The Pickled Pepper

Very warm staff, and desire to get things just right. I ordered lunch today for delivery, and received the order at exactly the time they said they’d be by. Only after the fact did I realize that they had forgotten my coffee (just a black americano). I almost didn’t call about it due to the relative «cheapness» of the drink & the $ 25 minimum for any delivery. But when I called, they immediately wanted to send someone out to get it to me! It’s such a little thing, one 16oz cup of beverage, but they wanted to make it right anyway in spite of the extra trouble. Thumbs up in my book!

This place is legit! Great service, aaaammmmazing food, tons of fun banter, lots of variation in the menu and something delicious to sample nearly every visit. I’ve found this to be one of my favorites in Puyallup AND I’ve live here my whole life! #bestserviceever

I’ll never go back. The gal at the cash register has a horrible attitude. Gave me a scowl because I got there 15 minutes before close. I even said, «You act like you’re mad at me!» «I’m trying to close.» After I settled for a lunch for my wife and I (I couldn’t get what I wanted) I, I had to pay with a credit card. «No cash, I’m done with my till.» I was two blocks away and glance at my watch and it was 5 minutes before close.
I told my wife and she shared an experience when she went and they were outside having a cigarette and had to wait inside for them to have their smoke. Made her mad as well. «They looked right at me so I know they knew I was inside but figured I’d wait, which I did.»
I’ve been in business in Puyallup twenty years and if she was my employee, she’d be gone like right now. «Get your coat and get out!» «I’ll mail your check!»

I’m 64 years old and never posted a negative review but this really upset me. Sorry if this seemed like a rant.

The only negative I have for this place is that it was a little difficult to find. They are located on the ground floor of those big blue office buildings.
One bite of my sandwich and I was hooked. Not sure what else there is to say, but there’s no need for anything else; they’re a sandwich shop. And a VERY good one at that.

Although the food is tasty, it’s not worth the hassle having them deliver. They argue with the time that you want it delivered, and then they have their own tips. Do you have separate orders? Are you using two credit cards? Forget it they don’t like that you have to go to the store and pick it up. Overall I don’t like these guys. I will never order from them again.

Stopped in here to grab a coffee. Stood there as the only person in there for about 4 minutes at the counter while the lady stood there and did paperwork knowing I was there. Not once did she acknowledge me or say I will be right with you. Finally after several minutes she said that she would be right with me and I waited another minute or two. When I ordered my coffee I asked her to put cream in it and she gave me a look as if I was putting her out. I walked to my car sipping my coffee and it was almost undrinkable. I never do this but I walked back in and told them I wanted a refund. When I walked in the owner walked right by me again without acknowledging me. Quite an unfriendly place. I have a hard time believing that this woman runs a business when clearly her customers are not first.

Thanks to my handy Unilocal app, I found this place to get my husband a lunch on a day I would not be home for his lunch time.
He decided to get a Grilled Chicken Panini and the soup of the day which was a Sausage Lentil soup.
I have never heard a man rave about a sandwich as much as he has. It was perfectly balanced, each flavor balancing out the others. The only complaint came from the soup. It lacked sausage. The lentil base was delicious, but when you order a SAUSAGE lentil soup, you have expectations.
Overall we will be returning. The location is perfect, the café itself is small, but I like anywhere that encourages people to get in and out.

To start the French dip is amazing as others have said, blt was average and the navy bean soup was bland. Service started out good but ran out of water twice and the last time never got refilled. Parking is a nightmare. Overall will try again.

This place was so good! It is located in an office building and is a bit small inside with only two tables however the food is delicious. They have additional seating outside as well.
We had the grilled chicken panini and sausage gumbo soup. Omg so good. I wanted another, lol. You’ve got to try their homemade italian dressing! Good on everything!

I love the atmosphere and the menu is out of this world!
I have come in for lunch twice so far and I will definitely be back! First lunch, I had the ‘not just ham and cheese’ which is great if you want comfort food! This time I tried the ‘Tuscan turkey panini’ with a cup of chicken coconut curry, which was a first for me and surprisingly light and yummy! The panini was perfectly toasted and fantastic!
Amazingly delicious! Panera has got NOTHING on The Pickled Pepper! :)

Yum! Wanted to find a new place for lunch. Can’t wait to come back and try the other recommendations! (Chicken panini!). I had the French dip. Fresh bread piled high with roast beef. Soooo good!

We came after the lunch rush around 2pm. My sandwich was freaking awesome. I would definitely go back and recommend this place.
Everyone was super nice except that after we sat outside and got our food. Half of the staff took a smoke break right in front of us. We had to inhale their smoke and listen to their gossip as we ate. A definite downer to a perfect lunch.

Just looks like a little office park deli, but it’s got a wide variety of choices and everything is very fresh. Had the French dip sandwich super delish garlic spread ! The people are really nice too. Would never have stopped in if I hadn’t seen the Unilocal reviews. Thanks Unilocal

Best sandwiches I have ever had! Also yummy breads, and salads! My only complaint, is their hours. They are geared toward the lunch professionals, and I often want to go there on a weekend, or grab sandwiches on the way home from work. Really friendly ladies working there too. Oh, and parking is tough, but the food is so yummy, it is worth navigating around in there a bit. The Aussie chicken is my fav!!!

We had read the story in the Tacoma News Tribune about the deli and decided to came and give it a try. I had a turkey deli sandwich and my wife had the roast beef deli sandwich. Both were fresh and adequate. I would rate it B+. Only two and a half tables inside. Fortunately it wasn’t crowded and we sat down as soon as we got there. I wonder what it’s like when it gets crowded? It is a little hard to find but worth the effort. I want to come back again when we are in the area and try some of the other menu items.

This business is conveniently located across the street — but has easy access for anyone with it’s East Main location. I have take out lunch there every week and they always remember my order has «no cheese»; even if I forget to tell them.
I do not hesitate to send my customers over for a sandwhich or coffee while they are waiting for their vehicle repair.

OMG the aussie sandwich.
I had an internship around here and this was my lunch spot. One day we ordered in lunch for a meeting and this was my order. Afterwards I raced to the orderer to figure out where to get this sandwich again. Once I found it I was in love.
Ok so the sandwich: delicious bread (don’t quote me but it might be foccacia), sweet onions, chicken, honey mustard (?). I don’t know, but it’s amazing. Just go order it.

I had a chicken sandwich here. The chicken was a bit dry and there was way too much bread for the size the sandwich. I wouldn’t go back to this place as there must be better options nearby.
