both of us — would have been nice to know ahead of time. We never did receive a phone call. The next morning we walked downstairs to put the room on our gift card, and use our credit card for any incidentals. The lady behind the counter 1st tried to check us out, despite us stating we were staying for another night. She then told us we were too early to check in for the day, and we again told her we were there the previous night. We finally left and came back later that evening to get it straightened out. On checking out on Sunday we had money left over on our gift card from the rooms, and upon checkout, were going to clear the cards on wine or gifts. We had to wait until 10:30am for anyone to show up so that we could checkout. This place is not staffed to cater to their overnight guests, at all. The restaurant was pretty quiet, we had appetizers there one evening, and they weren’t bad. The wine was okay.

So my dad and I had come over to Prosser to do some wine tasting. We got parking easily enough, and it looked like a fine place-big and airy, lot’s of little goodies for enjoyment. But, when it came to a tasting-and it wasn’t busy by any means-we stood, and waited, and waited and waited. And for the record, we were not«smashed» or likewise, we were just standing there, getting ignored. Blatantly. I made eye contact with one girl-who didn’t say anything and continued fiddling with a knife. Another fellow was wrapping a large gift for someone but he at least acknowledged us, and said«it’ll be just a moment». He was busy, but at least considerate. The two other girls behind the tasting bar were just… rude. Finally, we just left… and the funny thing is-as we-a father and 40yr. old daughter left– a big big limo pulled up and we watched, and counted 9 drunk, girls-they were stumbling-pour out of the vehicle. Guess that’s more of the crowd they reach out to…

We had a wonderful stay for a weekend in early July. The room was beautiful. We had joined the wine club, as a previous post had suggested. The breakfast was very good. We ate at the restaurant for two meals. The crab cigars were great. Some of the other entrees were still in need of fine tuning. We will definitely be back

Although there are exceptions to the rule, when I see a big tasting room selling a bunch of stupid gift garbage, and a parking lot that has a special space for a bus/limo, I get worried… Desert Wind Winery was no exception… wines were watered down crap… the worst winery that I stopped at while I was tasting earlier this week. If you are in a group of people who are drunk and on a bus tour, you will probably have fun here, but if you are more serious about wine and sober at the time, just skip this place. Only reason I am giving them two stars is that the tasting was complimentary and the staff were friendly.

We’ve been to Desert Wind a couple of times before, but only for special passport events. This was the first time we checked it out on a random weekend. Wine-tasting was complimentary! We expected a tasting fee, so that was a pleasant bonus. Desert Wind is hard to miss from the freeway with the grand southwestern architecture. The tasting room/gift shop is enormous and I believe the adjoining dining area presents cooking demonstrations from time to time. There were 6 wines on the tasting notes, but we were also offered a Viognier, Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon which weren’t on the list. So we had 9 tastings, complimentary, and all were delicious. The Ruah blend is pretty well-known(I buy it at my local Metropolitan Market often)…a terrific blend of Cab Sauv/Merlot/Cab Franc. Service was presented with a smile and prompt attentiveness.

Staff was delightful. Friendly and helpful. We were very impressed with the ambiance — the main public areas were a cross between southwestern adobe and a kasbah in Morocco. A step above the ordinary making a visit very special. We lucked into a cooking class the night we arrived. The Executive Chef from Picazo entertained us with informative commentary while cooking 6 courses of world class food. Truly, if you can plan a stay around the guest chef functions, it’s a special treat. Check out the restaurant n Prosser if you can’t meet the chef in person. Stayed overnight in a lovely room. Fireplace, balcony overlooking the Yakima River, huge shower. Complimentary bottle of wine and lovely glasses of port after dinner. Very romantic and special.

Desert Wind Winery is right off the freeway as you come into Prosser. It is a large facility with many different varieties of wine. This was my second stop on my wine tour. We tasted two varieties from the barrell and some others. We also ate lunch here. It was a great experience with friendly staff and great food. They have a crab quesadilla that is pretty good. They actually put a decent amount of crab in them. Overall a wonderful experience. The only downside is that the back porch,(which is beautiful) has a lot of noise from the freeway.
