My gf and I ordered take-out from here recently as we saw plenty of positive reviews and an interesting menu. We aren’t vegetarian or vegan but we can always appreciate a good meal! We ordered the miso soup, Malaysian curry stew with soy protein and the mango soy protein with tofu instead of the soy protein. The miso soup wasn’t bad at all. The Malaysian curry stew was actually quite good and I really enjoyed the soy protein. The mango soy protein(with the substituted tofu) was a different story. It just wasn’t good. The tofu, which was described as extra firm tofu, was not fully cooked nor was it extra firm. It was not a particularly good dish, especially considering how good the other one was. But hey, you can’t always like everything you try, right? So we had written to them on a separate site explaining this, saying that the dish was«not what we expected.» Hours later, Veggie Fun called us regarding what we wrote. We again explained our experience. The woman, who had a snark attitude, said she’d be willing to give us $ 10 off our next meal. So we said we’d accept that and even take down the previous review and give them another shot. Instead she said, «Hold on, I have to ask the owner if I can do that. I’m not a manager.» She calls back minutes later and explains, «The owner said we can’t do that because you’re not a returning customer. But you can get a refund for the mango soy protein if you bring the food back.» Now slightly frustrated, when we asked to speak to the owner she responded, «He said I’m the manager on duty now so that’s just how it is.» So, after CALLINGUS and then OFFERING us $ 10 towards our next meal — and then quickly revoking it — we did take back the probably 1⁄8 of the meal that was left and we got our refund(of the one meal). If they never called us in the first place we probably would’ve given them another shot despite 1 subpar meal anyway. But combine that with really poor customer service we’ll probably never go back.

Love that it’s all Vegan/Vegetarian– Yes even the chocolate cake. I love their dumplings! Can’t get enough of those. Besides that, the basil sauce curry is pretty good. I usually order takeout and they’re always on time. Friendly staff.

I really enjoyed my visit to this vegan place, its nice to see the vegan cuisine starting to become more and more popular! But besides that point, i really liked the decorations, and the food is pretty good :) I had the summer rolls, spring rolls, spicy noodle soup and the mushroom miso. Service was good(i went when it was dead though). They have a decent bar. Overall I recommend this place to anyone who likes asian food.

We went here on a sleepy Sunday afternoon, but there were still about half of the booths full. The Kim chi appetizer was nice — I didn’t notice too much cilantro, the spice levels were moderate. For entrees, a Moo-Shu Fantasia, aptly named mix of delicious shiitake mushrooms, strips of cabbage, scallions and carrots. Served with four tortilla wrappers. The Malaysian Curry(stew) had a nice, slightly spicy sauce, and large amounts of soy protein strips, broccoli and carrots. The potatoes and brown rice were extras(but more than I needed). A good place to come to clear your sinuses! And get your veggie on :)

Loved it. I’m a meat eater but love to try new things and this was great. Good food, really nice staff, would certainly come back and recommend to friends.

I had the opportunity to check out Veggie Fun for a friends birthday dinner on a Saturday night. There were 14 of us and of course a reservation was made for 8 p.m. but we all realized upon arrival that we obviously didn’t really need one because the place was practically empty. Our waitress(es) were fairly prompt, somewhat friendly but hard to get information out of. Now, I’m not sure if this was due to the language barrier and the questions being asked but it seemed like she really had no interest in talking to us about anything other than what was on the menu. We also felt rushed on a few occasions when we were asked if we wanted our check prior to having even served cake(which we brought) to the birthday boy. I found it odd. I couldn’t tell you what everyone ordered but I feel like it was a good mix of the menu all around and at the end of dinner most all plates were empty. I decided on the cold noodles which I understand sounds dull and boring, in fact I was being made fun of, however; it was quite delicious. I wish it hadn’t been SO cold, maybe more like room temperature would’ve been better. The ambiance is just ok, it’s nothing special and the floor set up doesn’t help. We were put at a very long table(which I think was about 4 or 5 tables put together) but we were shoved between the doorway and a wall, so it was very tight and awkward making it hard to see and converse with everyone. I’m not sure I’d go back to Veggie Fun to dine but I may order take-out. I wouldn’t suggest this place for big parties.

