This place had some ok sushi and good dim sum. However, it is now closed for renovations and will be reopening as something else entirely. The business license has been transferred to a «La Mei Hot Pot».

I give 3 stars for the dim sum, the friendly service, and cleanliness. I had a shrimp tempura roll also, it was quite disappointing. It didn’t taste like the tempura shrimp was freshly made, it was just like they had some extra laying around premade and threw it into the roll. But the dim sum was really good, so if you go here I suggest you go with that.

General Tso’s is actually white meat and delicious! Drinks are the cheapest and strong and delicious. This is my new go-to, LOVE it.

This place is an absolute go to for my friends and I. The best service that you will find just about anywhere. Yen and his family/employees will make you feel like family, and they always remember you and greet you warmly every time you come back in. Scorpion bowls are perfect, and I am someone who finds that there is never enough alcohol in any of my drinks, anywhere. The Sushi is good, dim sum is good. The Fried Ice Cream is soooo good. I love this place, I’m sure it is a second home to many others as well.

I can’t rave enough about Phoenix Dragon. My husband and I enjoy coming here a few times a month. The owner knows us by now and says«welcome home!» Whenever we go there. We always feel comfortable there. Scorpion bowls are worth trying although my husband and I aren’t big on drinking. The sushi is to die for. I can’t find anywhere else that the sushi is just this fresh and tasty. They have over 40 varieties of sushi. They are always well garnished and the plates always have animals carved out of carrots. This is my favorite Chinese place around for some quality food and service.

My bias wants to rate this restaurant four stars for providing scorpion bowls within walking distance of my apartment. It’s a solid three. The pros: Great mood, good staff, very chipper host, tidy bathrooms, incredible drinks. A great first stop for a rowdy night of scorpion bowling. The cons: Oh, the food. It’s the most meh sushi in the city. Nothing to write home about. The Chinese cuisine has this bizarre texture that can only be described as a mix between the burnt crunchy tips of a good kabob and the soggy residue of a microwaved fish finger. Some people love it. Some people seem to hate it. I’m allergic to gluten anyway, so I stick to the nime chow, sushi, and the scorpion bowls.

After reading many mixed reviews, we waited to try this place. We ended up coming for a Saturday lunch. We had a nice meal, the 6 – 7 dim sum items that we ordered were all made to order, fresh tasting and piping hot. I actually enjoy suburban dim sum more than big city as they tend to be less heavy handed with some of the seasonings.(some seem to overdo it with ginger or cilantro) The non dim sum items we ordered for our table were all above average. I would definitely go back.

Great service. Very friendly. First time customer. I got two orders of sushi and a small wonton soup to go. Prices are very reasonable. Spicy tuna roll was great! If I wasn’t so busy,(and full) I’d run back for more. Defiantly will go back for a sit down dinner and will probably order lunch again tomorrow.

We went out for Mai Tai’s and appetizers and thought that Phoenix Dragon would be a good choice. I wish it was. The décor is nice but the waitress who made our Mai Tai drinks should stick to serving food… they were awful, bright red, no rum and no resemblance to any Mai Tai I’ve ever seen. We ordered Chicken Teriayki appetizer which was giant, but lacked finesse and had a bottled sauce poured on it. We stopped there and headed out to find better. I wish that the woman from Restaurant Redemption would visit this restaurant because it could be excellent.

Probably my favorite Asian restaurant. The staff is super friendly and prompt. It’s really clean and the food is awwweesoommee! The crab rangoons and general tao chicken are my faves. The drinks are strong AND cheap!(Win win) The whole menu is affordable. You can dine in obviously and they thankfully do take out, no delivery though. I wish they would start! Love this place

Great Japanese and Chinese food with out the fancy prices. Phoenix Dragon has amazing food, sushi, and scorpion bowls. They serve fried wonton chips with sauce when you sit down and have great service. The carrots in the shape of animals is the icing on an already well made and prepared dish. I’ve never been let down.

After my favorite dim sum place changed ownership and stopped serving dim sum, I have been on the hunt for a replacement. We went in on Saturday with the kids and it was pretty early, ~5:30pm. There was no one there. The service was prompt and friendly and the dim sum was pretty good, not amazing, but it will suffice when I get a craving. The one thing I didn’t like is that everything was a bit salty in general. Not sure if they make their sauces with regular soy sauce instead of the low sodium, but other than that the flavors were good. The steamed pork buns were tasty and I also got a shrimp tempura roll to try it out. I would come back again to try more things on the menu.

