Stopped by their food truck while I was at the Pawtucket wintertime a farmers market. Ordered the pork tacos and they were amazing! The taco was very balanced with the cilantro, onion and radish. The pork was minimal seasoned which let the natural pork flavor come through. Their tacos are worth a try!

My experience at Mijos brought me back to my days in L.A. when quality Mexican food was never more than a few blocks away. The fish tacos with local cod featured their excellent hot sauce and were tasty. Not my favorite fish tacos but very good. The carnitas burrito was fabulous. As was the Mexican hot chocolate. Overall I would highly recommend you partake if you haven’t already. Great guys as well, enjoyed chatting.

I tried Mijos for the first time during RI Food Fight’s Taco Mania and it most certainly won’t be the last. Being a Mijos newbie — the gentleman in the window taking the orders was super helpful in terms of making recommendations. I tried the chorizo(which was spicy, but not too hot) and the carnitas. Both were awesome. I like that they keep the toppings simple. I also had the most amazing Grapefruit soda I think I’ve ever tried. I know it’s not something they made themselves, but it definitely earned them some serious brownie points in my book. I follow these guys on Twitter(to try and figure out where they’ll be next) and while they don’t always update when they’re out and about, if you see them they’re definitely a must try!

Great little food truck with totally amazing tacos and excellent service! Was craving tacos… read the reviews and called in an order of tacos carnitas, chips and salsa. Everything was perfect and of high quality. The carnitas tacos were loaded with fresh, tender pulled pork and topped with fresh cilantro, onions and salsa Verde and garnished w lime and radishes. They were really lean and juicy. The chips and salsa were really yummy too. I will be returning soon. Owners are really nice. And… they are open late so really convenient.

Just went back again for some tacos. Had amazing bacon tacos(that the guy saved an extra, from his own stash), grilled chicken burritos, quesadillas and braised beef burritos.

We hired Peter to cater a customer appreciation event at our office today. They guys showed up on time and were ready to rock as soon as the first customer arrived. We have lived in Rhodie for only a short time and I have realized that there aren’t as many good Mexican food options as we had in Chicago. I can honestly say that Mijos was fantastic. The carnitas and chorizo tacos were definitely on point! We are already planning our next event and can’t wait to have Mijos back!

I tried Mijos twice. I went to the truck(bus) because I was thrilled to eat some«LA style tacos» and I ordered carnitas and chicken and chorizo and one other that I can’t recall. But I was hugely disappointed. They looked pretty good but I swear there was no flavor aside from the hot sauce I resorted to using to give some sort of life to the tacos. I figured that maybe they were having an off day and because the reviews were great I opted to give them another shot at a later date. Same result. Bland bland bland tacos. It’s like salt isn’t even used. I’m not sure why there are such rave reviews but two tries was enough for me. Side note: owner and other guy working on the truck were super pleasant!

Thank you for college late-night-1am-runs! I absolutely love Mijos! Superb quality, kind people, good quantity of food, and most importantly, conveniently located as it’s a food truck! And, they take credit cards! I usually have their quesadillas with either carnitas, chicken or shrimp. Other times I get a burrito, and because there is an option of adding a fried egg to anything, or avocados, I add those in too. Fish tacos are delicious as well!

Mijos continues to impress me time and time again. I have loved their fresh, delicious tacos since they first arrived in town and I continue to fall back in love with them every time I am able to track them down. I know their truck is out pretty frequently but I only seem to run in to them at the Farmer’s Markets and at an occasional event around Providence. Although, I wish I could dine on their fare more often, I feel that the gaps between experiences keeps the longing in my heart strong and makes my lunch that much more stupendous. The service is always friendly and fast(even when the line is long), they frequently source local, and did I mention how damn good the tacos are?! Oh, and don’t forget to try their specials. Whatever is etched on the white board is what I will usually sample that given day. Fresh fish, tasty sweet potatoes, shrimp freakin ceviche(in taco form, I kid you not!), and pork al pastor. Their specials are their masterpieces. Do it. Also, I can always appreciate an authentic Mexican taco on a warm soft corn tortilla with a lime, cilantro and radish. Ridiculously good. As many food trucks start to open up brick and mortar locations, I dream of the day that I can get Mijos tacos at any day and time but til that day I will appreciate the times I can track down that beacon of bright orange. They are so good and at this point, no other taco truck compares. *Side note: they now take credit cards! Woohoo!

I get excited when I see the Mijos Tacos truck!!! Everything that Peter Gobin creates is fantastic! I enjoy the food so much, there have been time taco’s have become breakfast. Be sure to try the specials — they definitely use only the freshest ingredients and it shows!

Okay, okay. Peter is dope. His carnitas are dope. The mexican hot chocolate is dopeness on a freezing cold day. It’s so thick and spicy that it’s puddingesque. The prices are great. The food quality is great. The wait times are short, even when busy. So why am I so critical in my first review? Shut up and enjoy the burrito.

This food is a severe disappointment. It looks wonderful, it looks like the technique is spot on, but the seasoning is so far off. I understand wanting to do Mexican food from scratch, but in doing so, they sucked all the goddamn fun out of it. To be honest it seems like whoever is running this place has an idea of what the food should look like, but no idea about what the textures and flavors should be. You’re better off going to one of the many hole in the wall taco places that are all over the city.

