I dont know how this place has so many positive reviews. Service is horrible, you have to sit there and watch the servers argue with the cooks. Theres barely any space, the wait is horrible. I found hair in my food last time i was there, the got«mama» for me, who seemed to be the lady in charge, and she said«well, we can clean everything». Not even an apology. That was so gross. Although their food indeed very good(when is clean) is mot worth the bad service.

We came to OV’s as my boyfriend wanted grits. Its hard to find a place that serves them. We sat at the counter and no one came over to greet us nor offer coffee. Nothing. We sat there and watched the waitresses arguing with the cooks in the back over the orders. A guy waiter kept walking by but never asked if we wanted coffee. I looked at my boyfriend and said if no one comes in 2 more minutes lets leave. So we left and went to Sea Plane. Wont be back.

OV’s is one of 3 in a local family-owned chain that serves traditional American breakfast/lunch food on the cheap. This location is a diner car in a sort of desolate industrial nowhere-ville located within skipping distance of the recycling port and some strip clubs. When I visited, the cook/son of the owner was there, in a chatty mood with the funny servers and had all sorts of interesting things to talk about, including why there was a Johnson and Wales dressed teddy bear in a fancy frame on the wall(the cook’s buddy framed his 3 J&W degrees. The teddy bear was proud of his tasty academic achievements). I digress, but you should know about the PANCAKES! Big, fluffy, yummy, fresh, non-greasy, inexpensive good old fashioned pancakes that bonus points for me you can order in increments of 1 pancake, 2 pancakes, 3 pancakes, etc. the assumption being you can order whatever whole number of pancakes you are willing to pay for. These pancakes were bigger, better and fluffier than the cheap good pancakes at IHOP for comparison. Yum. I’ll be back for more.

Best greasy spoon joint I have found by far. This place doesn’t hide what it is but everything is done right. Home made gravy! Everything done with care and made to order including gravy, home fries, and grits. My kind of place.

Easy to get to off 95, but don’t be fooled by the ugly exterior and simple interior. The staff is sweet, prompt and delivers great food! Went here for brunch with a friend and had delicious omelettes, home fries, diner coffee and a great time catching up. There is a $ 10 minimum for credit cards, breakfast for both of us was under $ 20.

5 star omelets, fish tacos are to die for, I tried the alfredo pasta with shrimp and chicken, and many more items. Never disappointed. Of course you can’t talk about OVs without talking about mama. She’s one hard working, ultra talented lady. easy 5 stars.

OV’s may not be fancy, but holy smokes is it good. The coffee is always hot, servers are always attentive, and the regulars are always happy. I like to come here on weekday mornings and sit at the bar, watching the news and debating current events with the others there. Since OV’s opens at five, it’s the perfect option for when you wake up too early and your usual place isn’t open. Yes, it’s tucked away on Allens Ave., but no matter. Make the five-minute drive. This no-fuss diner has amazing omelettes but my current obsession is the breakfast pot pie — two biscuits with gravy and corned beef hash, topped with two eggs and cheese. Oh, and you get their amazing homefries, too. Get a coffee and you’re still below ten bucks before tax — not too bad!

Just tried this for the first time and it was great. Had a London Times omelet(ham, broccoli & cheddar), which is my usual go to omelet. I’ve come to find that a lot of breakfast joints don’t have broccoli, which makes it hard to get what I want a lot. Needless to say it was nice that OV’s not only had it but had a name for the omelet itself. Speaking of omelets, they have a page long list full of tasty sounding options(I am definitely going back to try the pulled pork omelet they have on the list btw). I also shared a grilled corn muffin(which I also order at a lot of places) that was very good and one of the better ones I’ve had recently. Service was quick and extremely friendly, kept our coffee cups nice and full and were helpful to bring over anything extra we needed. All that being said the main reason I gave this place a try(besides all the good Unilocal reviews of course) was it’s convenient location right off I-95. I was heading north towards Providence and needed this to be a quicker stop so I wanted to avoid venturing to far off the highway. That benefit added with a decent amount of parking and the great quality of the food makes OV’s a great breakfast spot.

Drinks took 10 minutes to just put in they don’t do well if there is a line. They are yelling at each other in front of customers very slow service. Took another 5 to put order in then another 30 + to get our food I was the first to order and mine came out last mine was the easy one too

Five star cooking is the name of the game here. The food is made from scratch. You can taste it in every bite from the sausage gravy to the meatloaf. The service is top notch to boot. This place puts other diners(and a number of Providence high end restaurants to shame… Cough, cough Siena).