Oh my gods and goddesses, why have I not gone to this place sooner?! I was doing errands in Providence and needed to stop for lunch, but I was in the mood for something different — hence I consulted Unilocal and saw this place. I’ve walked by it countless times and as a(trying) vegan I’ve always got an eye out for a veggie-friendly place to eat. It’s been on my to-go-to list for maybe a year or even more now, but somehow never made it in. I decided that moment to wait no longer and go for lunch for one. I have no regrets of my decision. When you walk in you have the whole restaurant(just about) spread out in front of you. Two sides with booths and tables flank a bar. The décor/ambience is dark and quiet in a way which evokes relaxation and reflection. The staff who sat me and waited on me was polite and efficient. I had a cocktail a delicious Dark and Stormy made with homemade ginger ale, an entrée with a salad, and dessert and my bill was under $ 30. Not bad I feel. The cocktail was lovely and strong, the salad fresh and simple, the entrée of sweet and sour sesame fried soy with brown rice, pineapple, red bell pepper, and broccoli. The brown rice is served on the side. The sauce is heavenly — tastes fresh and homemade and it doesn’t have any of those corn syrup or whatever after taste of other more mainstream sweet and sour sauce. You can taste the bell peppers and he pineapple and fried soy was heaped on top of the veggies and pineapple with the sauce drizzled on top. Not too much and not too little, just right. I swear I would eat it every day it was just such a medley of flavored in my mouth. The dessert was another example of perfection. I had banana spring rolls, which seemed to be softened and seasoned banana pieces wrapped up in rice paper, fried, and then served with soy ice cream… dear lord, the portion was just enough to satisfy without causing excessive guilt about calories or fat. I will definitely back and will be bring my husband, as I bet he will love this place.

Had a Groupon and was so excited to try this place as I love vegan food but I am not the best at actually making vegan food :) We were able to find plenty of parking in front and we were the only ones in the restaurant. It was really cold in the place, even the bartender had her jacket on so not sure why they were ok with it being so cold but oh well. We ordered the green tea, which was a huge mug for only $ 2 and tasted great. We got the steamed vegetarian dumplings which were good, they came out quickly but they weren’t even the slighest bit warm. For entrees we had the Pad Thai and the Moo-Shu Fantasia(mushrooms, cabbage, scallions with wraps). The Moo-Shu had a great flavor but the Pad Thai was really bland, I added some soy sauce to it which made it a little bit better. However, again the food was cold, I just didn’t really understand because there was no one else in the restaurant. It was a disappointing experience, maybe the food would have been a lot better if there was a little bit of warmth to it but we weren’t given that opportunity. Service was really slow too, we kept having to look over at the bar to get the waitress to take our order, get more drinks, etc. She was reading a school book most of the time so the distraction probably had a lot to do with it.

I ordered takeout from Veggie Fun, and was very pleased with my veggie tempura and smoked teriyaki seitan. I’m not a vegan, or a vegetarian, but I was thrilled that this dish tasted as good as it looked. If you like duck, go for this dish. That said, I would love to see a vegan/vegetarian version of Peking Duck on the menu! I would most certainly return to Veggie Fun… or at least continue to order take-out when I’m in the mood to spend over $ 10 on a main dish :)

i came to Providence first time and was working hard during Hair Show. Needless to say there was no vegetarian options instead of salad and it was not fresh at all. so in the end of the day Veggie Fun was perfect place to come for eat good quality veggie food and relax in comfortable atmosphere. I wanted a sandwich, but the sandwich place was closed. Or how about the Ramen spot? Oh the good Ramen is for dinner service only… grrrr. OK maybe today’s the day I try this veggie place and see if it satisfy my inner carnivore. I checked out the reviews on Unilocal; of course, and the food looked pretty interesting. The restaurant itself had a nice quiet vibe about it even though it was midday on a Saturday. The staff was really nice and offered a great suggestion for someone who was in foreign territory as far as my taste buds were concerned. I tried the spicy basil dish and found it to be really stellar. The dish looked beautiful and the flavors were amazing. I’m not really a zucchini person but I loved the zuchinni in this dish. Topped things off nicely with their mango ice tea as well. I really enjoyed my meal here and would gladly recommend it to anyone looking to try something a little different.

Everything we ordered was perfectly prepared, with fresh, distinct flavors and a variety of spot-on textures. Even the salad dressing was fresh and lively. The kitchen worked quickly, and the service was friendly and fast. I want to explore the entire menu now. It’s so nice to eat at great vegan restaurant that I could bring any omnivore friend to.

On a recent trip to Providence, we found this incredible gem. I can’t say enough about the food. It was so, so good. And the large spacious ambience was well worth the trip.

Vegan Pan-Asian cuisine isn’t my friends’ cup of green tea(wow I’m so clever)…so I came here before they picked me up! Mushroom miso had too many mushrooms and not enough miso/tofu, but was comforting overall. I also ordered the singapore noodle dish and was pleasantly greeted by a perfect portion of angel hair noodles, tofu, and a variety of vegetables. It was a tiny bit spicy for me, but I was able to get used to the spice and enjoy the meal. I like the calm atmosphere and softspoken service. When you’re looking for a calming and comforting meal, try out this restaurant. :)

I gotta admit, I was intrigued by the concept of vegetarian Asian food. Initially I thought it would be an epic fail, but the positive reviews on Unilocal gave me some hope. I came by on a slow weekday with my cousin for her birthday. We tried the General Taos made with soy protein. It looked just like an ordinary general taos. A bit flat in shape is all. Took a bite and thought to myself«what is this sorcery?» It tasted like general taos chicken! Without the chicken! It was NOT some cheap imitation and certainly NOT some soy filled weird textured tofu drenched in sauce like I came to expect. It was actually tasted really good! We also had some tasty udon noodle soup and green tea ice cream. All of which were delicious and pretty comparable to many other Asian restaurants that have meat. Needless to say, it’s a pretty good solid choice for vegetarians seeking some vegan friendly asian cuisine that is easy on the wallet and doesn’t sacrifice on taste.