Best tacos ever! Living in CA my whole life and growing up on tacos, I’ve missed the heck out of Mexican food since relocating out to RI. Finding Mijos at The Pawtucket Winter Farmer’s Market was the balm to my taste buds! The tacos are amazing and their red sauce holds up against any west coast taqueria. I highly recommend the chicken or carnival tacos. My son lived their quesadilla. Best quote of the morning, «this tastes just like home mommy! « Thank you Mijos for making living across the country a little less foreign!

Mijos Tacos catered a party of mine this weekend and we couldn’t be happier. The service was great and the food was excellent!

I really really really wanted to love it. We tried pollo and carne asana tacos, quesadilla, and rice and beans. $ 20. Didn’t like any of it. Pollo tacos were okay/edible, but a bit bland. Had the green sauce. The red spicy sauce we had on the steak was all heat — not flavor, just heat. Steak was fatty and tough. My husband I and I both had to throw it away. So sad. The rice and beans lacked flavor. I am from Southern California so maybe my standards are too high, but I wouldn’t go back. Very disappointed. Good service and clean truck, however.

This is one of those instances where I just don’t understand the Unilocal hype. The tacos are OK, although almost all of the meat options(chicken, carnitas, etc.) seem insanely underseasoned. Come on, where’s the salt?! The burritos have the same lack of seasoning, and on every component, so they are much worse. Bland meat, bland beans, bland and undercooked rice. The sauces are good(but are they house made?), and so are the tortillas(locally made, but not by mijos), but everything else falls short. I guess the only other taco game on the east side is at Chipotle… but you can do much better if you venture a little further afield. Go to La Lupita!

I was looking forward to finally trying Mijos and was excited to hear they were going to be at the Cinco de Mayo block party. Unfortunately though, the tacos didn’t really live up to hype. The plan was to try one of each of the tacos they were featuring. Unfortunately just before we ordered we were informed they ran out of the braised bacon(and then after the fact the shrimp tacos as well). So in the end the tacos we got to try were the chorizo, the pork and the local fish. The portions were what I expected, the flavor or lack there of was extremely disappointing. The fish and pork barely seemed like they were seasoned and were very bland. Even with the added guacamole and hot sauce, these two were very flavorless. The chorizo, even a little bit on the greasy side, was good and made me wish I had ordered 3 of those instead. I know it was the Cinco de Mayo block party so the lines were definitely longer than normal and I can imagine they were slammed in the truck to get orders out as fast as possible. Maybe one day I’ll be able to catch them at a different location and hopefully the second time around might be better than my first experience.

Finally! I have passed the Mijos Tacos truck when it is parked at home base, closed, waiting to be restocked. I love me a good food truck and here is this one, right down the road, never open. But then, one glorious Saturday at the Hope Indoor Farmers Market my nose picked up the waft of deliciousness and out in the courtyard was Mijos Tacos! The fun orange truck was open, ready for business and with a short line at 10:30am. Hurray! I grabbed a place in line and patiently waited my turn. I approached the window and placed my order — it was simple, three chicken tacos with mild salsa and three beef tacos with the hot salsa. Then I waited and watched the line grow, fans ordering the pork belly tacos by the score(note to self, try one of these next time). Since the food was made to order, it took a few minutes and my tacos were ready. They counter lady helped package it up to go and I left with my delicious booty. Hubs and teenage son were waiting to be picked up — good thing the tacos where in the back of my SUV. After grabbing them, we were all salivating on our ride home, which was never so long! At last, we sat at the comfort of our kitchen table and savored each taco. The chicken with mild salsa was perfect. The salsa was not too hot for teen boy, the lime and cilantro giving the warm tortilla a nice compliment. The beef with hot salsa had a delicious bite of heat, but not so much that we were running for milk. I’m so glad to have finally found the Mijos Tacos truck open and will now be stalking it on it’s Facebook page so I can procure more of this deliciousness! You should too!

Every Friday, Mijos Tacos visits the Hope Artiste Village. And every Friday you can bet I will forget my lunch. :) I love the tostada. I’ve tried both the chicken and the pork versions. It’s filled with the perfect blend of delicious ingredients. And it’s huge! All for just $ 5.(On a corn tortilla too, which fits perfectly with my wheat-free diet) And their salsa is highly recommended. I am not a huge fan of tacos so I’ll reserve judgement for another reviewer who has a better taste for those.

Pete(the owner) is a burrito slinging ninja of the highest degree. Wielding Elotes swords and fish tacos for throwing stars not only will Mijos fill you up but you’ll feel like you could take on the Dragon, Bruce Lee himself after your done eating. Super fresh ingredients that are seasoned to perfection is the reason that when this truck pulls up to events you can’t even get close. So get in line and be ok with the wait. Make some new friends and figure out what you want to eat because the wait is 100% worth it. The Elotes: roasted sweet corn with mayo, cojita cheese and some other super secret ingredients is a perfect starter. If Pete has fish tacos on the menu you should order them. You won’t find fish that’s more fresh than this. I promise. The Burritos are the size of my head and will you fill you up and you won’t have to eat again until your next Mijos trip. Super friendly, delicious and perfectly priced Mijos is the epitome of an amazing Providence Food Truck. Oh and did I mention the Mexican Coke or the Jarritas? Yup. Perfection.
