Nice sandwich, soup, salad and decent collection of beers as well.

Not bad and I learned a new word«dank». I had the white trash which was good. My daughter had the chip one which in my opinion sounded great but was just«ok». It reminds me a bit of a fast food place but be prepared to wait a bit for your order even with few people there it took about 15 minutes to get two grilled cheese. I’d go again but with more places like this opening up there are better grilled cheese sandwich options out there.

This place is surprisingly good. Like I dont know why the menu and the name just kind of made me feel very eh about the place but now I think I have it once a week. Their Wicked sandwich is my ABSOLUTE favorite. The apple adds a perfect like of crispness to it and the sauce itself is wonderful full of flavor. They have some pretty good salads as well such as the Greek salad which is my preference. Its good for vegetarians because they have quite a few options and you can customize their listed ones and do substitutes if you want. I have never gotten the chance to actually sit at the venue because normally I do carry out but I recommend the former because they have a wide selection of local beers and sodas. Plus it’ll be more fresh and off course thats always preferable. This place definitely doesn’t get enough credit for how good the food is so I would highly recommend checking it out.

Things you need to know about UMelt: their mac ‘n’ cheese is phenomenal, and you definitely want some of it. You may even want to add a little of their hot sauce to it, because it just takes you there. The other thing you need to know about is their BBQ Pork. You’re just insane(or you don’t eat pork) if you don’t get it. It’s tender, flavorful, juicy, sweet, savory, subtly spicy and absolute perfection between two pieces of perfectly-griddled bread. I can’t even tell you how good it is, so you’ll just have to experience it for yourself. You should also try The Wicked, which is a slightly healthier option brimming with turkey, apples, caramelized onions and a wicked good sauce(hence the name, me thinks?) that’s just dripping in havarti cheese. It’s gooooooooooreous. UMelt is a teensy little shop tucked into a block on Weybosset next to The Arcade. Blink, and you might miss it(that would just be tragic). The staff is friendly and cheerful, there’s a cool little photo booth thing to play with while you wait for your food, and you’re just as welcome to grab a seat and enjoy yourself right there as you are to take it with you when you leave. Just don’t forget their dessert melties!* *Yes, you read that right.

Bit disappointed in the taste but nonetheless it was pretty good, especially the crisp of the sandwich. It’s an average sized place in Providence with friendly workers. I got the«White Trash» and I expected it to be cheesier. It’s mac and cheese with pulled pork. Taste was more like the sauce that came with it — tangy — which I did not expect. The crisp on the sandwich was phenomenal and I enjoyed it each bite. Overall, I’ll come back to try other things on their menu especially since they’re not too expensive.

I’ve been to Umelt a little under 10 times this school year. Umelt is a gem. Fun atmosphere and fierce food. I’ve had the pizza grilled cheese, the Chipster(BBQ chips and bacon), and the White Trash(Pulled pork and Mac & Cheese). The White Trash is my current favorite! There’s Gluten free and vegan options as well as desserts. Great soup and combos(chips or cookie). Also, I was in there one day and SKA music was playing. Nothing beats chowing on a Mac and cheese/pulled pork sandwich hearing Reel Big Fish and Streetlight Manifesto. When I move out of RI this month, I will miss Umelt the most!

I got the buff chick and the chipster. Both absolutely delicious but if I had to choose between the two, I’d go with the buff chick. The cheese is really really good and the bread is both soft and crispy! The buff chick could be a bit hotter(temperature wise) but it’s so good, you may just eat it without letting it even cool down! Their yacht club soda also has a distinct taste to its craft soda! Don’t even get me started on how friendly their customer service is! Greeted me as if I was his neighbor right away, gave me time to explore my options and he blew my mind with square having a chip reader for credit cards.

Joe had the classic grilled cheese with bacon, macaroni and cheese. I had the Cubano grilled cheese. Both sandwiches tasted great. So many different types of grilled cheese sandwiches to choose from. They’ll even make one the way you like it.

I really enjoy this little lunch spot downtown. They have a solid variety of flavors for their girls cheese sandwiches, cookies, soup and Mac and cheese combos. They also serve a selection of local beers and sodas. Great if you have some time to sit, because everything is made fresh(even the bacon) it can take a few minutes to get your food. Staff have always been very friendly to me, it’s a nice affordable gem downtown if you’re a kid or a kid at heart who is hungry!

The mac and cheese was pretty great. But dang the combos of mac and cheese inside of sandwiches was great. Dankest sandwiches I’ve had in a long time.

The BBQ grilled cheese is top notch. I went in there not hungry and somehow ordered, sat down, and inhaled the sandwich. The design of and colors of the restaurant are fun as well.

