I found this business after desperately looking up options to get some help to get a hole punched in the dress wear leather belt that I had carried from India. Had called in and confirmed whether they could help out before heading to the shop. The associate at the store was very welcoming and didn’t charge any money for the service extended.

I have used this shop four times now. It has been a total let down three out of the four times, and the fourth time the repair was mediocre. The first time, I brought two pairs of shoes for resoling. The owner told me no problem, and he charged me $ 70 for each pair of shoes. When I returned, he hadn’t resoled the shoes, he had ground down the heels and glued some new rubber over the part that he had ground down. On one of the pairs of shoes, the repair came unglued within a week. I went back four or five times and he kept re-​gluing the soles and they would simply fall apart again within a week of wearing. He never offered an alternate solution, and he got more and more angry at me for returning with the shoes. I asked if he would prefer to refund the original $ 70 and he angrily retorted that «that’s not gonna happen».
My wife went recently fro a repair on her favorite pair of Clarks because the stitching was coming undone. The repair is messy and obvious, and messed up the lines of the shoe. They don’t look good anymore, and she won’t wear them anymore. The guy who owns this place seems to do roughshod work and I plan to never return.

One of the best customer experiences I’ve had in any store. I came in with a pair of Doc Marten boots that needed new mid-​soles and heels, what I didn’t know is that Docs use special PVC soles that most shops just don’t have. The folks here spent a good while trying to help me find someone in town that has PVC soles. We didn’t find anyone and I ended up getting Vibram rubber soles, and I’ve very happy with them. My boots look great and are great to walk on!

He turned a small easy to execute repair into a remanufacturing of the shoe and charged me accordingly. I couldn’t have been more astonished when he refused to adjust the price to a reasonable figure. Outrageous.
He also falsely claimed that I had been notified to pick up my shoes for several weeks. They never called, instead, I’ve been waiting patiently for over three months to have the shoes returned to me.
Shoe repair facilities are a dime a dozen I would keep looking if I were you.

Funny enough I didn’t get my shoes repaired here, but I really appreciated the quick and honest assessment of some boots I brought in. They let me know what could be done, about how much it would be and it turned out not to be worth it so I’m glad I didn’t waste the money or time.

My experience dates back a few years but after reading through the reviews here I saw some similar run-​ins with these guys and decided to leave a review. I brought a pair of sneakers here to be resoled. They told me a week turnaround time and the shorter guy mumbles «Fifteen dollars» as the price. I come back a week later and they haven’t even begun the repair. They tell me to come back in a few hours and they will be ready. So I return a few hours later and they are just finishing up with the resoling. The other guy rings up the sale: Fifty dollars! I said «The other guy said $ 15.» «No, no. He wouldn’t say that.» For some reason I paid. As a friend of mine said, they’ve probably been bamboozling people with that one for decades. All of this wouldn’t have bothered me so much if the work had been first rate, but it was a shoddy job that didn’t last long, was truly not finished properly and was given to me anyway. I would advise you to take your business elsewhere.

Amazing! Brough in 2 boots, one that needed stitching done and the other with salt damage. also got cleaned and buffed and water proof! Both were done in one day! Everything cost 50 $ Dropped off at 9am and done at 2pm. THEY ALSO TEXT YOU WHEN YOUR ORDER IS READY!!!

I continued to go here for years because they’re close to my house even after they lost a bag of mine. They called and told me that my bag was ready however it wasn’t mine. After convincing them that I knew what my bag looked like they told me to look for it myself. I found it hanging up in a corner.
Today a heel that I had done on a shoe last week came off. I wasn’t looking for a free repair, I was just telling him (the owner) what happened. As usual the owner was rude & combative I took my boot back and I’ll find somewhere else to do my shoe repairs!

I“ve never been to a cobbler and this one seemed to have good reviews so I decided to go. I took a pair of boots that were extremely worn. The guy laughed at me and said it wasn’t fixable. I also had two leather purses that needed fixing. On one of them, the top flap was separating from the base (it was more of a clutch style) and he said he could do it. The other one, the fringe tassel was messed up and needed to be reorganized and sewn back together, he told me to take it to a tailor. Ok, two weeks later I get a text to pick up my purse. Literally had a two inch stitch mark from where they fixed it and the whole lining was jammed up and messy and coming out the other end. And it cost me $ 10. Not going again.

These guys are great! I always take my shoes and boots there for repair, as I have a tendency to wear down the heels. Their prices are affordable and repairs are almost always done the very next day. They’ve given me tips about caring for my shoes and even warned me in advance when the cost of repairs wouldn’t be worth it. I highly recommend Wayland Square Shoe Repair.

