We have been going to Sutton’s for many many years. A few weeks ago we went and we waited an hour and a half before our meal finally came out. We even called ahead of time because we had 9 people with us and wanted to make it easy for them. We even told them they could use two different tables. We kept being told it was coming. Right before it came out we got up and we’re going to walk out, then they say the food is here. We told them we did not want the food anymore and we would not be staying. My niece wanted to go there and take her friends it was very important to her, the lunch was ruined. The lady that was sitting at a table close to us had to return her salad because the salad looked old. The lady even told the waitress why are those people waiting for so long. We had pre-ordered Donuts from them, they gave them to us for free but I’m sorry that doesn’t make up for making someone wait an hour and a half. We did ask to speak to a manager they told us no manager was available. A waitress came out and asked us for our telephone number, no one has even called so obviously they don’t care how they treat their customers anymore, what a shame we really loved this place

Absolutely LOVE this place! Friendly workers and probably the cutest place you’ll ever go too. Love the candy section! Some of my favorites from the café and bakery are– apple cider donuts, apple dumplings, raspberry truffles, cinnamon buns, and banana chocolate chip pancakes.

Cider donuts are the best!!! Not greasy and are very tasty. I bought two dozen for work and everyone loved them — especially the sugar cider donuts!!! Love their breakfast choices with 3 dollar size pancakes instead of toast. Omelets are great. The staff are friendly and they have unique gifts.

Have been many times to this restaurant/gift shop. Great food, service and giftware. I enjoyed a vegetarian omelet yummy… Great coffee too!

Not sure how anyone can give this place better than 3 stars, though I can see it be worse depending on the individual experience. The food was okay, not great. The menu is limited(for lunch anyway) to burgers, salads and sandwiches and not even artisanal. Basic deli meat from the store and put together in the restaurant. Their not curing their own salumi, brining brisket or anything like that. Oh, but they make«home made» pies. Well, let me explain. I asked if the pies truly were home made(e.g. masterating the fruit, making dough from scratch) and the server said she’d check. Totally not home made it turns out. They use canned fruit purée and frozen puff pastry. Come on guys! Don’t make your servers tell customers it’s home made than come to find out it really isn’t. Just because you bake the pie in the restaurant doesn’t make it «home made»! I hate it when restaurants do this. I’ll call all you all out every time. I would have given this place 3 stars because my burger was decent and the service was timely. But after I heard the truth about their pies I lost a lot of respect. Then it made me think about the front«maze» you have to walk through to get to the restaurant part. Felt like leaving a ride at Disney and forced to walk through the gift shop before truly exiting. This is a little cheesy.

I first started visiting Suttons I late 90’s early 2000’s. I can’t state how much it has fallen off since then. I visited this weekend, and for the second time in a row stopping here, I have been given the rudest attitude from the hostess working the café. They are not very accommodating towards large groups. After doing some research, I see they have added a wine bar and a flatbread pizza kitchen? Are you kidding me? How about adding some seating? Years ago, the shelves were stocked with all types of condiments and one of kind baking stuff. Ton of candy and free samples of dips and crackers. None of that anymore. I was appalled last time I was given an attitude at the café and thought my group over this past weekend would enjoy coming here. How does the saying go? Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice, shame on me !. Amen. I will no longer be coming here. Silo will continue getting all my business and recommendations. Much more friendly atmosphere and staff. It’s a shame, this place used to be the best !

Food is good but service is lacking especially for large groups. If you have a large group go somewhere else.

Rubbery pancakes, gamey tasting eggs, rushing people through their meals [“are you DONE, ma’am?], no offer of a second cup of coffee [had to ask, but around here, that is unheard of], and it took THREE people to change my $ 20 bill. I really think the wait staff is directed to get customers in and out of there as quickly as possible, even when only a few tables are occupied. I think the people who give this place a good rating are remembering the Sutton’s of a bygone era, because I don’t see it at all.

Come to the area from time to time and always stop here. A slightly longer wait for your food can be expected but the quality is unmatched by anything else in the area. The new farm stand has some top notch fruit and vegetables and I always make sure to grab some cider donuts before leaving.

