Positives: The food is served quickly, hot and it is tasty. It is competitively priced. Very adequate portions. Endless coffee in my own carafe. Server was friendly and met my needs. The negatives: No WiFi, same menu since the restaurant opened well over 5 years ago. Same goes for the interior. Any restaurateur knows that they need to re-invent themselves every 5 years. This restaurant simply cuts back the hours. It’s breakfast time and there may be 20 people in the place. Sad

This place has a soft-spot in my heart, cuz this was where Cayle and I, sort of, had our first date. A retro-style 50’s diner, with all the ubiquitous kitsch of such places, they serve all the regular faire: burgers, malts, fries, I dunno: Vanilla Coke? The neat thing is: THEYHAVEBEER!!! Woo hoo! With all day lunch or breakfast, you really can’t go wrong. The veggie Benedict has Spanish olives — weird, but oddly good. 2 thumbs up, Chachi!

The coffee was weak & home fries bland(just add some onion people!) but service was friendly and attentive.

Sadly this is not the place to dine. The hours posted are not honored. We have actually run into this problem in the past so we called ahead before leaving home. We were told by the owner they were closing at 3PM. My husband and I have been frequenting this establishment for years at this point and are aware they do not honor the posted hours. When you call before heading out you expect that your going to be served. We walked in at 2:45 and were informed by the poor waitress that they had closed at 3. Confused I looked at my daughter, trapped my smartwatch(The time is set by my smartphone and uses the atomic clock or comparable baselines.) and see the time is as I thought. If your only going to serve food till a time before you actually close your door you really should post the time. Sadly after dining here many times we will no longer frequent the establishment.

Food is ok. Every time I’ve been here the owner is at the hostess stand and is not nice At all. No hello or smile and doesn’t treat people in general very nice. This alone makes me not want to go back.

4 Stars as a diner; fine dining it is not. The restaurant is open, yet sectioned into smaller seating areas. It is bright, checkerboard black and white tile, diner-style tables and booths. There are plenty of pictures on the wall and diner-style memorabilia. We came here twice in recent days, first for lunch, then a few days later, for breakfast. The service was decent each time. The prices are very reasonable. At lunch, we had the patty melt/fries and reuben/fries were good. My wife added a chocolate malt with whipped topping to her meal. She said it was quite good A few days later, we came in for breakfast. I had the«regular» French toast and link sausage while my wife had the cinnamon swirl version with links. Both were good. The location is in a shopping/strip mall. This means absolutely nothing. We like this place.

A cute 50s-style diner including all the deco and music! Friendly staff and a big menu — best for brunch, has a huge selection of American-style breakfast-y foods(omelets, pancakes, waffles, scrambles, mix-and-match, etc.). A/C is a bit too cold in the Summer, but lots of seating available.

This is the best place to go on the Northside, especially for breakfast. Racine isnt the classiest place, but this place is upbeat, has good food, variety, reasonably priced. A bad wait staff can be a do or die to a restaurant. I had Cindy several times and she was always super pleasant. It was like she cared about her job. Nice to see people with good attitudes!

I come here practically every day for lunch while I was working in Racine for a month. food comes out fast. so I’d rather come here than go to McDonalds across the car park. Hollandaise sauce on eggs benedict seems odd to me. so that was my first and last time ordering it. I pretty much get poached eggs, wheat toast, fruit and something else. I like their flavored soda. kona coffee is great.

Definitely an a-ok stop, epecially given the slim pickin’s in Racine. Essentially. It’s a Greek restaurant in «50’s diner» clothes. The interior is fresh, clean and quite nice — not what you might expect from the K-Mart strip mall location. Tables have boomerang Formica tops and the walls are coated with 50’s themed pictures. The menu is what you’d expect — breakfast, lots of sandwiches, burgers and melts along with a few diner classics like liver and meatloaf. Prices are fair. Our service was friendly and very efficient. The food is a-ok. Hubs had a respectable patty melt with nice crispy fries. I had an open faced turkey sandwich which came with a big bowl of soup. Here’s the thing — my turkey was from a bird(not a «loaf») and the mashed potatoes were real with lumps and skins present. To take these lovely things and drown them in that horrifying foodservice gravy is a sin. Disgusting gravy aside, I have no issues with the Douglas Ave Diner.

Douglas Ave. Diner is a soild little restaurant where you can get a decent breakfast, lunch or dinner. Nothing is mind blowingly good, but you’ll leave satisfied. I’ve been a few times and never left disappointed.

This place is always a favorite lunch spot for my husband and I since he works so close to it. It isn’t great but you can always get a decent meal, super friendly service and great coffee for a great price. I LOVE the chicken and dumpling soup which tastes homemade to me. I think they have it every day. Skip the salads. Lettuce is the only thing in them mostly.

Great food. Friendly staff and fast service. Price is reasonable as well. If you want a great breakfast hit up the north side.

Definitley in the style of a 50’s malt shop. Shiny tables, vinyl boothes, cheap food, what more can you ask for? I got the chicken avocado club with fries. The food was good, but the chicken breast was huge, overwhelmed the sandwhich. I’ll stop in again, especially since this place is a favorite of my uncles.

Great! I rate a diner by its hash browns, and these are crispy outside and moist inside. The Locarb skillet is amazing too! Just the place for a nonchain breakfast!

This place is a 50’s malt shop. The oldies music, the neat decorations displayed throughout are all designed to bring back memories. Try the burgers and malts. Sip with your date in the vinyl & chrome booths. This is where this place shines. The rest of the menu — not so great. Average at best.

I can only give this place two stars, but the north side of Racine is not rich in restaurants, so I do recommend it for a quick meal. The place is clearn, the staff friendly, and the food not bad.

There is nothing to not love about this place. It is a friendly and very clean neighborhood diner with a comfortable and varied menu. The staff is professional and friendly, the owners are wonderful and the atmosphere is fun. It is a solid place that I highly recommend! 1÷11÷13 — I upgraded my rating for this place to a 5-star. After reviewing on Unilocal for a while I have endeavored to rate restaurants more by what they’re trying to be rather than comparing apples to oranges. DAD has no sommelier, nor imported menu items nor cloth napkins but it is not trying to be an exclusive, upscale establishment — it is trying to be a family diner with a ‘50s theme. It does that as well as possible and they are almost always very busy.

I’m sure in Racine they can hang around for awhile. People here aren’t picky about good food. I had a stuffed french toast. The Main problem was the strawberry(they used some thick sugary saucy mess all over it) If you’re not going to do it right, please don’t have on the menu. At least I didn’t have the Meatloaf like my friend. the Menu said Homemade. Yeah right. There was no evidence of meatloaf like mom used to make, this looked like out of the grocer’s freezer. Based on the reviews before mine, no one seems to mind in Racine. But the service was very nice.

I eat here often and while it’s a teeny-tiny bit over priced for diner food, it’s accompanied by really good service. Clean and friendly.
