I frequently stop by Nero’s Foundry Café on my trips to and from Boston. They have the best veal parmigiana sandwich in New England — I believe they use the fresh mozzarella and they get the real milk. The owner, Kevin Nero, makes the cheese himself in the basement — all he does, all day long, is makes fresh mozzarella. He’s a top notch cheese maker. The sauce they use is made by Nonna, and it’s full of natural ingredients, tomatoes and herbs. Usually, if you eat at the restaurant, Nero himself will pass by and hand deliver a small sambucca with an espresso — he likes to speak with his customers and find out how the food was. I give this place 5 stars for service, quality and ambiance.

As the name would imply, it is a small café located in the Foundry Building complex. It serves primarily the workers within the office part of the complex. There are numerous offices and hundreds of workers within the building. As you likely would guess, I am one of those workers. These smaller cafes take care of a niche and don’t get too many«outsiders», but it is important to review for several reasons, one being that it deserves it! I am a fan mostly because of the convenience and the staff. I know I am a few flights of stairs away from a hot cup of coffee, a quick breakfast, or a hearty sandwich. They also have a full salad bar, soups, cereal, and daily specials. The cook is always trying new and exciting items and is very creative… sometimes I think he uses us as his test dummies… hey I don’t mind being a dummy! Wait a minute, did I just say that? The food has never been bad. But don’t expect a five star meal either, it is good food and hits the spot when you need it. The«outsiders» that might stop in will be happy with the choice of stopping in. The staff are great… from super friendly, to knowing your name, to a good ball busting too! It is always a laugh and enjoyable time just picking up a coffee. There is plenty of seats in an open area which is part of the old foundry building, there is a large TV, and free wi-fi. Good place to take a break. The only downside are the prices. I wish it was a little less expensive, but also understand that the smaller businesses have higher prices and that it just the way it goes. So stop in when you get your boat registered and say hi to the owner Kevin… he will always say«hey buddy»!