Good food, beautiful store but service was only ok. You’re paying for the ambiance and history of the store.

It breaks my heart to write a review like this. My fathers been coming to suttons for almost 40 years. Myself as a kid — who brought her fiancé now husband. On this trip our first child. It’s always been a part of our twice yearly trips to lake George. We came for breakfast on July 3rd(at the end of breakfast-so it was quiet) and today, July 4th, for early breakfast(it was busy). On both days we were greeted by the same hostess. A rather tense blond woman– who perhaps being frazzled on a holiday weekend– gave attitude to my husband yesterday and today my father. Wait times for food were very long. The waitresses seemed lost, reluctant to check on us or mysteriously didn’t hear our calls of excuse me as they came by. To be specific on today’s meal — a 50 minute wait for food after our breakfast order. No checks on us or attempts to fill us in on why the wait was so long. When we spoke up after 30 minutes we were given a basket of donuts as a gesture of sorry but no answers. Further inquiries to the hostess by my father about continued wait resulted in an answer with a great deal of attitude and basically told us she couldn’t say anything because«the kitchen was full of suttons». At 50 minutes I was ready to go(and full off donuts) when the meal finally came. With items missing. In the end in a sweet but rather uncomfortable gesture the waitress comped our meal out of her pocket(I assume) and told us a little of the mess going on in the back. Management should have handled it but there was none to be found. There really should be a management presence around as in years past. The food was okay. Not as wonderful as in years past but fine. Donuts great. Café and store, ever changing but still lovely. It’s not only food that keeps customers coming back but customer service. I really fear after these two days you’ve lost my father– a 40 year repeat customer for good. I’m hoping that someone from the family reads this and can make some positive changes before to improve a wonderful place with a lot of history.

This had to be one of my family’s worst breakfast experiences in Lake George. It was 4th of July, opening weekend for the summer vacation season, so you would expect them to be prepared for such. The wait was over 45 minutes to be seated. Then another 45 minutes for our food. We had to ask for cutlery and someone to refill the syrup that was empty. The coffee tasted like mud. The bacon and pancakes were under cooked. I asked for well done hash browns and got raw potatoes. I also included a picture of the pancakes with strawberries that looked and tasted like they came out of a jar. The eggs tasted like egg beaters. The best part of my meal was the soda and an English muffin. Coincidentally, it was the only 2 cleared things on the table. In my opinion, the Dunkin Donuts drive through would get 5 stars compared to this place. Considering the availability of fresh produce available in the region, the food they served was just offensive. The waitress was nice but couldn’t even be bothered with asking how much longer till our food would arrive. Save yourself, and your stomach, and your money, and rush to the nearest Dunkin donuts.

Your basic café/diner. Saw this place while driving by and decided to pop in for a late breakfast. You first walk through a store of Adirondack style gifts and at the end of the store, you walk into the café.(Woman’s dream!!) My party of two was seated immediately. The sugared donut is a must. This is one of their staples… as is the raisin bread. I ordered the mexican omelet.(You have a choice of toast or pancakes with an omelet) Nice find. Even if you have to wait for a table, you have plenty to keep you occupied while you wait.