SPEEDY SERVICE! I found the recommendation here on Unilocal,since I needed a strap resewn on a purse. I dropped it KGB Saturday at 10:30am and had a call at 12:45pm that same day that it was done. SPEEDY!
Let them know if you don’t text. As they do send texts too that work is complete.
Purse looks great and ready for the trip I am going on. Will happily return in the future.

Update to my 2÷14÷2012 review: Did a decent job repairing the heel on my boots and at the very least made them wearable again. I believe they charged $ 15 – 20, which might be alot for me typically but worth it to me in this case. I would return here if I needed this service again.

These guys know how to cut corners and charge you for an inferior service/​product. My first experience was when I came in to have a pair of dress shoes shined. A few days later when I picked up the shoes and brought them home, I noticed that they had shined only the toes and neglected to take care of the other parts. The shoes looked so bizarre that I eventually had them re-​shined somewhere else.
I should have learned then but made the mistake of revisiting several months later to replace the heels on another pair of dress shoes. When I brought them home, I saw that each heel had a chipped corner — one of them with black paint marked over the spot to disguise the flaw. In other words, they consciously made the decision to sell me a damaged product and charge me for it.
That is unethical, and it goes without saying that I won’t be returning again. As the saying goes, caveat emptor…

I just picked up a suitcase that I was told probably would not be able to be fixed my multiple people. I figured I would try and bring it in and they were able to fix it! They also did it in 1 day which is incredible. I have also brought in a pair of heels which I had torn the leather and they made it look like new! They are reasonable and the best repair shop I have been to!

First experience — Fantastic, my Ferragamos looked brand spanking new, and they were ready within hours.
Second experience — dropped off some boots that were scuffed and bought a bunch of reasonably priced specialty shoe care product that you just can’t find at most big box retailers. I also got a mini-​lesson on an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of pretty-​please-​fix-​my-​boots cure. Love that.
Third experience — They told me it would take 1 day. It took 24. SIGH.
Fourth experience– 3 day turnaround. Boots look better, but not as great as when I took them over to another leather shop across town.
Overall, these guys do good work and seem very knowledgeable. I wish they would be more consistent about providing realistic turnaround times on service so my expectations are in line. I did not appreciate having to wait weeks on end for my cold weather footwear in the dead of winter. I’ll probably try them out again, but if I absolutely need something in a short timeframe, I may consider other options.

I’m going to jump on the bandwagon, and give Wayland Square Shoe Repair my most sincere and heartfelt recommendation. I bought a pair of nice leather wingtips to complete the hipster/​GQ vibe that I have so come to love (and my bank account has come to despise… alas). I wore them perhaps more than I should have; and regardless, New England winters have a way of mucking up nice clothing… grr. They weren’t destroyed, but definitely had seen better days (a fair amount of scuffs, lost their shine, etc).
I brought in my shoes at 9:30am on a Tuesday, expecting to hear the worst: that my shoes will never relive the glorious days of their youth, and that it’d be best if I bought a new pair. I’ll admit that the owner looked at them a bit skeptically, but nonetheless, he said they could be worked on. I gave him my number so that he could text me when they were done.
I was full expecting to hear back from him in a couple of days, and shell out a pretty penny for the repair. The reality is that I got a text the SAME DAY saying that I could pick them up first thing in the morning. My shoes were beautifully polished, the scuffs are all but nonexistent, AND he replaced the heels of my shoes — and best of all, it’s so cheap!!!
I have since learned how to properly care for my shoes, so hopefully I don’t have to come here any time soon. But if you are in need of shoe repair, don’t go anywhere else.

Wait times for repairs are generally a week or less – and if you’re in a particular rush, they’ll do everything in their power to turn something around as soon as you need it (you could even negotiate a same-​day turnaround, if your timing is right). And while cobblers might be branded as practitioners of an old school profession, these guys will send you a text message when your job is complete!
There’s nothing fancy about the storefront or its claustrophobic interior. Blink, and you might miss the entrance on Wayland Avenue. But it’s there, and it has been for years: an example of steady, stalwart service and one of the very best small businesses in the city. You can trust this fantastic little store to fix your kicks, whenever they become busted.

I have taken many shoes here for all sorts of issues. The service is great! It’s quick, affordable and it’s definitely worth the trouble of finding parking.

Any man that can magically get my abnormally large calves to fit into «normal» boots for $ 18 is my hero. These guys stretched my new knee high suede numbers 2.5″ and saved me $ 80 on the looming gussets. I like how they operate: starting with the least expensive process and working to a more expensive plan if necessary.

I bought The Perfect Black Flats over two years ago, and have worn them countless times. They were a BITCH to break in, but that’s only because the leather is so sturdy and it needed time to form to my foot, which now it does, and perfectly so.
