The craft beer that they have on tap is amazing. Awesome bartenders, great live music, amazing food,(not bar food by the way) and very clean bathroom!

This place is perfect. Great beer selection, amazing food and great live music. It’s a great place in the community to run into someone you know, or chat with someone new at the bar. I had the McMullan home fries, which were on special and soooooo good, as great as the notorious McMullans themselves!

Searched for a half way place for a first date, did I mention blind date?(Online). I emailed the owner, Terry asking if it was a good place to talk, get to know someone, he said definitely. I walked in alone, the people warm welcoming, locals who didn’t stare out a new person, smiles back at me everywhere. And the music!!! The Silks, big sound, beautiful which helped so much, for it was not a match date alas. But I’ve fallen in love with stomping ground and are bringing friends back, wish it was closer I’d go alone in a heartbeat. Thanks Terry and staff for making me so welcome. Pamela.

One of my favorite bars in the area. Phenomenal beer selection love that there are no main stream brands in here. The food is great and fresh as well. Always have a nice selection of apps and the grilled cheese are out of this world. Nice love music as well.

I do love this place. It is always my go-to when i go out in the area. You’ll find a lot of locals here usually. First off this bar has the best live music, great eclectic sounds, sometimes theres even room for dancing! Really good vibes. Second of all the bartenders are THEBEST. They make fabulous cocktails, on the menu and off, are attentive and on the ball. Im always impressed, even when its super busy in there. Oh and their beer selection, for you beer snobs out there – is very good and changes often. Ive never eaten anything from here but they do have a few vegetarian and one or two vegan appetizers. The only drawback is that it gets pretty crowded and because of the band it gets pretty loud and can be difficult to hear your friends. Besides that, best bar in the area, def. Great drinks, great vibes, great art, great music, cool people. Just try it.

First time here. I stopped in with my wife on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon. The place had a great vibe even though it wasn’t very busy. It was a Sunday afternoon and the Patriots were playing so most people were elsewhere watching the game and there are no TVs here. They want you to focus on the live music, eclectic décor and ambiance. We sat at the bar and were received very well by the bartender/owner who filled us in on the story behind the place. We see this place being immensely successful. They had a live 3 pc band playing jazz infused remixes which was great for the ambiance. There is no cover for the band but if you like what you here, you can give the band a tip/cash. It reminds me a bit of the speakeasy bars in Nashville in how they run this place for music. This place is MUCH cleaner and more attractive though than the places I have been to in Nashville. This place has got to be rocking on the weekend nights. Can’t wait to try it out. There is a great selection of beers and specialty martinis. He told us that he swaps out the draft beers all the time to keep things fresh. We had the bacon poppers, House Of Pain Grilled Cheese and a daily special wrap that had house made sausage. All the food was very good and reasonably priced. It was very fresh and came with a potato and apple side salad which I was skeptical of but ate the whole thing after trying it because it was so good. All their dishes are unique but not so much that it scares you. We drove up from Northern RI about 30 minutes to come here and it was well worth it. Great spot that we will definitely return to.

Great ambience for a midday meal or night out. They have a big bar and a wide selection. Food wise– I felt it was an honest attempt to be contemporary and adventurous, however after a few bites the sweet potato, pinto bean burrito didn’t whet my palate. The rest of the table had similar opinions, the food tasted fresh and well cooked, but it just didn’t quite hit the spot. That being said, we’d probably go back to try out more of the menu.

Great dinner, great atmosphere, great service. Sticking around to hear some great music too. I had a scrumptious grilled cheese, The Sinatra, and hubby had the biggest, juiciest burger, I’ve seen on a plate in a very long time. Delicious fresh fruit cocktails. Comfy, casual, atmosphere, not stuffy or pretentious at all. Hard to critique perfection!

Very different restaurant for me, it’s is fairly small and cozy but you can sit either at the bar, at a high top or nice leather chairs with a table. There is local art all over which gives it a nice look. The staff was polite and knowledgable. There was a good assortment of beverages to choose from I had a beer the owner suggested to me they called the drunken Jew, it looked really dark but wasn’t heavy at all, it had a little tartness but was delicious. I also got the French onion soup which may have been the best I’ve ever had the broth was not salty at all, the croutons where homemade, and the Gruyère that topped the bowl was delicious. I also had the Neil Young Burrito, it was amazing the addition of the duck sauce and apples really made the burrito different. I will definitely be putting this place on my rotation even though it’s a 40 minute ride for me it’s worth it!!!

