The Wickenden has a fantastic beer selection. You can even join the 100 beer club and get your name on the wall when you finish. Bartenders are great. This is definitely a PUB.

Wickenden Pub is the BEST place for beer selection! Join the 100 beer club and get get your name on the wall when completed! Quite an honor! Monday beer deals, Thursday raffles! The bartenders are great– friendly with a wonderful dry sense of humor! Great local place nestled among academia(Brown, RISD, Johnson and Wales…)!

Yeah, there is a reason this bar has only 3.5 stars. 1. 2 mixed drinks were $ 17.50 2. They said my husbands Bombay sapphire was the same price as my Bacardi. 3. Way way way over priced. 4. Stinks like a musty old basement. I Remember why i hadn’t been there in over a year. Won’t be back.

i have been going to this pub for many years. i am usually in there before the night crowd so it is calm and quiet. just the way i like it. i am currently on my 4th card. if they have some the best jerky i’ve had. the bottle beer selection is always interesting. also there are now revolving taps so the draft selection is always good. there is no kitchen but you can order/pick up a pizza locally for enjoyment with your beer. i recommend this pub.

Not a bad spot had some OK beers. But there was no information on the beer list to explain about the beer. Their was not too many people in their but it was still early. College season is out. Will I go back yea I would.

I’ve been here a dozen times over the past four years or so, and never have I felt any great impetus to return. Sure they have a terrific beer selection, but in this day and age many bars do. To me this place represents an odd no man’s land between places I genuinely despise and the few establishments I truly enjoy.

Not my favorite place in the world… although there are a lot worse places to grab a beer. It’s a dive(which I am not opposed to at all) but it’s just a bit too much. For one thing… it smells inside. I would say the people behind the bar are a little bit rude at times… although they are never malicious in nature. One thing that I will say is they have a great beer menu. They always have great options in bottles and on draught. The thing is… the beer is good, but the atmosphere in which you enjoy it is just as important to me. Wickenden Pub doesn’t strike me in a way that makes me want to enjoy myself. Instead I am busy pulling my hand free from the sticky tables or waiting copious amounts of time at the bar waiting to be served. With a little more effort, Wickenden could be a real gem. Until that happens, I will be going to the Point which is right down the street.

I’m not a fan of dive bars, and I honestly didn’t expect to get the dive bar vibe… until I entered. The bathroom was… just completely awful. The décor is pretty, nice dark wood, but the bathroom was just completely awful. Did I mention the bathroom was completely awful? Pricey for a dive bar as well, but my friend insisted on going, so we went. Dark, damp, and yeah, the bathroom was completely awful.

Fun place. Beer club(99 beers!) Good amount of people during the week at night too! Though, my drink price was a tad high in my opinion.

The dive destination of the east side and beyond. Dark, seasoned, graffiti’d and carved into a must-visit beer cellar for any dive enthusiast. If you’re like me and prefer a massive beer selection and a barstool, this place is for you. The interior is absolutely drool-worthy for divebar enthusiasts. Having just moved back from Boston, spots like these are such a deliciously hidden breath of fresh air to my previously unfulfilled dive-thirsty palate. Overall dark with old wooden tables, booths, and upholstery. Your standard table will be carved(yes, with a knife) and tagged with graffiti, while the bar is a nicely finished dark woodgrain. If you’re a guy, you’ll enjoy the hilarity on the bathroom walls. The darts, TV and jukebox crew are all present and accounted for as well. The back patio is a fenced in area completely covered in a painted mural and situated around a few benches and a small fish pond(yup). As I mentioned approximately 815 characters ago, the beer selection is an absolute haven. The beer club list alone has 99 beers, and that’s not counting the seasonals that make their way in and out of our mugs and our hearts. The bartenders here are awesome and give the place the neighborhood feel and know-how that a joint like this should undoubtably possess. Almost equally as killer is the selection of mugs and glassware. This is the only place I know of in the area where you can hoist up a massive german litre-style mug of your favorite draft libation. They also serve in the awesome yet increasingly rare dimple mugs, as well as yardstick glasses(for the adventurous type or those phobic of handles). If you plan on getting your beer fix at this joint, make sure you sign up for a beer club card. If you stumble your way through all 99 beers, your drunken conquests will be forever emblazoned on a ‘Wall of Shame’ plaque. Get here and hoist one.

Still an ok bar but not that they are open later the raffle night on Thursday starts an hour later(1st raffle at 11:45pm and the second 12:45am). This has totally changed the crowd which used to be nice a mix of college kids and adults. Now only college kids(with their 11am classes the following morning) can stay up that late on a Thursday night. And what happens when you are only filled with college kids, it gets realllllly loud. Unpleasantly loud on Thursday nights. Still good prizes though and the draft beer selection is still decent. But if you want a pint, make sure to ask for a pint because the normal glass is a giant 20oz mug.