The staff at Phoenix dragon really outdid themselves tonight. As soon as we were seated an overflowing bowl of fried wontons were set down along with the customary orange sauce(maybe duck sauce? I’m not entirely familiar with items in sweet sauces as they are not my preference). My best friend wanted something fruity and frozen to drink and the waitress was able to help her pick out the most flavorful drink on the menu that would meet those requirements, the Frozen Love Punch. The Frozen Love Punch was made with frozen fruit, it wasn’t made of crushed ice, fruit and liquor so it was a higher quality drink. I went with my usually Singapore Sling, which packed quite a wallop of grenadine.. Also, all of the tiki drinks are $ 5 – 6 and provide a nice punch. We started with soup, hot and sour for me, and egg drop for her. They let us put in an order for the soup while we were still debating our sushi choices. Man, that hot and sour soup was HOT. I should have asked for a glass of water before eating it, I was nice and flushed afterwards but my mouth wasn’t on fire. Please watch the chopping of the ingredients, the cloud ear fungus(aka a mushroom) wasn’t chopped thoroughly and when I picked it up with my spoon I thought it was a small squid or octopus and kind of got freaked out. I am not sure if this soup is vegetarian or not, while there were no pieces of meat and no shellfish, I am not sure if its made with chicken broth or not. My best friend’s egg drop soups seemed to be solely comprised of egg and chicken broth, no scallions or tofu. We made a pact to get something entirely different than we normally do today. She went with the lobster roll, and a specialty roll that was essentially a california roll with eel added into it, and then topped with spicy tuna. I went with the Christmas roll and the kamikaze. I didn’t try her rolls due to an allergy, but the christmas roll was nice with its array of tuna and crunchy little massago coating, to my surprise they concocted it with red sushi rice. THe kamikaze was smooth, with white rice, avocado, tuna, yellowtail and a hint of spice. The waitress and owner were constantly filling my glass of water and even joked with me about how much of it I was drinking. As always they were extremely accommodating and weren’t even upset when we ordered a roll for Kay to bring home to her mom as a surprise. Plates were cleared quickly, soup was up fast, and they weren’t upset that we were being pokey talking over our meals and drinks. There was a loud party in the back and they even profusely apologized that we were going to have to wait a bit for our sushi and offered to get us more wontons and sauce.

I’m going to have to come here more often. Super cheap drinks that pack a wallop, super cheap food that tastes great and is plentiful and of course, good service. The interior is plain but very comfortable and various pop songs have been turned into Asian style mixes. Quirky good fun.

While visiting my girlfriend in RI, we were craving for some Dim Sum. I stumbled upon the Phoenix Dragon while Unilocaling. I read through some reviews and decided to try it out. I was a bit skeptical at first going in since their name was«Pheonix Dragon» but decided to give it a shot. Walking in décor is about as dated as a typical old-school Chinese restaurant that serves the typical Beef & Broccoli and General Tso’s Chicken. The had old Chinese music playing in the background such as 新鸳鸯蝴蝶梦. Service was decent on par with most Asian restaurants I usually partake in. The staff is capable of speaking Mandarin and Cantonese. Now to the food. They had the typical selection of tea for Dim Sum such as Po-lei(Pu-er in Mandarin), Gok Fah(Chrysanthemum), etc which was great. However, this is where it goes down hill and should have went with my intuition. We ordered a variety of typical Dim Sum platters such as Cha Xiu Bao, Xiu Mai, etc, etc. The Cha Xiu Bao was not fresh. I can easily taste the contents of the refrigerator inside their pork. The Xiu Mai had a very heavy fatty taste to it, a sign that low quality fatty meat was used. The special item I was craving that you can’t screw up was the Zha Leurng(Fried Chinese Donut wrapped with Rice Noodle). I’m sad to report that Zha Leurng was awful. The Chinese Donut portion was too chewy, the Rice Noodle was flavorless, and the accompanied sauce was literally just Kimlan Soy Sauce. If there was an award for«Best Restaurant — Screws Up Authentic Food», this restaurant wins hands down. Never again shall I visit this restaurant looking for Chinese food.

This is my favorite place in the state to get Chinese food. Everything tastes fresh and delicious. They’re priced really well and the waitstaff is so friendly and welcoming. Only thing that would make it better is if they delivered!

Excellent Chinese food, great service. Décor is clean, spacious, and attractive. Good parking in their ample private lot. They also serve Japanese, and one of our party had some pretty good sushi. The other four of us chose from the Chinese menu — I tried salt baked Octopus, which turned out to be the most tender octopus I’ve had, but my learning was that I don’t care for«salt baked.» Other dishes on the table whose names I didn’t begin to know included a deliciously sauced dish of baby bok choy and mushrooms; little dumplings with a sauce to take the top of your head off, just as it was supposed to; shrimp and broccoli which went beyond the mundane. A charming touch was the teeny carved carrot creature on each plate — frog, ibis, alligator, and most complex, a shrimp with wee eyes. Service was beyond good, and the whole staff was very friendly, making us feel like they really cared about us and wanted us to return to their home. When I’m back in Providence(probably next June), I will be making a point of dining again at the Phoenix Dragon.
