This place doesn’t even deserve 1 star! Went here Friday night at around 12 with some friends and was a little unsure about the place from the outside, but still went in. We sat at the bar and there was a creepy old homeless man in the corner that kept coming in and out so that was really sketchy. Right as we got to the bar you could see that the«bartender» was stumbling and slurring her words needless to say she was drunk. After we sat there had our beers they said last call and my friends and I had FULLBEERS which the bartender decided to grab out of our hands and throw out after we paid for them! Like because your a drunk slob doesn’t give you the right to take the beers we paid for. Thats when her friends who were there decided they could kick us out. This bar is a waste of time and money. If you want your full beer thrown out and to be stared at by a homeless guy all night come here! Remember to shower twice when you go home!

Super good breakfast sandwich, gave it to go so I could get back to work. AND the person helping me made me a fresh pot of coffee when I walked in!

I don’t know why people are ragging on this place, I love it. The diner serves up some cheap, greasy grizzly type food and sometimes thats just what you need. Service is fast and I always feel so important when I go there.

Felt like part of the family! Tommy and his daughter Sally greeted us with warm smiles and top-notch service. The food was better than expected for a «diner-style» breakfast and the pricing was incredibly fair. Apparently Tommy has kept the same menu and prices since the 1970s. AWESOME! The coffee was great, the service was FAST and the atmosphere was friendly. This place is where the«locals» go when they want a cheap lunch or breakfast. Highly recommended if you want a low-cost breakfast that will sit well with your wallet and in your stomach. Bonus hugs when we left :)

A step into the past. Owner Tommy has been there for 52 years and he is soooo nice! The bar was your typical hole in the wall bar, but the place just has the comfortable feel and friendly and warm regulars. I was surprised to see a friend’s dad and his girlfriend. BINGO spot is what I was checking out Tommy’s for. Perfect open room next to bar to hold a bunch of «Not Your Grandma’s Bingo» event. I can’t wait! Bartender Rocks too!

What can I say, this is old school downtown eats. You want to be transported back in time… or more like frozen in time. I go here more often for lunch than I would like to admit, but they do a great job pumping out the classics like club sandwiches and burgers. They always have specials like chicken/veal parm with a veg and starch oh and a roll too. The service is the best! the two women that work the tables are there everyday and you in and out under a ½ hour. Don’t be afraid of the blue tarp over the Tommy’s Place sign outside or the décor inside just GO!

I walk in to Tommy’s Place with my Daughter for quick lunch; this place was Recommended to us by people walking around the downtown as a cheap quick eats; we order the Hamburger ¼ lb & Fish and Chip 2 sodas the Burger was frozen and dry No french fries came with it $ 3.00 price; the fish and chips were also frozen the Tartar sauce was old with dry coating on top coleslaw also; The waitress was quick but Rude; the bar was open so from the dinning room you could see all the Bottles of beer on the Table as many people drank away, One Bathroom which you have to share; the Restaurant itself was smelly, Dirty, and the Rug look it was never cleaned. I don’t recommend anyone with children eat there because of the Bar… Prices are cheap and match the Quality of the FOOD.

I rolled into Tommy’s Place at 12:45 on a Thursday, looking for a fun last bar to visit after a weird experience at a nearby club. Tommy’s fit the bill nicely. I’m not quite sure what Tommy’s Place is. It has a reasonably-sized bar, but loads of tables, a kitchen, and a long kitchen bar with coffee pots. Looks like they’re a breakfast joint or a diner during the day. The bartender was extremely friendly, and was quick to suggest places in Providence to visit(though, a bunch were in the back pages of the Providence Phoenix, if you know what I mean). The patrons were similarly cool. I think we talked to everyone in the three or four groups of people that were there in the 20 minutes we hung out. Drinks were cheap, I think we paid three to four dollars for a glass of whiskey. Nice. TVs were muted, and there was no music. The people atmosphere was fun, but I can’t say I really dug the«bar» atmosphere, it was kind of like having a night cap in your high school faculty lounge.

This is «downcity brekfist» after my own heart. Sequestered just off the street in the busy financial district, Tommy’s is gotten to by a brick walkway leading from the sidewalk. Once inside, you step down into a dimly-lit, cavernous dining area. And what food it is! Crisp-skinned, fragrant sausages; eggs cooked exactly as requested every time; Delicious coffee poured by a waitress who calls you«hon» as if it were still l958 and Elvis were on the jukebox. There’s a bar, too, and even at breakfast you’ll see colourful Providence characters sitting there, sipping coffee or what Alex Trebek calls«potent potables» while anxiously dividing their time between the TV news and the Keno screen. Good food, good prices, friendly and attentive staff, authentic atmosphere. This place is a regular stop for me.