Join the beer club This is a great little spot. The place is dark, not the biggest pub but i’ve never had a problem finding a seat. they also have an outdoor patio which is nice one a beautiful day/night. The bartenders know their stuff ask them anything if you need help about which beverage you want. Their beer selection is amazing, tons of really good beers to choose from. They dont have a kitchen but you can bring in your own food which is dope. Stop by Fellini pick up some pizza and get your butt down to Wickenden Pub for some good beer to wash it all down with.

I am a fan of dark bars. I am a fan of many, many beers. I have gotten black eyes and sweaty from years of punk shows and don’t mind being in places that smell less than lovely and packed with humanity. I am not a massive fan of the Wickenden Pub. If I wanted to drink in a dark damp place I could shut of my lights and dehumidifier with a mix a six. I just don’t find this place all that appealing. The beers are overpriced in my opinion and I don’t care for the glassware, either. Anytime someone suggests here I quickly divert to the point or hot club. Maybe once I move out of my current abode this place will have more cool and kooky underground appeal.

If the bartender was friendly I might have a slightly different impression of this bar. Maybe is because I’m a chick. The beer selection is impressive, but since the miserable bartender was impatiently waiting for me to make a selection, I’ve ended up with a 20oz beer that isn’t great. I’m sitting here looking at a beer that would be much more delicious, but there’s no way I’m staying for another!

When I first started coming to the Wickenden about 8 years ago, I came for the beer. Their selection is undeniably great. While lately it’s become fashionable for bars and restaurants to offer more and more craft beers, no one comes close to the Wick’s 99 beers, some 20 of which are rotating taps. While my thirst for a unique brew brought me here, two things have kept me coming to the Wickenden. The first is the unique crowd this place unfailingly draws — on any given night, you’ll run into Brown students, east side hipsters, fellow craft beer enthusiasts, and random locals. The second is the atmosphere and sense of community this place fosters. Sure, it’s a dingy, dark bar, but it’s *your* dingy, dark bar. You’ll be hard pressed not to strike up a conversation with someone in a neighboring stool or with one of the Wick’s legendary bartenders. Legend has it that, on the night of his inauguration, the party at the White House got so out of hand that President Andrew Jackson snuck out a window, walked over to the inn he had been staying at, and had a few drinks at a nearby bar. The Wickenden Pub is the kind of place I imagine Jackson went to.

Wickenden Pub is my definition of what a dive bar should be, 5 lights in the place, tables that have been craved into time and time again and some of the finest bathroom graffiti you can find in Providence, and not to mention they have a back patio fish pond oasis if you need to grab some fresh air. I think Wickenden Pub has one of the best personalities in the area. If you haven’t run out the door yet to go there is more! They have one of the best beer selections in the region from your well known to some you most likely haven’t heard of before. The bartenders are great and can answer any question you may have about the beers. If you are ambitious and want to try them all they have a beer club just for you. When you finish all 99 beers on the list you get a plaque on the wall! I assume you haven’t read this far since you have definitely left to head there by this time. If you haven’t go and try it out! They don’t serve food unless you want a bag of chips but you can bring food in. If you are there on Thursday you can participate in Big Ass Raffle Night and have your chance at winning all of the finest things from bumper stickers and apparel to fish in a bottle and VIP passes to the Foxy! Overall a relaxing and unique to grab a beer!

5 stars for a dive bar. Nothing like a good dive bar that has that slight urine smell. The only issue is the prices. There should be some more cheaper drink options. A few buddies go tie one on and it’s going to run a bill over 100 bucks. Another plus is that you call order pizza from Fellini’s Pizza and they will deliver it into the bar. If you like shit hole bars, which I do, this one is a winner. Just bring more then 20 dollars with you. Thanks

I don’t come here nearly as often as I would like to. The atmosphere is complete dive bar, but not in the way that you feel you might get stabbed if you look at someone the wrong way. The booth tables haven’t been replaced since I don’t know when, and have carvings of the names of the many, many people that have sat there before me. I am a wimp when it comes to beer, and always get a coors light or a rolling rock, and since there is no rolling rock there– coors light it is! I am told that they have a good beer selection, but like I said, I’m a wimp. Totally recommend this place.

Nice bar. Has a dive feel but a fantastic beer selection. From what I can tell it stays fresh as they don’t buy tons of rare beers just to let them get stale. I had a few random selections that tasted great. Thursday is raffle night and is very popular.
