I stopped into The Boathouse and had a wonderful time. The atmosphere was great, the food was delicious and the drinks were awesome. I highly recommend the pool party for a drink and don’t miss out on the burgers!!! Definitely will be in again when I come back to the island.

we tried the food for the first time and it was wonderful — just what we wanted. They had a guy playing guitar on the stage who was really fun and interacted with the crowd a lot. I will definitely drop in again.

Picked this spot after our long walk back from the Butterfly House to celebrate our Anniversary. Dinner was terrific! Hubby had the del Monaco steak and he said it was the best he has ever had. Came with a salad, real mashed red skinned potatoes and green beans. I had the perch and walleye. I’m a picky fish eater and never order it out, but I thought what the heck, were are on the lake, I’ll be adventurous! It was delish!!! And the drinks… out of the world!!! Plan on going back again!!!

Menu looked pretty good so we sat down for lunch. Food wasn’t too bad. most of us ordered a build your own burger. The mushrooms for the burgers were only about 5 pieces and the fries were super salty. We couldn’t get a hold of our waitress(Jordan) so we called the manager? Over and he had helped us. From that point on the waitress had a super attitude with us. The ranch dressing was pretty good though. home made.

My expectations weren’t very high for this place after looking at the reviews. However, I was proven wrong. While service was a tad slow(the restaurant was very packed) I had a generally good experience. Live music was very good. As was my food. Margherita flatbread was very very good.

The food was terrible and the drinks were over priced. The only reason I’m giving it two stars is because the band they hired was GREAT!

Not the worst place I’ve ever been to, but not too good. First, the menu is very bland. They don’t have any specialty burgers, it is just«make it yourself». The prices were a bit high for a burger that was clearly a frozen patty. The meat was not very good at all. The side salad was okay. The overall setup of the place was pretty cool, but the food was less than average. I would take my chances elsewhere next time visiting PIB.

This is only one of a 2 or 3 bars I visited while at Put-in-Bay. Our buddy’s friend was playing an afternoon acoustic set here so we stopped by for a bit. I liked that the whole front of the bar was open, letting light and a nice breeze in. They had 2 areas for musicians, a small setup over one of the bars for solo acts and a larger stage in the back for bigger acts. This place was relatively busy around 5 or so, but we didn’t have any problem getting drinks. It definitely helped that there were 2 bars open. I had my mind set on kicking off PIB with some fruity drinks and opted for the Peach Sangria. It came in a larger novelty cup for $ 8 and I have to admit I enjoyed this way more than I expected to. Peach Vodka, Chardonnay, Sierra Mist and some OJ. Really refreshing! Bf joined me on my fruity drink adventure and went for the Strawberry Palmer — Strawberry Vodka and Lemonade. He slurped it down. We had 2 each and were feeling pretty, pretty, pretty good. We didn’t eat here, so I can’t speak to the food. Overall it was an okay place to have a drink or two, catch some music and enjoy the first part of our night.

Food took 50 minutes after order and it wasnt that busy. I can’t imagine what it would have been like if it had been busy. Never going back.

It’s a resort town so my expectations weren’t high but the prices were. Two adult and for kids meals came to 75 bucks. The food was decent but nothing that inspired me to plan a return visit. The Guinness was good!

Un-impressed. The food was mediocre, and the service sucked. We were here for an hour and a half and have nothing but a stomachache as a result. The folks were friendly, but friendly doesn’t make up for bad food and poor service.

Why is it that restaurants in touristy places must suck? OK, I understand that this is a short-season place etc, I understand I need to pay extra. I am fine with paying $ 15 for lunch. I even understand that the food tastes like it is fresh from a microwave. But what I dont understand is why the portions are so small that you cannot feed a child? The salad my wife ordered for about $ 10 was basically what you would get as a side salad in most restaurants. The gumbo(bowl) was size of a cup. Four people, $ 50(no drinks), all four left hungry.

