I really loved the views and the gorgeous layout of the bar. The bartenders didn’t exactly know what was on tap which we found a little frustrating to say the least. Perhaps they could have a cute chalkboard like downstairs of all the options?

Came here one night late in the summer for a friends birthday. It was a gorgeous night and a rooftop bar in Providence is a pretty cool idea. The view from the bar is nice. The weather and the view were the highlight of the experience. We were a decent size group nothing huge. My wife and I ordered wings and a pizza to split. Both were good but for what you got it was expensive. The drinks were also very expensive. To end off the evening, they lost one of my friend’s credit cards and took about 30 minutes for them to find it. When they returned with the card, they had ran it and she did not even get an apology for the wait or losing it. With so many great bars and restaurants in Providence, we will most likely not be back.

Didn’t eat anything just had drinks. They had nothing for Bourbon or Whiskey to choose from. Very limited selection but was told that they had a very busy weekend and waiting for a new shipment of liquor. Don’t know if I should believe them but I’ll see next time. The waitress was very helpful and tried her best to find me a drink.

Great atmosphere. That’s the reason people go, especially during sunset. And keep in mind that is what you’re paying for. Perfect place for drinks and appetizers. They keep the area very clean and the hosts are quick to gauge for available tables and wait times. Be forewarned, lunch, dinner, and late night vibes change drastically. I’ve been there for lunch, early dinner during sunset, and very often late night for drinks. If you go at night, they do hit capacity sometimes, so arrive a little earlier than 10 to not wait in line for the elevator. Most Servers were good and attentive when they weren’t busy. I’ve had some catty servers, but the really good servers I’ve had make up for them since I go quite often. If I notice a bad attitude from the server, I just politely move to the bar to save myself the aggravation and ruined meal experience. So I hope people do the same and not let flustered servers ruin it. Quality of ingredients are decent. I wish they had more items on their menu, but their food is prepared fairly. I often get wine, but they do a great job with their Old Fashions. Their calamari could be seasoned better, but the olives and medley of peppers make up for it. I order it every time. Their baby octopus and pork belly dish is delicious. I would have preferred my octopus grilled a little under and the pork belly cooked a bit more(crispy outside but a bit undercooked inside) but the sauces adorning them were yummy. Jumbo Shrimp cocktails were cooked perfectly. Pizza was crispy and the cheese melted just right, but it’s hit or miss sometimes with some of their pizzas. Overall food, atmosphere, and service is great for this rooftop bar.

After hearing all the hype and reading various reviews, finally had a chance to check out Rooftop @ Providence G. Unfortunately, based on my experience at the bar, I have to agree with a majority of the lackluster assessments that this place is definitely quite the disappointment. Upon arriving on the roof, I was initially impressed with the nice layout and the incredible views(I would give the ambiance and views alone 5 stars). We were lucky enough to snag some seats at the bar and took a look at the drink menu(didn’t get a chance to try any of the food). Upon first glance, the drink offerings(specifically the beers) were less than appealing and ended up settling for a Cisco Wales Tale ale. Mixed drink prices were high and for the downstairs G-Pub offering so many great craft beers, I was disappointed to see a small and very standard offering of canned selections up on the roof. As I expected it was busy up there that night and the bartenders seemed to be all over the place trying to take orders, so it made it difficult at times to get the attention of ours. I really wish this place was better well put together… while the views and setting itself are great, higher than average prices, bland beer selection and service being less than stellar, I find it difficult to see myself frequenting or coming back to this bar anytime soon.

I was very excited when I learned that my job would be hosting a post training cocktail hour here. I knew that drinks would be pricey since it’s a roof top bar, so basically there was no way I was coming here unless someone else was footing the bill. The waitress was kind enough to tell me which one out of the Prosecco and the Moscato was less sweet(the info fails me now) and I stuck with that all evening. A really nice drink to sit in the hot sun with. Sadly there were not enough umbrellas to protect our whole group from the pounding rays, but having alcohol and sunblock on hand made me quickly forget about it.
The reason for the two stars is the food. I was really hopeful because I noticed that they have tomato and herb plants on the roof so I figured this place might pump out some great flavors. Being a vegetarian limited me to the Margarita pizza, stuffed peppers and some Mozzarella tomato skewers. The former was ok, but someone spilled their drink on it soon after it was set down and we never got a new one(because we were a big party all apps kept coming out of the kitchen once they were eaten up). The skewers were pretty bogus. The tomatoes lacked flavor, the balsamic reduction was weak, and the dusting of crumbs seemed like it was intended to add texture, but really it just made it seem like they rolled on the floor and were then put on the plate. The stuffed peppers could have been good, but the three I ate didn’t have any goat cheese in them, so boo to that. The carnists in my group also had sliders and the shaved sirloin pizza, but the overall consensus was that everything was way to spicy. Rooftop bars are definitely a special thing to lots of folks, so it’s great that Providence now offers one. For myself though the view is not enough to excuse the expensive drinks and bland food.