I love this place. And I’m not vegetarian. At all. Remotely. But that matters not. At all. Remotely. The place is elegant and simple. The staff is quiet and polite. The food blows my mind. — Herbed lemonade. It’s sweet. Really. Slowly replace sips with water from your plain glass. Just above the half way it’s perfect and u just doubled your delicious investment. — Edamame. Simple. — Roll Sampler. Spring, Summer and Autumn. Each amazing in its own way. 2fried one not. So many textures. So little time … on the meter … but I’ll go feed it. (Side note: parking can suck;-) –General Tso’s. Great sauce. Decently textured soy chicken covered in AMAZINGLY Textured batter. — The BEST hot and sour soup. THEBESTBESTBESTBESTEVER!!! I go there sometimes for it alone. And usually end up getting the rest. — Pad Thai is in my too 10 of all time. I love them.

Finally, an all vegetarian restaurant that I can proudly stand behind. Actually, VF is full-vegan and as I found out, about nine days after they first opened their doors on Dorrance Street, their compassionate take on traditional Americanized-Asian fare is really delicious. Having gone back for both table service and take out more times than I can count, let me just say three more things: 1. Their staff is the friendliest in town. 2. It is awesome that I no longer have to travel to Boston or NYC to get the asiatic treats I recall from my meat-eating days. 3. If you get bugged out by mock-meats, you will not like it here. But I’m telling you right now, once you get over it, you’ll be just like me — coming in here sometimes as frequently as twice per day.

Finally, a great little Asian spot in PVD that’s all vegetarian JUSTFORME! Ok, maybe it’s for you too. Yeah and you also. Fine, it’s for EVERYONE! I am very happy to have a delicious place where my meat-loving husband and I can come and eat without having to worry just how much animal product I’ve unintentionally ingested. The whole menu is safe! You see, it’s so great because he really likes eating vegetarian Asian food when it actually tastes good. NYC has got thousands of these spots, PVD not so much. But that’s OK because we have Veggie Fun now! Ok, the Kimchi Udon Stir Fry was so good and super flavorful. The Veggie Udon Noodle Soup was delicious and fresh with a miso broth, spinach and nice fat udon noodles. I did doctor this one up a bit with a bunch of chili sauce for a little heat. The Summer Rolls weren’t really up to snuff but the ingredients were all very fresh. I will be back and there were so many other items on the menu that I can’t wait to try!

Veggie Fun, I would like to be able to give you more of my money in the future. Please, please, pleaseeee put more on the menu that is truly veggie based, and not meat substitutes. I am not vegan/strictly vegetarian but I sort of get squeamish with things that pretend to be meat. Vegetables rule, why not celebrate that more? The location and service is dead on. Down away from the hubbub of downtown and in a neat location where you can look out at the goings on of Pine St. I was expecting a bit more atmosphere, but it was dark and I liked that for dinner time. Ok, I got the Bi Bim bap, and obviously I cannot read and was a bit confused that it was cold. I would have liked that the server confirmed with me that I was ordering a cold dish(this is after she got pushy with my drink order being very strong and reiterating this several times). The kimchi was nice and spicy, the seaweed salad was well seasoned, the chickpeas seemed a bit out of place and unseasoned. It was supposed to be served with hot sauce and sesame sauce, but I definitely received a peanut sauce. The décor was a little lacking, and there were some obvious barriers between the waitstaff and guests. I see a lot of good reviews for their lunch menu so I think my second experience will be for that.

Veggie Fun is exactly what it sounds like: vegetarian food that’s fun. I gotta be honest, I didn’t miss the meat at all — this food is fresh, tasty and really, really well-made. The location is great — on the far end of Dorrance, away from the hubbub but still downtown, which makes the parking easy and you’re still within walking distance of a lot of great shopping, bars, etc. The space is large, bright and airy thanks to huge windows and high ceilings. But enough about that — let’s talk about food. I’ve had the Orange Seitan and the General Tso’s Soy Protien, and both were fabulous. I’d even venture to say they were better than the chicken versions I’ve had elsewhere as they’re all flavor, great texture, served with perfectly cooked broccoli, and very far away from being made with what might be sketchy meats. These dishes are just damn delicious. I’ve also had the house salad and spring rolls — in fact, each entrée comes with a side of brown rice and salad or miso soup, and the spring rolls are free if you Check-In on your Unilocal App(hint, hint). Service is friendly and prompt. I can say with certainty that Veggie Fun is on my list of go-to spots now. It’s by far my favorite Chinese food in Providence!
