The Point is my go-to bar. The ambience is casual, and it’s always a perfect level of busy and noisy without being too busy or noisy. I’ve never had trouble getting a table either inside or out back on the patio. They keep about 6 – 8 beers on tap and maintain a list of seasonal cocktails in addition to a wine list. The staff is friendly and efficient. I’ve only ever eaten a piece of a pizza there and it wasn’t phenomenal but the burgers look decent. I wouldn’t go there for dinner, but it is nice to have food as an option. Overall, very solid place.

This has got to be my favorite bar in Providence. It’s small, warm and cozy, and the service is great. It occasionally can be packed with college students and/or locals, but it is the best low-key place to get a drink on the East Side, especially when the weather isn’t great. I love grabbing a seat at the bar and chatting with the very friendly bartenders, or sitting at one of the tables in the back to chat with friends. It’s also a great place for first dates!

Really chilled local pub for a beer or drink with really friendly service & clientele. The best Wickenden has to offer. Love walking down with my wife on a Friday night and grabbing a drink or two.

After waiting 10 minutes to get a beer on a weds night(not busy) the bartender poured me a Guinness. It was $ 8.11 for one Guinness… This is Providence who charges that for one Guinness??? If I saw true value in the establishment and felt I was getting my money’s worth that would be one thing… Believe me, that is not the case. Go elsewhere.

The point tavern is a nice little bar. It’s pretty quiet, low key, and the crowd is a little older than the typical college bars in the area. The bartenders are nice and the drinks are fairly priced. The back patio is nice too! The music can be hit or miss, not sure who makes those decisions but we had to move outside due to a little too much Adele. Overall though, not a bad place to have a couple of drinks if you are looking for a low key environment.

Always good people here, on both sides of the bar. Dave is the best bartender in RI.

My husband and I love this spot. Great backyard patio area to sit and drink a beer and they always give free bar snacks! Nice place to relax and enjoy a drink after work! Only downfall is there is no food, if you’re looking for that.

After spending stretches of localdom at many a Fox Point dive, I have finally found the elusive ‘home.’ The point falls into the rare category of ‘know what you are and do it well’ in the ever-evolving battlefield of Providence watering holes. The Point nails the three key categories of dive bar evaluation. First off, the menu is a refreshing variety of delicious brews, wines, and liquors priced at a point that won’t leave you burning your weekly fun money for a few rounds. No food, but BYOF from any of Wickenden’s diverse eateries(or order directly from the Duck & Bunny at the bar). After dumping a small portion of a mortgage into completing my beer card at Wickenden pub, a 10 dollar tab is a breath of fresh oxygen into my crippled financial lungs. Oh, and they have absinthe. Second, we’ve got a quaint, dark, and sleek ambiance accentuation; both inside and out. I’m personally a fan of sitting at the bar when inside, but I’ve been spending the majority of my weekly kickback-seshes on the back patio. Around back you’ll find a few metal tables propped on a gravel patio, adorned with string lights and umbrellas for all. As with all Fox Pointers, the feel captures the residential, backyard setting to a T. Side note to the people that live above the bar: Is it awesome? Does it suck? Is my laugh as obnxious as they say? Can we be friends? And after my digression — Thirdly, the service. Crystal is a joy and muddles up a killer Old Fashioned with that friendly neighborhood attitude. Myself and my friends have become a bit of weekly regulars and she makes the spot that much more to the far end of the awesome spectrum. The other bartenders on other nights are equally as spot-on. Come in and kick it, it’s the best on the street by far.

This is a nice place with a pretty classy look to it. There are a large selection of beers on the menu mostly bottles but they have around 6 to 8 on tap. It looks like this place serves about as much wine as beer, although I can’t speak to the quality of the selection. Smallish though. I came with a group of about 10 and we filled about a quarter of the space in the bar.

Great patio! Happy Hour from 5 – 7 with half off bar food! With that being said, I don’t think I’d pay full price for the food. The black bean quesadilla was good and the sliders were good(according to the person who ate them). Quesadilla came out with whopping side of sour cream and salsa too. Thanks. I’ll warn against the pizza unless you like thin crust, cracker style. We got the buffalo chicken and it wasn’t what I expected. Let down. Again it was $ 7 but $ 14 full price. I’d be upset with portion size and taste. Friendly staff when we were there! Seemed like an alright beer and wine selection. Full bar too.