The service here is absolutely lovely. They are very friendly and accommodating. The place itself doesn’t look like much, but I think that’s it’s appeal. It’s sort of divey with a mixture of old portraits, odd animal statues, and witty diner humor. So far the food has been spot on everytime. They perfect poach their eggs, their grits are creamy and filling, and their biscuits are griddles just right. The cat fish special was okay I felt as though the fish was a little dry and the beans tasted like they were bushes baked beans. Those are my only gripes and they are minor. I would suggest forgetting the actual menu and ordering from their specials. They are reasonably priced and serve you a pretty hefty portion. I would recommend this place to anyone that has a jones for consistently good diner food and the perfect hometown ambiance. Don’t forget their pancakes too!

I’ve been to Ov’s several times. It’s delicious. On a Saturday or Sunday morning when it’s crowded, it can be confusing on who is your server. They tend to just all check in on you. The beverage service can be really slow too. The food is really good. It doesn’t take that long really for your food to come out. I’ve had pancakes and french toast from there and of course chocolate milk. They servers can have an attitude but it’s kinda the charm of the place. There’s plenty of parking even though it may not look like it. They also take debit/credit cards.

My girlfriend and I had passed by this restaurant quite a few times, and we always wanted to see why the parking lot was always crowded. After reading some Unilocal reviews we wanted to try it out for ourselves because we want to find a new breakfast place. We found out why it’s always crowded it’s because it takes 45 minutes to an hour for you to just get served. they took our order and it took over 45 minutes for the food to come out, waffles and an omelette either one of those types of want to cook andmy girlfriends waffle was completely an edible and my omelette came out eight minutes after she’d already been given the waffle. We complain to the waitress about the waffle being an edible and another waitress brought the same waffle back and couldn’t understand that it just didn’t taste good. My girlfriend and I both tasted it and it taste like cardboard and it just was not edible. Poor service and not so good food is what we would say. On the receipt it says you can’t spell love without OVwell I have to say they have no love in what they do and the food they make nor the service.

The location here is on the sketchy side and, to be honest, for the longest time I thought it might be a mob front because you’d pull off the highway exit and it would always be closed or open at odd/inconsistent hours or there would be a closed sign posted in the window and people would be parked out front anyways. At least, that was the impression driving by. I finally got a chance to go for breakfast, and I’m glad I did. It’s tiny, cramped, weirdly decorated, and filled with some off-color locals, but the food is hot and good and affordable. I’m mostly indifferent to home fries, but theirs are buttery and well seasoned and just plain good. I had the corned beef hash benedict and it was really good. Their corned beef hash is definitely homemade, not from a can, and the hollandaise is equally well done. I ate everything in front of me. I want to go back and try more or maybe even catch lunch sometime. The specials board they have posted on the side of the road is always enticing to me. I’m glad I satisfied my curiosity with OV’s!

I think the people reviewing negatively have wayyyy too high of expectations from a small, family operated breakfast place. If you want food with«more flavor» or «prompt service», go downtown or IHOP where they’ll give you shitty food in half the time. OV’s is honestly my favorite breakfast place that I’ve been to in providence. Their pancakes, French toast, and waffles are simply awesome. I don’t eat eggs so I have no opinion on them, but people I have gone with have said that their omelets and egg sandwiches are just as good! Also have gone there for lunch but only once or twice… and their burgers are very good. Being from jersey, I’m used to this diner style type of food and OV’s does it well!

Well my experience at OV was a good, but interesting one. The waiter came over, followed by this lady. He was really nice and doing a fine job, but this lady, whom might have been an/the owner followed his every move. I guess he’d been working there for a while, but was new to taking orders. This same lady shouted demands at the kitchen, from the kitchen and whoever. The food was good. It’s a nice breakfast place. We came in at around 8am on a Friday and it wasn’t busy at all. I got an apple juice and it came in the biggest glass, which I highly appreciated. Most places serve juice in these tiny glasses, so it was a nice change. I got a simple breakfast. Pancakes, sausage, home fries and apple juice. It was all good. Prices were decent as well. The place we wanted to go to was closed, so this was a good alternative. There’s some sketchy parking and this place is seriously tiny. Not sure what the peak hours are and haven’t tried anything else but breakfast. Place closes at 3pm. So breakfast and lunch only.