Favorite lunch place in Putnam, CT Very unique and delicious food. The bacon wrapped jalapenos stuffed with cream cheese are the best ones I’ve ever had and I’ve also had both a gourmet grilled cheese and a «burrito» both not your typical of either but outstanding. Pictures and descriptions below.

Exceeded my expectations by a mile. Went for lunch and had the soup and half sandwich. My test item at any restaurant offering it is chicken tortilla soup, should be simple enough but so frequent can be a disappointment. The soup was outstanding, obviously made with fresh ingredients and seasoned just right. Everyone working there were friendly and efficient. It was a pleasant surprise and it will now be a regular.

I have to say: we haven’t even eaten yet and I love this place. It’s got a relaxed, casual vibe and seems like it would be a great venue for music, which I’d love to experience. My husband and I both ordered specials(since we already know we’ll be back so we’ll be able to order from the menu anytime): a «Blue Goat» and«Lemon Pig.» Also ordered(and are currently eating) the French onion soup, which is very good. Chatted for a few minutes with the owner — their story is really awesome, and worth the trip here on its own. Will post again once we’ve eaten! Ok — now we’ve eaten, and it was fab. Also spoke with the chef, who’s very cool and clearly into his craft. The food was great — my son had the smoked salmon grilled cheese, which was awesome. Truly enjoyed this place; can’t wait to come back to try the chef’s next concoction, and maybe even catch some music as well!!! ps — 4 stars is pretty great for me. Only my top 3 eating experiences *ever* would have made 5 star reviews.

Fantastic find in a great antiquing square! I had an incredible take on a pot pie featuring the staples: ground beef, potatoes, cheese, and beer. My wife had a great grilled cheese featuring a nicely done pulled pork. The beer list was surprisingly diverse with a nice selection on tap. The music was intriguing without being obtrusive. We enjoyed the selections but could turn to our conversation when we desired. Go antiquing, take a break, enjoy a great meal, and enjoy some tunes.

Friendly and professional staff at Stomping Grounds and the tortilla-chicken soup I ordered was so delicious that I ordered a second one. I also enjoyed an ‘Anytime stout’ from top shelf brewery(Manchester, CT) The décor and vibe is also very welcoming and comfortable. I look forward to returning next time I am in the area.

Rarely have I experienced a bar so perfect. A splendid Friday night date 45 minutes from Providence. Fun, quirky, intimate, high energy, and many surprises. Live music 5 nights a week. Solid craft beer list. Simple but inspired bar food(extensive grilled cheese list!). Rotating art on the walls. Juuuuuust grungy enough to not take itself too seriously. But not for the faint of heart. It may get cramped. It may get loud. You may have to wait for a seat. You may have the entry way blocked to get to the back of the bar because the front is clogged up with locals and visitors having a stompin’ good time. So totally wonderful. This is the type of place where people jump to their feet to dance with strangers, try a new beer, tip the live band generously, and come back for more again and again. Totally magical.

I sort of want the stomping ground to be my bar down the road. It’s not, but, then again if it were the people watching wouldn’t have been half as amazing. Putnam seems to be a fairly sleepy area. We asked most of the people that approached us at the bar if it was the only bar in the area and it was a pretty unanimous«yes». Went last night and the place was consistently jamming. Seats throughout the joint were constantly full. My friend’s band played several sets throughout the night going with the flow of things. The food was pretty awesome. I like that they have a good array of items but that its not that far reaching either. I had the Belle Gunness, a take on lox and cream cheese made into a yummy grilled cheese. A fresh delicious not too fishy or too smokey portion of smoked salmon, smooth cream cheese, tomato, capers, red onion and lettuce on delicious sourdough bread. The grilled cheese came with a bean salad and a nice sweet homemade pickle. The bar was ample. I only had a couple of angry orchards but they had rotating taps and a selection of fresh fruit infused vodka drinks. The people watching was amazing. The food, the music and the alcohol drew in all sorts of life. Hipsters, townies, MILFS taking selfies and grouping each other, everyone intermingled. At some point a man from switzerland spoke to us and then thought my friend;s boyfriend was going to come and fuck him up for speaking to us… Wild night in Putnam.

Only been once. Hope to come back soon. Grilled cheese sandwiches with unique, delicious twists. Many, many craft, local and international beers to choose from. Funky, laid back atmosphere. Very comfortable. Looking for an excuse to get back out to Putnam so I can try this place again…
