Amazing trivia night, the guy who runs it is funny. The drinks were unacceptably weak. My White Russians tasted like milk w a splash of Khalua, and my old fashioned was watery. We watched the bartender pour a drink, 1.5 second pour. Stick with beer the bartender doesn’t know what she’s doing

A great Irish pub in wayland square. Cool story how it came about too. Food and drinks pretty good. Check it out.

You are not open 24⁄7. Please update your site. Went here after work looking forward to a beer and disappointed by false advertisement arriving before 2am and closed.

I spent many hours here on Saturday and was treated so well and enjoyed myself thoroughly. We started at a table for drinks and snacks– we got nachos and potato cakes. The nachos were average, but the potato cakes were so delicious! We moved to the bar and had many drinks. The bartenders and wait staff were friendly and attentive– The kinda people who make you want to return to a place. I was told that the beef stew is AMAZING(but only learned this after I ordered) so I’ll have to try it next time, since I’ll definitely be back. The other patrons were super friendly also. It’s a classic Irish pub where everyone chats with one another at the bar and it feels homey. Loved every second of it.

McBride’s is an interesting place with pluses and minuses. I’ll start with the positives. I don’t think I’ve ever had anything there that I didn’t like. The food is your typical pub grub. The burgers are always cooked well and a pretty decent size. A must for me is that the Guinness be poured properly, especially at an Irish pub, and they definitely pour it properly here. I had a salad recently and the toppings aren’t scarce. You get a decent amount of what’s actually supposed to be on it. Lastly, its nice to have the option to eat outside on a beautiful day which you can do on their patio. The minuses aren’t many but there are a couple. The service seems hit or miss. Earlier in the day it seems to be slower and not as friendly whereas later in the day things seem to improve in my experience. The service gets better and friendlier. The other potential minus depends on you as a person. If you like that vibrant, almost«homey» atmosphere that you get at some Irish pubs, McBride’s seems to lack that. If you like things a little quieter and toned down then you might not be bothered by the atmosphere. It’s not a bad place to go with a friend and have a drink and eat good food. But if you prefer a more lively pub experience, this may not be the place for you.

The Irish nachos and shepherd pie are the reason to go here. Other food options are«Fine», atmosphere is a little blah and service can be spotty, but it has a decent beer selection and since there aren’t any real Irish Pub-type options on the east side, it’s pretty much the best/only choice.

I always have a great time at McBride’s. The food is great(try the shepard’s pie and the nachos), the selection of beer and booze is good and the service is great. It has a nice vibe inside from the patio to the decorations. I don’t know why some reviewers are complaining about the service because the staff is always friendly and prompt. There is a nice mix of regulars, a great patio and plenty of parking. It’s my go to spot in Wayland Square.

This place is such a shame. I’ve just never been in an Irish pub that was so boring. The food sucks, but Irish pub food is usually crap anyway, so expectations are low. It’s quite expensive, though. Weird, sterile atmosphere, indifferent service. The crowd is odd as well, I think because there are no neighborhood regulars so everyone is just kind of random. Music sucks. Beer and liquor selection is whatever. And why is it so bright in here? It’s supposed to be a pub, you guys.

The worst service. Bartender told us last call at 10:45. Served people that came in after us. Told us if she had her way, last call would be at 10. Turned away 25 – 30 people.

Had a very pleasant evening at McBride’s last night. Not the most attentive bartender, but she made good drinks. Not the best food(asked for my salad with dressing on the side) but instead, salad came fully dressed. It was okay, they had music and it’s a friendly place. Enjoyed it.

The bartender asked me if I wanted a Manhattan on the rocks or straight up. I answered that I’ll have a normal Manhattan. He then made a face at me that suggested I answer the question. I answered that a Manhattan is not served on the rocks. He huffed away and I’m pretty sure he served me straight whiskey in a martini glass.

Been here several times before. Always been pretty good, with some definite stand outs(Shepard Pie covered nachos, the famine pizza). This time, I had family pick up some takeout for me. I got the Ruben sandwich. Held up pretty darn good & was still warm with crispy rye when it arrived. The fries didn’t travel quite as well, sadly. What I really liked about the sandwich was the meat. It was more thickly cut than your traditional Ruben. And the sauce was tasty, & not glopped on like at most other places I’ve tried. My past experience with this place yielded the following: nice, simple Irish themed décor, good beer options, friendly staff, occasional live entertainment(band, trivia, etc.). Prices are reasonable. Parking in the back(but is a paid lot during the day M-F…unless you’re there less than a hr. Moderate variety of choices. They have a small bar area, and a smallish dining area; a large party could take up most of the space. There is outdoor seating at times…4−5 tables. Better suited to older kids & adults, though definitely not inappropriate to bring the little ones. Worth a look see :-)

