If you can get passed your typical group of white men in their mid to late 20s trying to look 40 and divorced on purpose this place is okay. Also you might hear a guy in plaid cargo shorts yelling«faggot» right before he rips his monster vape stick. They have a pool table, which would be nice but surrounding the entire perimeter there are about 5 other games that limit you from making any shot comfortably, because no matter what pocket you’re aiming for there’s a group of at least 4 guys loitering next to the dart board even if their not playing. Not to mention its 1.50 $ to play a game of pool. Because who wouldn’t pay to play pool in a 10 ft radius? Oh also if you have a vagina and you’re trying to play pool on the weekend get used to the feeling you’ll have when you bend over and the entire cargo shorts squad is attempting to stare inside your asshole with their x-ray vision while their girlfriends just mouth breathe and stare yelling in their higher pitched elevated«talking voice» because they«just can’t».But if none of this bothers you this place isn’t too bad. Good food. Alcohol. Decently priced.

Great food at fair prices. The Lambau Stew is a must try. Drink prices are a lil steep but the place is clean and the staff is great. I will definitely eat hear again.

This is an Irish Pub, with an English name, and Scottish Kilts. Yet it all comes together harmoniously with a hipster vibe. I stopped in here recently, and really enjoyed my visit. It was an off-time and there was a small but friendly crowed. Doug(the owner) swooped in, chatted-it-up, bought the bar a round, then took off again. Thanks Doug! On to the food… I had a ½ slab of ribs, with au gratin potatoes, a side salad, and cole slaw. The ribs were excellent! The meat was falling off the bones and slathered in delicious sauce. The au gratin potatoes were some of the best I’ve ever had. The side salad was very fresh. My one complaint: the side salad came on a tiny plate. This made it difficult to eat without making a mess. On second thought — maybe I’m just a slob. Needless to say this complaint won’t impact my rating. Service was top notch. If you haven’t tried Ivanhoe Pub and Eatery — YOUSHOULD! Doug, I can’t wait till you open your next venture(The Main Hub) it sounds awesome!

Wow! I had low expectations walking in off the street as the atmosphere was gloomy, the place smelled of old beer, and every patron was a screaming, drunk local, but the food here was incredible! My wife got a Reuben which was phenomenal and I got a burger with their special sauce(name eludes me… Jaco sauce??). It was one of the best pub burgers I ever had! I’m still craving it! Will definitely be returning when we’re in the area.

My boyfriend and I wanted to try somewhere new in Racine and came across Ivanhoe’s. We walked in at 6pm on a Tuesday and there was only one other couple in there. I am hoping it was so quiet because the weather was beautiful for the first time this year. We picked where we wanted to sit, each had a couple of beers and had a nice waitress. She was informative of the specials of the day and when you wear kilts on Tuesdays, Drinks are half off! I had Mahi Mahi Tacos, they were very good– had a good kick to them. My boyfriend had a Reuben and was no disappointed. Nice to see they had sweet potato fries as an option. The presentation was even nice for a bar; white, classy plates. Overall, we were satisfied. nothing over the top… but it was nice.

I’d love to be able to rate the food, but I can’t. Most likely the worst service I’ve ever encountered. It was 9:20 in the evening the grill closes at 10 there were maybe 15 people in the restaurant and I couldn’t get anybody to wait on me. I was completely ignored, even when I went up to the bar. my advice, don’t go there.

My husband and I came here for a late breakfast/early lunch. What a cool place! There are so many neat things in this pub, such as the stained glass window, and lamps from a horse drawn hearse! The food came out hot and in a short amount of time, and service was great. It is a unique pub with interesting history(read it on the menu), and we will definitely return. My only complaint is parking — metered on the street!

The waiter was a sweetheart and made sure we were taken care of the entire experience. We ordered the nachos with seasoned steak and it was absolutely amazing and lasted probably 3 minutes on the table. We also ordered the bacon mac and cheese, rueben and Shepards pie which were all phenomenal. The pie and mac came with a side salads that were good too. The service was on the same level. I wish I had gotten the guys name but he has a black hair and beard and glasses so if you see him ask for him! He also had a great sense of humor. Definitely will be back!

Stopped on the advice of friends. We were not disappointed. The bar is comfortable with a huge selection of spirits(especially whiskey) and 26 beer taps. We ordered a variety of foods including nachos with steak(yummy), bacon Mac n cheese(more yummy), Reuben(corned beef in an Irish bar, yes please), and the shepherds pie(yum yum). The food was great. Walk in and seat yourself, you’ll be glad you did.

