Jack’s was everything the reviews said. The food was wonderful, service exceptional and atmosphere pleasant. The staff was courteous and friendly and the host David came to chat at our table. David and his brother Christian(the chef) are to be commended in their fine establishment. It’s a must if you are visiting or passing through!

What a great experience – delicious food, extremely friendly and attentive service, and a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. The steak was cooked to perfection and the oysters on the half shell were fresh and delicious. Great salads, too!

A lot of the restaurants in the LG area are tourist traps, and therefore the expectations are not for great food. Jack’s is one of the exceptions. At first glance from the outside, it would seem that Jack’s might be a step above a coffee shop, given its location among a small strip of stores. It is anything but. When you walk in, you find that the seating is spaced out very nicely, with the table-clothed tables keeping nice distance from one another in a good-sized, but not over-sized room, that seems to keep a low volume, which is a pleasure while dining. We had a few of the appetizers — I can’t recommend either the Caesar salad, which contained no slivers of parmesean, along with a rather bland Caesar dressing — or the French onion soup, which for some reason was made with Swiss, not Gruyère, cheese, and didn’t have much flavor. I was told that the beet salad was good, however. They also bring to the table chicken liver pâté and several pieces of Italian bread — seems that the loaf size doesn’t vary whether you are a party of 2 or 6, and the bread is right out of a Stewarts. Despite these shortcomings, the entrees are delicious. The filet mignon was done just right, and well portioned. The blackened swordfish was also delicious, although it was not exactly your traditional ‘blackened’ fashion. It was served with what seemed like a Cajun rice and beans, which oddly enough, worked well with the main course, Chicken picatta was also very tasty. The ½ portions are a plus, if you don’t think that you will be in a mood to be stuffed. I would have given the restaurant five stars, if it were not for the appetizer quality. Also, they seem to go off course with some selections, such as the Chicken Parm being topped with muenster cheese rather than mozzarella. All in all, an enjoyable meal in a very pleasant atmosphere. I would go back.

We love Jack’s. The service is exceptional and the food is consistently good to excellent. I love the complimentary pâté and crackers. We had the broiled salmon and haddock. The seasoning was good and it was cooked perfectly. The sides were very tasty. Jack’s is a sure bet for a good meal.

When some college friends and I decided to get together for a reunion dinner after over 20 years, when I was asked where would be a good place to meet, my only suggestion was Jack’s. The quality of the food and service, and the elegant, casual and mellow atmosphere made Jack’s the perfect spot in my mind, and as it turned out, everyone in our party(all first-timers other than myself) agreed. We were warmly welcomed by David and enjoyed drinks at the bar as we waited for everyone to arrive. Once seated, we took in the menu and made our choices. My friend Craig’s wife Molly was delighted by the new offering for fall, pumpkin ravioli. I ordered the baked stuffed shrimp for the first time, and was pleased by the blend of flavours in the stuffing, including crabmeat and finely chopped carrots. Great taste and texture. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, but steaks and seafood of all kinds are a real standout. I had posted on Facebook that we were coming in for dinner, and chef Christian Gates(a friend and former co-worker of mine, I should note) commented that we should pop in to the kitchen to say hi, so we did, and enjoyed the chef’s stories about his father’s experiences in the restaurant biz and a little about how Jack’s came to be. I’ve lived in this region for most of my life, and my choice of Jack’s American Bistro for our reunion dinner was informed by many experiences at many restaurants. Nowhere in the Glens Falls region provides the balance of elegance, atmosphere, and amazing food, drinks and service, all at a fair price. Jack’s was just where we needed to go to relax and swap stories. Try it and find out for yourself.

Clearly one of the best(and best kept secrets) of the area. This is a family run restaurant and beautiful bar. The steaks are amazing, but we always go back for the risotto. We have never had to wait, though reservations would be suggested for larger parties.

If you are looking for a warm, cozy, friendly atmosphere with excellent food… give Jack’s Bistros a try. Try one of Co-owner David’s fabulous martinis! Add some complimentary sharp cheese, crackers and a couple of lovely Greek olives. What a fabulous way to end a hectic day! You can feel comfortable dining alone at the bar. The regulars(including ME!) Are always happy to engage in conversation. The tables in the dining room are positioned just so to allow for sufficient privacy,(I hate to be sitting on top of my fellow diners, dont you?) And the lighted ficus trees make for a cozy dining experience. Co-owner/chef Christian never disappoints. His specials are creative and delicious. Beef & Bleu salad is one of my faves… but the beet salad is a close second! I have yet to try the lobster bisque(accompanied by a wee glass of sherry to add as you please) but fellow diners rave about it. The steaks and scallops are cooked to perfection! I have never had a bad meal here! Tried the lasagna last night for the first time-YUM!!! I have enough left over for another dinner! While I use Unilocal all the time, this is my first review. I hope you find it helpful! As many of you have led me to some fine dining experiences!

Jack’s Bistro is absolutely outstanding in every aspect. When I do choose to dine at a more pricier establishment, I expect the utmost quality in food & service and I got above & beyond what I expected! The Margarita Bread was great, the pasta and meatball meal tasted like fine Italian cuisine and the crème’ brûlée was fantastic. The service was nearly excellent– the waitress seemed a bit exhausted so I assumed any coldness on her behalf was just from being over-worked. Overall, the atmosphere was beautiful. I would absolutely recommend this place to everyone! Do not waste your time or money on chain restaurants, Jack’s is the best!

Nice after work crowd during happy hour with complimentary cheese, flat bread crisps and olives. We tried a flat bread pizza topped with grilled egg plant at the bar. A very friendly bartender and nice local bar crowd.

This place is a great place for a drink and the crowd is good. Bartender is fantastic. I’ve now eaten there twice though and the food is average at best. Had the strip steak last time and was underwhelmed. Chewey, cheap meat not worth the a la carte pricing. Liver Pâté was excellent, salad ok. I think you can do better at Montcalm for a steak although the atmosphere won’t be as good. I’d recommend to Jack’s to invest in some better quality cuts and then I’ll come back.