The place lacks heart. And service. And food quality. I want to love it so much more — there is a huge need for a fun and casual option in Wayland Square to combat the stifling shi shi vibe of most other establishments. But it never feels like home there: no sense of regulars, I’ve never eaten anything there that didn’t make me feel like it was prepackaged and deep fried, and the beer menu is uninspired. I’ve been at least 10 times since it opened for various birthdays, meetings, etc. It’s never been terrible. But it’s consistently been mediocre. Patio is great for people watching. Space is reasonable for large events. Some creative menu options like the Shepherd’s Pie nachos. Totally«fine» if you’re looking for pub grub. Look elsewhere for a good meal.

McBride’s is great! The outdoor patio is inviting and always full of people! I’ve visited McBride’s twice now. The first time was first drinks and an appetizer. We tried the Irish Nachos which were amazing. What’s better than Shepard’s Pie? SHEPARD’S PIEINNACHOFORM. The chips are sliced and fried potatoes! The second time I tried the Chicken Pot Pie. The puff pastry was golden brown and delicious. The inside was hot and gooey. I really enjoyed the flavor of the chicken and peas. Next time, I need to be less eager and wait for it to cool so I don’t completely burn my tongue! I can’t wait to come back and try more Irish cuisine!

I am giving this place three stars for now, and when I get a chance to eat there I will update it again. We stopped here on our way to dinner for drinks. The outside was packed. The inside was desolate. The outside seating is limited but looked very cozy. The entire place is well kept and well decorated. Although I am not sure the irish music is really needed. I really cannot say a lot right now, other than the place looked like it should be packed, and it was not. Maybe it was an odd night, maybe we were missing something. But the place looked nice enough that you would think it would be packed all the time, or at least a bit busier. When we are in the area again and are in the mood for somr pub grub, we will be giving this a try.

My frist visit to McBride’s was very enjoyable. There were three of us for lunch. The pub was not crowded and the atmosphere quiet, but my brother tells me the noise level goes up at night when the pub is much busier. It is a clean, well organized pub with good food and a menu offering some traditional Irish as well as American dishes. I ate a blue cheese burger that I ordered medium rare but arrived medium well. The server immediately offered to bring it back and bring me another but the flavor was so good on the one cooked more than I wanted that I chose to keep it! My brother had the turkey burger which he says he usually orders and always enjoys and likewise my sister in-law had the crispy chicken sandwich that is her standby. For those who judge restaurants by their bathrooms, I wish my apartment was as clean!

What the hell is this place. I get it, I get it, «It is what it is» but if you don’t know what IT is, that’s hella confusing. I don’t want some existential clustercuss when I go to get tipsy, I want a tried and true. Unfortunately, this is the only non-bougie bar in Wayland Square which is why it gets away with overpriced drinks, a crappy beer selection, and a strange mélange of patrons that is never quite the same from visit to visit. I’ll go here to watch hockey games but that’s pretty much it. Sometimes they have live music which is too loud and mega depressing. It’s actually a shame because the bar itself is super nice and reminds me of my favorite Irish watering holes from back home in Poughkeepsie. I’ve never had the food other than fries but it seems like standard pub fare at expected prices. I don’t know. It is what it is, I guess, as paradoxically apt and inaccurate that is.

What a great place ! They serve food there but we were there for a pub crawl and food was not even a thought yet. It’s a small unassuming little place but is big on spirit. It’s a very warm homey place. Everyone who works there was smiling and welcoming. Our beers were cold and reasonably Priced. The bar is a decent sized and can accommodate quite a few people. Being New Year’s Eve they were passing out hats and champagne. This is a great place to go to if you want a comforting atmosphere to relax. I’m looking forward to going again and trying out some Irish pub fare since it looked good.

I am a fan of McBride’s small, pubby feel. However, to sum it up, nice bar to have a beer but lacking in the food area and they rely heavy on their outdoor seating. So let me say, their food is not terrible, Irish staples and the shepherd’s pie filling on the nachos is pretty awesome. And hey you can’t beat being served by someone with an Irish accent. So why 3 stars? I hate to bring down a restaurant because of where it is but McBride’s this is Wayland. Have to step up your game around here where you have Haruki, Salted Slate, Lim’s and even Wayland Diner. I know you are better than a chain, but the food on the menu is what it feels like. I see a few smatterings of ingenuity on the menu, keep that up McBride’s! A good pub to emulate is Ivy Tavern, where a focus on sandwiches and a few special dishes is great. McBride’s not a bad place to get a brew, a summer place to enjoy the weather, and the food is pretty good but for the area, I just want it to be a little more.