Ok let’s start this off. My fiancé and I went here this past Sunday for breakfast. After a 30 minute wait to get seated, it’s Sunday what are you going to do, we proceeded to have THEWORSTSERVICEEVER. Our server showed up, sweating bullets clearly she has been hustling on this busy day and a bit flustered. She took our drink order a coffee for me a mimosa for her. After 5 minutes we get our drinks. After 10 minutes the hostess/manager came over and asked what my SO was drinking, answering promptly a mimosa. The manager had a pained and angry look on her face and said its Sunday, I have to go fire my server now. First, hey manager if you ever read this, NEVERDOTHIS. It makes the customer feel terrible and awkward. Second, it was on the menu with no restrictions mentioned. Granted we are from the city, so that must be bedlam to you where we drink at all hours of the day. I dare you to not serve drinks early on a Sunday in the city, there would be sober riots. Don’t put it on the menu if it can’t be ordered. At the very least put a warning on the menu in parenthesis«not served on Sunday before 12 or something.» The manager left we presumed to go fire our waitress, I told my SO to guzzle her mimosa lest they take it away. The waitress came back unaware of what happened. We looked at her awkwardly and said we were sorry. She had no idea and then bam superstar management walked over and proceeded to ream her out over the mimosa at our table. DON’T DOTHISEVER!!! This was literally the worst thing you can do in this situation aside from pulling her by the ear to a corner of the room. Now you have an already frazzled waitress now embarrassed in front of the whole dining room. The server laughed it off and said she never knew what day it was half the time. So now manager leaves, she takes our order, sweat dripping from her forehead. We proceeded to wait close to an hour for our food. All the while we watched the three tables seated after us order with different servers and get their actually great looking food, finish and be satisfied by said great looking food. When our plates finally arrived the top of the bun on my Fiancés breakfast sandwich was shredded and falling apart, the bottom was soggy to point of food falling straight through and as a bonus had the wrong meat and cheese in it, we sent it back. It did not stand up to the quality of an hour long wait breakfast sandwich, especially when all aspects of that breakfast sandwich were wrong. My eggs were overcooked yet still cold, that’s a feat in itself. I will say the home-fries were fantastic, seriously I mean that. On the second serving of the breakfast sandwich the top of the bun was fixed, but half burned on the bottom while white on the inside and the meat and cheese was still totally wrong, she gave up and ate part of it. Oh we also ordered the grilled raisin bread, it looked like the icing had long since melted into the bread and it was half cold as well. This food might have been amazing, when it was warm and correct. Had the service not been so shitty this could have been a 5 star review instead of a 1. I blame this entirely on the management. This is your fault that you had a drink that could not be served on your menu. This is your fault that you yelled at your most likely improperly trained service staff in front of the dining room. This is your fault that you have this 1 star review. Hopefully you do the right thing and correct your staff away from the customers and after service and not set them and your customers up for failure. Smooth move, gold star to you, fire yourself after you fire the waitress please.(Kudos on the home fries, super good).

This place was so good. The home fries were outstanding. I had two eggs over easy with extra crispy bacon and with mixed berry pancakes. Everything was cooked perfectly. The only minor complaint was the coffee was not the greatest yet everything else was in point. Service was outstanding as well.

Wow, this place has really gone downhill. The dining area has never been updated, disgusting dark green carpet. The place looked very dirty. The«gift shop» was just sad. The shelves were empty! It’s only a matter of time before this place closes. So sad because I used to enjoy coming here as a child.

This review is really for only one thing. The Cider Donuts! Once a year I get up bright and early to beat Rte 9 traffic into Glens Falls and I get a half dozen Cider Donuts. Sprinkled with cinnamon these donuts are delicious. I’ve never eaten anything else here, but I’m ok with that. Go and get some I implore y’all!

This is a great spot for breakfast in Lake George. The staff was friendly, food was great, and it was not expensive. Cute little spot that I’d definitely want to go to again. The only downside is that they do not serve alcohol before 12, and what fun is brunch without a mimosa? On that note, we did stay past 12 and the cocktails were good too! * I overlooked that certain counties can’t serve alcohol before noon, so am changing my review to 5 stars.

Five star breakfast in the Lake George region. Good service and good food. I’ve only been for breakfast so I’m not reviewing lunch or dinner here. They a cute Adirondack gift shop with nice stuff and hand made candies and chocolates. On a weekend you might expect to wait a few minutes but it’s worth it and you can shop while you wait. The outdoor seating in nice. I recommend the breakfast sammy on a roll.

I stopped in here for breakfast on the day after Thanksgiving. It was busy with customers, mostly older and mid– to upper-class. The shop is very cute with highly-priced home goods, a bakery, and a small bar that looks like it serves wine and beer. Next door is a quaint antique store which I snagged a few goods at. The breakfast is pretty standard. I got pancakes with strawberry topping and my sisters got the raisin bread french toast and vegetarian omelete(which came with home fries and toast). All reasonably priced. The service was very friendly, attentive, and timely, even for the busy day.
