Finally a great German restaurant and bar on Federal Hill. I love Italian food don’t get me wrong, but I’m 25% Italian and 50% German so it’s good to eat some traditional Bavarian cuisine for a change. I really enjoyed the restaurant décor and the servers /bartenders were very friendly and enthusiastic. Enjoyed the Schnitzel Chicken Tenders and the epic Bavarian Pretzel. I might get 2 pretzels next time they are that good but there are plenty of other great options I need to try out first. Service was great. Goes without saying they have an extensive premium beer selection that you won’t find at your average bar. Looking forward to grabbing dinner there again later this month.

Service was excellent, even with the post PC game crowd. Good beer selection, price point a little high(8.50 for the Ayinger Dopplebock) Food was very very good. We were a party of six and there was not one negative comment. Sauerkraut was excellent, bratwurst was very good. Pretzel was huge(and delicious)! The wings were very good. Fried pickles were the best of all. As a famous Austrian once said: I’ll be bock!

I really wanted to try this place out and was highly disappointed, not due to the food or drinks(as we didn’t even get that far) but with the service. My friends and I had a groupon and decided to check it out. It took about 20 minutes for anyone to even acknowledge we were there and once our drink orders were taken(just beer mind you nothing complicated) we sat for an additional 20 minutes without so much as a glance of acknowledgment or apology. We were both hungry and thirsty and decided enough was enough. Our waiter was talking to the manager and we politely said we were leaving as 40 minutes for a beer was ridiculous, nor did the manager or waiter even attempt to apologize or rectify the situation. Completely unprofessional and will never return.

My first time here. this new place. have to say. im impressed. Its clean nice and new inside. German bierhall style. long tables.lots of taps. huge steins of beer. you can get a pint too! ! ! The food was great too. Good vibe. great music selection. kitchy outfits for the waitresses. And the food was great! A nod to Germany with pretzels. wurst sandwiches… and the like. Sweet n spicy thai wings were outstanding… Great frys too! Our server was on top of things too. Adorible in her St Pauligirl outfit. but our drinks wrre never empty. she knew the food. and was sooo nice. I didnt get her name…(although she did tell us) but she was a latina girl with beautifull eyes. The prices were grest. And has great pontential for the spring and summer. huge outdoor patio. and lots of bars too.

I was a fan of smoke the cigar lounge /bar. Even though I don’t smoke it was a great atmosphere. The new owners that have made it into a German beer hall have done the same thing. What a cool Place to hang out. If you were not having dinner there it’s a great place to have beers watch tv and eat amazing pretzels and snacks. We had a groupon as usual so had to check it out. The bartenders are all friendly and helpful and made suggestions which is always a plus when it’s a new place. They have a decent amount of craft beers and also lots of German beers. One caveat you can’t not mix groupons with the specials which is fine because the specials are insanely cheap. Three dollar burgers and three dollar sausages the day we went. We had a pretzel appetizer. It had beer cheese and a mustard dipping sauce. It was the large one. When they say large it was the size of a pizza and huge. We didn’t think we would finish it. Yeah we did. It was that good. Also had two sandwiches with onion rings and truffle fries. Those were quite good also. I’d highly recommend this place for a casual tasty night out.

I had the pleasure of dining here on Saturday night 1÷31÷16 with three other people. The hostess seated us in the upstairs part around dinner hour. As we were there more folks came in. The lighting is low which was nice. Thankfully I carry a magnifier with a light to be able to see and read what is on a menu. We started out with an order of Buffalo Chicken egg rolls, schnitzel chicken tenders, a pitcher of sangria and two 32 oz glass of hefeweizen(wit-bier). For entrees, two burgers, a bratwurst, and a chicken sandwich. Two of us substituted onion rings for fries. I asked for lettuce only on my burger but was told by our lovely waitress Sarah(who was dressed in authentic german garb) that they don’t have lettuce or tomato. This was a bit of a suprise. Anyway, the egg rolls were tasty as was the chicken tenders. The beer was great. The sangria drinkers seemed please. My burger seemed small. Everyone else seemed to be pleased. A table nearby ordered a giant pretzel. On a return trip this will have to be tried. My overall impression is favorable. If they added a salad or two to round things out it would be better. This is a place for a quick beer and an app, not dinner unless they evolve the menu a little more. I would go for yourself.