This place is beautiful inside and the bartender was super friendly, chatting about the history of the location and suggesting appetizers and drinks. The apps are on the pricey side, but we lucked out by making this one of our first stops of the evening, so we hit the half price app period. We tried the pulled pork slider, which was quite tasty on the pretzel roll. It comes with a house pickle, which is sweet… fair warning! The empanada was just ok. The point pizza was definitely tasty — probably wouldn’t pay the full price for it, though. I would stop in here again for drinks.

Small, dark and handsome. Friendly barkeeps. Here’s a Fox Point hang that doesn’t have to pretend to be anything more than what it is — a cozy joint to kick back, grab a drink and have a good time with friends. Clean bathrooms too.

A classy bar with no snobbishness, and a healthy ego. Great place to go with a group or just a few friends. The indoor seating is nice, as is the outdoor patio area. There is a good variety of music, and Dave is one of the most friendly and knowledgeable bartenders I know. Great selection of drinks, great times.

Really low-lighting, every patron that comes here is placing a competitive game of «who swallowed the megaphone?»(read as: loud). Do not come here for an intimate evening. Come here with a group. Definitely not a solo-drinker place, either. It just feels out of place. The bartenders are wonderful though. Speedy, well-made drinks, remember your name. Upper-class dive? I like it predominantly because I come here with the same people and, after all, isn’t it the people that make the bar feel like home?

I’m quite inexperienced when picking out bars since I’m not much of a beer drinker, however, what I do look for when I’m out and about is a place that can serve up a good mixed drink. I chose The point after reading some glowing reviews, however, upon actually ordering the drinks, I was very disappointed by the quality. The bartender was very nice, and I ended up trying the French Whiskey Cocktail and the fruitier cocktail(in which the name eludes me). The whiskey was good, however, the other cocktail was poorly mixed and way too alcoholic and left a terrible aftertaste in which I had to give up my whiskey to finish that drink for my girlfriend instead. If it weren’t for that drink, the overall experience would have been a little more pleasant. The ambiance is quite decent, with a mix between a date night and friends outing. There is no food, however, so either pregame with some food or order in. Food: n/a Drinks: 3 stars Ambiance: 3 stars

I came here a couple of times when it was Abe’s and I must say I dig he new vibe. Low lighting, friendly bartenders, and tasty cocktails. The draft selection is always pretty great. Love to grab a beer here after dinner on Wickenden but had a grapefruit-gin cocktail that was really delicious as well. I always feel welcome here, even when I’m bringing in food from various businesses, including the time we brought in gelato from down the street. I’ve always been greeted with a smile and a great drink. I will keep coming back when I’m looking for a beverage in an atmosphere that is somewhere other than Duck and Bunny or Wick pub. They have a great patio out back for drinks al fresco during the summer. Definitely a place to put on your radar if you haven’t been.

This bar is certainly not the most special, exciting, or whatever, but the outdoor is seating is really nice, there are tons of $ 4 beers for me to choose from, and you can even order in food and enjoy a meal with your drink! The bartenders are friendly, it’s not pretentious. It’s a good go-to place, I’d say:)

I’m converted! My past three visits I’ve gotten a dirty gin martini and my past three visits my martinis have been excellent. The blonde bartender(I wish I knew her name!) is just awesome. She’s super friendly, makes a kick ass drink and if she helps you, you should tip her well. She’s also liberal with the tasty bar snacks. Apparently there’s also a back patio now?!? It was still a bit cold last time I was there, but rest assured, I now know where I’m spending far too much of my summer.

Really happy to have found this place! A friend had a birthday get-together here on a Saturday night and it was lovely. Refreshingly classy space with what seemed like fairly new furnishings, awesome bartender, and solid cocktails. The beer selection seemed really solid and I know my friends were pleased with their beers. I was in the mood for a cocktail and ordered one from their martini menu. I forget the name of it, but it had lime and St. Germain. It was strong and tasty– so I ended up ordering another cocktail later, the Honey Pot. I would definitely come here and order cocktails again. It’s not like cocktails are their specialty, and I’m actually pretty picky about cocktails(my pet peeve is when they’re watered down with mixers). So it was a pleasant surprise that they were so good! The only downside was that it filled up quickly and became so loud that pretty soon my friends and I were shouting to one another, even though we were sitting only a few feet apart. I lost my voice by the time we left! That hasn’t happened since I went to a concert.