This place was GREAT. Had the Colossal burger that came on waffles instead of a bun, and wings. «Had» is a strong word, because that makes me seem like a piggy, so the truth is that I «shared» it. It was messy and had syrup but was good anyways. We came on a weekday afternoon, and had great service, so we can’t speak for the nightlife and dinner service. But our lunch was great, we sat semi-outdoors and enjoyed the weather. Will definitely come here again next time we are on the island :)

I purchased a Put-in-Bay package through Channel 3WKYC, the local NBC affiliate in Cleveland. It included a $ 25.00 Certificate for The Boathouse on Put-in-Bay, so this is where our family ate. They have outdoor seating, which is where you want to dine when eating there with family. Since this is also a bar, the indoors is more suited to large groups and the bar scene. Seating inside consists of booths, high-top tables & chairs and picnic tables. There was also live entertainment, a solo song and guitar act that performed in a niche built into the wall. The menu has apps, salads, sandwiches, burgers and lots of seafood options. We had about a ½ hour wait for outside seating and used the time to peruse the menu. The teenager in our group set his sights on the Schooner Somers($ 12.95) which consisted of a 10 oz. burger topped with pulled pork, cheese, coleslaw, lettuce and tomato — it also came with house cut fries and a pickle spear. The presentation was picture-worthy and he devoured it long-before we finished our meal so I’d say it was a hit. The twenty-something, vegetarian(that also eats seafood) ordered the Shrimp Po Boy($ 10.95). The YuengLing– battered shrimp is placed on a bed of shredded lettuce and tomato slices and is served on a crunchy hoagie roll. She requested the spicy remoulade on the side because she wasn’t sure if it would be too spicy — it wasn’t. She said the crispy coating was flavorful and the shrimp was nice and juicy. The sandwich didn’t come with fries, so I shared the ones that came with my dinner. She also ordered a Bloody Mary, which she enjoyed. Just enough savory spice and served with a celery stick and a lemon and lime slice. Now to my order: Again, while waiting, I took the opportunity to ask questions about items on the menu. I asked the hostess what the difference was between the Walleye Sandwich($ 14.95) and the Walleye Basket($ 19.95) other than the $ 5.00 price. She noted that the Sandwich comes on a roll and the Basket comes with two huge pieces of fish. When I asked about sharing, she recommended it and said there wasn’t a split charge. I ordered the Walleye Basket and was glad that I ordered only one entrée for me and my fiancé. It came with 2 very large pieces of beer battered fillets, served with house-cut fries, coleslaw and house-made tartar sauce. The food came out already separated, which I really appreciated. The piece was huge and got to be a bit much about ½ way through. I started picking off the coating and only eating the fish. It was very good, don’t get me wrong, it was just too much fried food for me. The service was a little slow, but the hostess told me they were a little short in the kitchen, so we were prepared and could have left if this was going to be an issue. The server we had was friendly and did a fine job and I really appreciated everything coming out split, including the fries and coleslaw. Overall, it was a good experience and would consider eating there again, but would most likely try one of the other restaurants on the island, just for a change.

Our $ 25 gift card wasn’t accepted even though it didn’t have any specifications, manager said it was a misprint and to call channel 3WKYC. Also the menu had Dr. pepper but the server said they didn’t have any. They menu had prices changed with sticky paper which looked sub par, service was slow. SAVEYOURMONEY, GOELSEWHERE!

This place is all about the looks, with horrible service. Had to go get the hostess to be seated, who ended us menus… but forgot to tell us they were out of pretty much anything?! They don’t even have beer glasses, and will bring you some cheap plastic cups at your table. So we just left as fast as we came in. I think they just don’t care because they know tourists will just keep on coming. There are much better places to go eat on the island, don’t waste your time there.

This place looks like it was designed by the Pirates of the Caribbean Gang. The interior is all carved wood, one side is a wooden ship, the other is wooden booths. There are life-like carved pirates to hang out with or take a photo opportunity! There are two big stages and you don’t need to worry, the entertainment is top-notch! And the bar stools, even though they are wood, they are very comfortable. As to the food, well, it was interesting. I got two of the specialities, the sweet potato nachos, and the shrimp po’ boy. The nachos were a leaden brick comprised of waffle-cut sweet potatoes, pulled pork, and mozzerella cheese. They serve it with honey mustard(why?). I picked at it to dislodge something from the mess, and finally gave up and threw it away. It was achingly sweet! The shrimp po’ boy was unremarkable and was more bread than shrimp. I also sent that one to the garbage bin. I’m glad I didn’t try more! Enjoy for drinks and the music, but find somewhere else to eat!