We stumbled upon this place and it was our good fortune that we did! Food was great — Beer was ice cold and delicious — Manhattan was excellent. The bartenders/wait staff were pleasant, funny, and knowledgeable. Plus, they have awesome specials that make this place an even better deal! Go, for Pete sake! Go and enjoy!

Good beers(Kim, the bartender is a gem!) and good classic burger(though please upgrade your bun… it was like cardboard). Fun atmosphere, casual, welcoming, relaxed. Plus: they kept it toasty warm on a cold winter night.

The old smoke lounge. Nice environment with good wings. They have great daily deals that include .50¢ wing nights and family nights

Decided to try this place because I love traditional biergartens and have spent quite some time in Germany enjoying them. Perhaps that is what set this visit up for failure in comparison. Pros: Our server was very nice, attentive, and kind. The wings we tried(though not traditional biergarten fare) were good. The sweet and spicy Thai wings were the ones I had. It is quite nice inside, with long tables and exposed brick with soft lighting. Cons: The beer selection wasn’t quite as good as I thought it would be since it is a biergarten. Would have liked to see more options. While the wings were good, they weren’t anything special. You can get similar wings at many other places. They were out of pretzels(one of their hallmarks). The other food we ordered was generic at best. The schnitzel was overcooked, dry, and hard as a rock. We bought a Unilocal deal that said it could be used anytime and specifically states it is the business owner’s responsibility to ensure that the«deal must be honored according to terms on voucher. No additional restrictions may be added at time of redemption.» We showed it to our server to confirm we could use it and he said we could. There was no notation on the menu otherwise as well. We did partake in .50 wings(the night’s special) but ordered appetizers, drinks, and other food too — our bill totaled $ 45. When it came time to pay, the server took my phone with him for over 15 minutes and I could hear his manager berating him, swearing and using the F-word in front of guests, telling him we could not. We said we were happy to pay for the wings since they were already discounted, but should be able to apply our deal to the rest of our tab since Unilocal said it could not be amended. Another ten minutes later and without my phone, my husband went to get it from the manager. He DID discount my tab, but not by the $ 20 we had paid for on the Unilocal deal — there was a balance left over, but he marked it as redeemed. Given that the food wasn’t great, the beer selection lacking, the management rude their staff and not holding their end of the bargain when it comes to Unilocal deals, we cut our losses and left. I have to reiterate how wonderful our server was. We tipped him 35% of our original bill because he fought with his manager to do the right thing, showing him the«fine print» on the Unilocal deal. Perhaps if Biergarten doesn’t want people to use them when they have specials, they should add that to the Unilocal deal.

Decided to give this place a try for lunch a couple weeks back and since I been back 4 times already! The German beer selection is outstanding, good variety to choose from and the staff is very knowledgeable, very friendly, and attentive they will make sure your drinks are on point! The food was very very very very good, I had a giant pretzel for an App and that was filling! In my opinion this place has the best Bratwurst, Weisswurst and Bauernwurst that Rhode Island has to offer. It’s a must try at least once!

