I brought my Girlfriend here for a night out, got in relatively quick for a Friday night. Waitress approached us immediately, didn’t ask what we wanted to drink but gave us water and let us look over the menu. Good size menu, very nice restaurant, I loved the fact it was clean looking & modern. The food was fantastic, for the price I paid for my dish I was amazed. I got Lemon Chicken with a Brick, comes with 2 sides, $ 14.99! I couldn’t believe my serving, the chicken was cooked just right. My girlfriend also enjoyed her meal as well. The waitress was nice but if she was more attentive I’d give 5 stars. Very good restaurant though, highly recommended!

First off, Andreas is NOT a pizza place. It is a small corner place that offers breakfast food, grinders, and most importantly, seafood, particularly Fish and Chips. As noted in a previous review, the portions are huge. My recent order of fish and chips featured 6 large pieces of fish, a ton of fries, 16oz of cole-slaw, and tartar sauce. I do watch what I eat, but I can appreciate a lot of food. I am incapable of eating all of the food from an order of fish and chips in a sitting, I generally share it or save it for later. The atmosphere is NOT fancy. It’s simple and has throwback items that might remind you of a great aunt’s house — and not in an ironic Ogies kind of way. Each time I’ve eaten here, the food has been very fresh– nothing seemed to be prepared too far ahead, the fish was fried up while I was waiting and was piping hot. The batter on the fish was light and flaky. There was some grease, but it’s also fried fish. My friend noted that neither the fries or the fish were too salty. I tend to like a lot of salt, but one can add more. They prefer cash, but they will take a credit card with an order over $ 15. The prices are really cheap for what you are getting in terms of portion sizes. As another review stated, you may want less food and, in turn, spend less money. One thing I noticed each time I have been there was that I was the only person– and it seemed like the food was being prepared for just me at that moment(getting back to my early part about the food being fresh). I think part of the logic may be that they would rather spend the same amount of time preparing a large amount of food for $ 13 than a small amount of food for $ 4(if that makes sense). In terms of their hours– they do seem to «flex» a bit– I tried going before and they were closed at random times. I asked the woman how late they stay open and she sort of shrugged. I get the impression it’s as late as they really feel like being open.

In the entire decade I’ve lived in this neighborhood, I’ve NEVER seen anyone come in or out of this place. The sign says«open», but when you look inside, you don’t see anyone behind the counter. Out of curiosity, I’ve even pulled the handle on the door during their working hours, and the door has been locked. The lights are on, but nobody’s home. Without doubting Leah’s review, when the hell did she get in there with someone to take an order? I’m seriously wondering if this is a real restaurant, or a cash only mob front, like Addie’s Laundromat on Atwells Ave, or A&J Distributors on Parade Street.

I didn’t REALLY expect wonders from this place, and I must be honest — I didn’t get them. Let me explain that, for four years, the smell of their fish and chips frying has wafted into my windows and tantalized me. It is one of my all-time favorites. For four years, I told myself, «Someday, I will try them.» Well, today was the end of that four year wait. The woman behind the counter was completely charming despite a bit of a language barrier. She was sweet, and though I made the false assumption that they take plastic(they don’t), she had no problem with my local check. Originally, I found their lack of takeout menus a pain, but I really don’t think I’ll order from them again. Their service is fine(despite cash only, no menus). Their place is just a teeny little corner, but that’s fine, too. And in all honesty, their food is fine in reasonable doses. Here’s the rub: a reasonable dose is NOT what you get. I think I’ve mentioned my aversion to complaining about large portion sizes before, but I also have an aversion to those huge portion sizes themselves. The amount of food my boyfriend and I got for an order of fish and chips and a small steak and cheese sandwich was borderline VULGAR. I was mentally prepared to spend the 20 dollars my order cost thinking I would get a cod filet and a serving of fries and a reasonably-sized sandwich(the woman at the counter gave me an estimate of a small that looked like 6 inches). What I got was FIVE big pieces of fish and five times the amount of french fries that I would even care to look at in a sitting. My boyfriend’s sandwich was twice as big as I thought it was going to be. Besides the obvious problem with huge portion sizes — what the eff am I going to do with all this food?! — there is the niggling thought in the back of my brain that I could have spent 1⁄3 as much as I did and been completely satisfied. I just wanted a bit of fish and chips to scratch that itch, and now I feel like I have to freeze this takeout so that I can finish it or field the guilt of throwing food away. That complaint out of the way, I can see how this would be a boon to someone. My order of F&C could have fed a family of 5 for 12 dollars. That’s pretty legit. But if that’s the intent, give me some warning! Restaurant owners, stop burdening your customers with huge portion sizes!