This place is pretty awesome! It’s the Perfect little grilled cheese café. I always get the classic every time and it comes out amazing. I throw a little hot sauce on there and its outstanding:) Whenever I head into Providence I try and make my way over here. The Bathrooms could use a little updating, but other then that I love this place:)

While spending some time downtown for the Veteran’s Waterfire festivities, my friends and I decided we wanted to eat. While I love the food trucks that were there, we were looking for more of a sit down meal. As we walked from restaurant to restaurant trying to find a place that did not have at least an hour or more wait time, we decided to venture out a little more further from Waterfire. We somewhat stumbled across this place in our adventure for food and decided, what the heck… We. Are. Starving! I wasn’t sure what to expect with the name Umelt, but basically it is grilled cheese. Although, not just your classic grilled cheese, which by the way they do offer on the menu, but a variety of different grilled cheese concoctions! The inside is very small with about maybe 6 tables. Wasn’t the cleanest though I must admit. I decided to try the Tomatoes Basil sandwich which included mozzarella cheese, tomato, a nut-free basil pesto, balsamic glaze on a nicely grilled baguette. I ordered a side of macaroni and cheese as well. Overall, I was pretty happy with everything. Some of the reviews on the Mac and cheese mentioned it was soggy but i rather enjoyed mine. It was just the right amount of cheesy goodness cooked appropriately. If you are looking for a quick fast food place, m downtown, this is a great place to try.

So happy to walk by this place during my lunch break in search of a sandwich! Seriously fantastic customer service with friendly greetings and so helpful in making recommendations as to popular favorites! I had the Vermonster and it’s so delicious and yummy! Great place for a quick lunch or dinner and perfect comfort food! Can’t wait to come back!

This was not at the level that reviews made it seem. Service was good, love the pbr on draft, it did take awhile to get our order but it is because they make it fresh so I’m not sure why reviewers are made about that. I just thought the sandwiches were kind of bland for how much stuff was on them. I would not go back(i tried a few options too).

This place has a variety of grilled cheeses that are delicious! I tried the White Trash and the Wicked. Even though there are many items on these grilled cheeses they do not fall a part at all! They were both delicious, I probably like the White Trash more though because I love mac and cheese! The White Trash has mac and cheese, bbq pulled pork, cheddar cheese on sour dough. The Wicked has havarti cheese, turkey, apples, caramelized onions, wicked sauce on white. The customer service was great and the place is clean. We had the Wicked to go and it was easy to heat up. Also, the take out box was cute and had things like tic tac toe, mark the dots kinda thing! I’d definitely come back here and also to try some others!

I ate at this truck tonight during a food truck event at the park. It was crazy busy and the line was moving slowly but that seemed to be the norm tonight so I waited patiently For my grilled cheese and Mac and cheese. The grilled cheese was fab. I had one with bacon two kinds of cheese and apple. It was quite good. The bacon was crisp. Sandwich was cheesy and bread buttery. My Only dislike was the Mac and cheese. It was kind of soggy and maybe needed some Panko or bread crumbs for flavor. The prices were reasonable and if I saw them parked somewhere I’ll definetly stop and get a grilled cheese.

Went today with the boyfriend. Got two sandwiches to share, the white trash and the special of the day which had pepper jack cheese, avocado, and tomato jam. Boyfriend LOVED both. I thought they were pretty good, but the mac on the white trash wasn’t cheesy at all. The bread was cooked perfectly. The guy who helped us was awesome and the cookie was pretty good too. If you enjoy grilled cheese and are nearby you should go give this place a try. also…the melty walls were kinda neat. :)

Went here last night with the man and the pups. Outdoor seating(a few tables and chairs) was helpful as we had our dogs with us. The guys behind the counter were super friendly. I got the federal hill without sausage(vegetarian) and my boyfriend got the white trash. Mine was AMAZING. He enjoyed his as well but we both agreed it needed maybe some pickles for acidity to cut down on the cheese and BBQ flavor. I can’t fault Umelt for this but there was a deliriously intoxicated guy sitting outside yelling incoherently and making us(and everyone walking by) uncomfortable. I brought it to the attention of one of the workers and he said he must’ve come over from Aruba Steve’s and he has asked him to leave before but today he was«behaving». Definitely made me wish we hadn’t had the dogs and could’ve sat inside.

It was just OK! I had the Vermonter with cheddar cheese, bacon and grilled onions on rye. It was nice. But for $ 5.45? I asked if the price included chips? No! Pickle? No! And this was one of the least expensive options. Most of the others were $ 6.95. I can make an equally good grilled cheese at home for far less. I LOVE the concept of this place — and the variety — but the sandwich was pretty basic, just not out of the ball park. So, for value alone, I just can’t give it above 3-stars. Throw in some affordable extras — like chips or a pickle — and I’m on board. I do plan to go back, and try a different sandwich, so maybe my rating will jump up!