What a beautiful location! Siting above PVD with a nice breeze and a cocktail is truly a new expeirence in downtown. The décor is European/Miami, unfortunately the price is too. The service is slow, very slow. I have been here twice giving them a second chance to work out the kinks, but I would not recommend eating or drinking here if you want to be served promptly. The food was delicious but it was gone in two bites, forget sharing any apps at the table. I hope they can work on the service and menu, I really would like to visit again.

I really wanted to give Rooftop @ Providence G at least 4 stars, but I just can’t do it based on my first and probably last experience having dined here this past Saturday for a friend’s birthday. I called early in the week to make a reservation for 10; the girl on the phone had to take my information twice and then at the end of the conversation asks for my credit card in case we don’t give them 48 hours notice to cancel so they can charge $ 50 a head. Yup, $ 500. I don’t think so. This information was relayed to the birthday boy and as it turned out, there were going to be only 9 of us, so he called to make a reservation. Well, they don’t take them for a party less than 10. Ok fine. We arrived @ 8 p.m. on Saturday night and parked using the complimentary valet; great perk. Upon taking an elevator ride up 6 flights of stairs, we arrived at Rooftop. The hostess, after she poorly answered some of our questions and I finally had to say in a very slow voice: «How do we get a table to sit down and eat?» Wow. They pulled 2 tables together for us and off we went. Our waiter, and I can’t remember his name, was fairly pleasant but for good portion of the night, was hard to find. Don’t get me wrong, it was quite busy, but that’s not my problem. After looking at the menu for about 120 seconds, yes, it’s that’s small, my friend and I decided to split the Margherita pizza and a field greens salad. There are a handful of appetizers, a couple of salads, a couple of entrees and four or so pizzas. The food was okay, but nothing to write home about. Friends ordered the Duck Nuggets and weren’t impressed. I can see this place being a great spot for a couple of drinks at dusk on a date or out with friends. It was mostly a younger crowd, with a few older parties here and there. A lovely couple had gotten married that afternoon and were taking photographs all around; it was quite beautiful. I truly loved being up high and seeing all of the DownCity buildings so intimately.

This review is for lunch only — I have yet to brave my way to the Rooftop for evening drinks or dinner, so take this review for what it is. First things first, the place is gorgeous. I mean, it’s beautiful — clearly very close attention was paid to the aesthetics and it pays off. Teak furniture, sleek lines, wood on white on white. It adds to the airy, «I’m on a roof!» appeal and I have to say, I like it. Sure it’s the only rooftop bar in downtown Providence, and while the view may not be as breathtaking as one you’d find in San Francisco or Boston, it’s pretty cool for PVD. Secondly, The Rooftop seems to take itself very seriously. A dress code is established before you even set foot in the elevator by very visible signage. There are rules, and if you cannot abide by them then you needn’t even bother trying to get in to spend your money. This ain’t no dive bar, baby. I found the staff to be lovely — the hostess immediately acknowledged me and sat me upon arrival, and one my friend joined me at the table the server greeted us. She was absolutely wonderful — super helpful, accommodating to my friends’ gluten-free requests and eager to help me find the perfect pizza for myself. In all sincerity, she was the highlight of my visit… She even outshone the décor :). As for the food, it’s ok. It’s not spectacular, it’s not creative, but it’s fine. I had the tuna crudo, which was fresh and beautiful but lacked seasoning and citrus, and the steak tip pizza, which was pretty good but could have used a little something extra to kick it in the pants a bit(again, seasoning). All in all, it was enjoyable and I’d do it again, just request some salt, pepper and limes. For a lunch spot, The Rooftop will do just fine.

It is my understanding that at high elevations the human body needs time to adjust to the lower oxygen content in the air. The lower oxygen content can cause fatigue and in some case cause even the simplest of tasks to be both mentally and physically challenging. Including getting a vodka tonic from a bar located 20ft from our table in under 30 minutes. Oh it was a fun time. I would like to note that our server did state that he had tables on all four corners of the roof and as I prior server I empathize with the fact that sometimes your section can play a huge role in keeping you both in the weeds & totally frustrated. The kitchen though… the Mediterranean pizza was just plan bad. A pizza topped with roasted vegetables implies that the vegetables are in fact roasted prior to being placed on the pizza. If not, you end up with baked vegetables which are dry and totally inedible. I would have complained but really I am getting the impression that this place is struggling and that they are well aware of their short comings but either thru lack the desire or the ability to fix it. They know they have the best view in the city and so what if people just drink their calories — the real money isn’t in the kitchen anyway. Just try to get your main profit center to put a drink out quickly and efficiently. Eat well Providence… then go have a long slow drink on the roof.

Lunch for two. $ 170, including tip. Pricey. 7 cocktails. Calamari, so-so. Duck nuggets with plumb ketchup — almost recommended — needed seasoning. Chicken wings — moist and off the chart delicious. Pizza — red onion, roasted red pepper, Manchego with zucchini and chorizo — wow! Great view. Worth the price, maybe