What a cool looking place! They have a German theme and the place is set up to seem like you are outdoors. There are windows everywhere and a tent on top, awesome outdoor seating(need to check out this summer). We had the Food Fights wing coupons so we ordered the Sriracha and Mango Habenero, both tasted great and were cooked perfectly! We also got the Sauerkraut Balls which had sauerkraut, potato, and sausage with an amazing spicy mustard sauce. The beer selection is plentiful and the service was great. They have nice bar with lots of seating and the rest of the restaurant is picnic tables of various sizes. Really cool place to try some German food and have a laid back night

Came in for the Lord of the wings challenge. Have to say, the wings were great. Had the Thai wings and they were crispy and perfectly cooked. Buddies and I got some burgers as well as the secret sauce is really good. Finish off the meal with some fries and an ice cold cider, great meal. The manager waited on us because it was busy and he’s a great guy. Nice to see a manager willing to serve as need be. Will definitely be coming back again

My friend and I stopped by because we had the Lord of the wings tickets to try their wings. The place was very cool inside and out. Seems like this place would be rocking on the weekend but was very slow on the Sunday we were there. The waitress was very nice but didn’t seem to excited when she saw our coupon for free wings. Like she was thinking we wouldn’t tip that well lol. I always tip based on total bill prior to discounts. I had the bone in buffalo and they were average. Not too spicy but nothing I couldn’t get at any cookie cutter restaurant. My friend got the bbq boneless. They came out as flat as a bookmark and tasted like KC masterpiece.

We came here for the first time tonight. Loved it. I had the buffalo wings and Thai wings. Amazing. These guys know how to do wings right! They were crispy and full of delicious flavor(and only .50 each) ! My gf went with a bratwurst that was fantastic too. Tough to beat the $ 3 beers too. The exposed brick was a nice touch. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive and the manager was very nice too. I can’t wait to go back and get more of those great wings(and try a bunch of other things I didn’t get to yet). Check this place out if you are in Providence. The location is easy to get to right in Federal Hill with plenty of parking. Oh and check the website for the daily specials.

Just went they and I also wanted to really like this place. The pretzels really need to be improved! They were not edible. Brats were fine. Beer selection seemed somewhat pricey. Service was very attentive and friendly. I’ll give it another try at a later time.

I wanted to like the place, but alas, I’ll have to wait a while to come back if I do. Some kinks need to be worked out. The wings were crispy, the sauerkraut balls were original and tasty, and the truffle parm fries were perfect. The Bavarian pretzel was not good. You could tell that it wasn’t made that day or even in house. They tasted stale and were hard. The soda was very flat. The server acknowledged that there was a problem with the soda machine, yet still charged us for our sodas. That’s not cool.

My boyfriend and I came here last night because we had Lord of the Wings coupons. It was dead because it was 5:30 on a Tuesday. We were greeted by every employee, which was nice. The service was great. There was some confusion regarding promotions they had, but our waitress cleared up the issue quickly. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is great. All exposed brick walls. It’s dim, but there are lights strung along the ceiling. I think I heard something about the roof being retractable, which sounds amazing for the Summer. We walked through an outside bar and patio area that looks cozy and perfect for the warmer months. The drinks were reasonably priced. The food was fine. My boyfriend tried the buffalo and the sweet Thai wings. He said both were good. They looked pretty meaty. I tried some fries, which were good, but needed some light seasoning. They have curry ketchup at the table. It’s sweeter than other curry ketchups I’ve tried, but it’s good. I also had the Bavarian pretzel. I asked for the cheddar cheese with the pretzel. The cheese was the kind that you would get with your nachos at a ball game or the movies. I was hoping for a homemade cheese sauce since I was paying extra for it(and didn’t get any mustard), but it was fine. I’d definitely go back there to have a few drinks.

Been twice already. Very casual place. The giant pretzel is awesome! Comes with a sweet mustard that is good, but they have a spicy mustard imported from Germany that I liked even more. Got a basic hot dog with beer battered carmalized onions, which was really good, as were the french fries. They have a curry ketchup from Germany that I didn’t try but my fiancé liked. On top of all that, they have Dos Equis on draft, only $ 6 for 32 oz!!! That alone is reason to check this place out. They also have Paulaner on draft, amongst a bunch of other beers. The waitresses wear traditional German dresses and you def feel like you’re enjoying Oktoberfest.