In the land of all things fried and fatty the food was adequate at best. The pita was fried for the appetizer spread. The tilapia tacos were over seasoned. We requested half a bottle of wine to go since we were not finished. Per Wisconsin assembly bill 619 it allows patrons to cork and carry. The waitress and bartender told us they do not follow state law. We were told we could stay and over consume but they would not cork the wine for us to bring home. The wine did not require a cork since it was a twist off. Very disappointed and will not be returning for food or drinks.

My main concern with any Irish Pub is the quality of the Guinness and here I’m sorry to say it has been poor. I’m no expert but have come know enough to know poor quality in something I love. I’ve had Guiness from Ireland to my old home in Mass. to California and everywhere in between and have grown acutely aware of when it is off. This has happened to me here three times and each time I had hoped for more so gave the benefit of the doubt. The beer was old and off, you know the taste. It happened with another type of beer as well so the only thing I can guess is that the kegs are old or the lines are not properly cleaned. When I explained to the server and bartenders, as usual they took offense I wonder if most people in Racine just don’t know what Guinness or bad beer is supposed to taste like. I want to like this place, but 4 strikes and yer out!

Bartender Austin Schwartz posts on Facebook«maybe you get bad customer service because you’re a bad customer.» That basically sums up the place. Bartender spends more time chatting up his friends about how«his kilt makes his ball sack look huge and his d*** look ridiculous» instead of waiting on actual customers. Try somewhere else.

Great food. The atmosphere is relaxing and fun. Bacon on Thursdays with a drink. Ha who would have known that is such a great idea!

Hit and miss in terms of service. They have a better selection than most bars in downtown Racine and make some good cocktails. I’ve heard this before and now last time I was there I experienced the rumored terrible service. By no means was the bar packed, and it took 10 minutes to order a drink standing at the bar and 15 for one of my friends. By the second drink we closed out our tabs and it was the first time I’ve ever NOT left a tip. Up to this point, I haven’t had much negative to say about Ivanhoe, but this recent visit left a bad lasting impression.

As bars go this place has everything– a great staff, a huge back bar, tons of taps & craft bottles. For a hangout? It’s just never been my vibe. But it is a hell of a bar, just not my scene… That said: when it’s restaurant time, this place really delivers. I’ve tried a good 2⁄3 of their menu, and all the apps, and never have I had a single bite of bad food! Never! Some highlights are the ahi tacos, the shrimp balsamic toast points, and the shepherds pie, but honestly everything is not just good, but between flavor and presentation, it’s almost special. Speaking of special, the menu constantly rotates a bit, seasonally, as does the beer menu. What doesn’t change is the secret«Ivanhoe Jamison sauce» — put it on anything !! It’s so damn good!

I wouldn’t make it a point to come here. Everything is just okay, and I am sure the bars next door could be better than Ivanhoe’s. The menu seems to be filled with what appears to be a long craft beer selection, but once you’d had them all you are out of luck. If you like to use Untapped, this is not the place for you. It will be hard for you to find a new beer on their list because the beers don’t rotate seem often. Apparently you can buy(or receive, but that’s the part I don’t understand) tokens for the bar. The token serves as a $ 4 rail drink or beer. Keep in mind, if your drink is $ 5, you will then be paying $ 1, if you cash in your token. I think you’d have better service at Ivanhoe’s if you sat at the bar rather than at a table. If you are looking to play a game, they offer bar Janga it’s a huge wooden set, too.

In from out of town and were referred here by some folks at another bar. We all had a lot of fun. Service was great, shot some darts, played some music. Overall good experience.

I enjoy coming here for occasional martinis with some friends. My favorites are the Dirty Martini(Extra Dirty) and the Naughty Girl Scout. Geeeeez these are not good names… haha The waiter was very friendly, funny, and attentive. The drinks are good, décor is nice and the customers were friendly. I do enjoy the downtown area and the location is great for bar hopping.

Overall a decent experience at Ivanhoe. I went with a large group(10) on a Saturday early evening(5:30 reservations). The place was empty. By the time we left around 7:30, a few patrons had come in. The place looks tiny from the outside but is actually fairly large. The space really suffers from a lack of brightness. There was plenty of light, but all the furniture and floors and walls were dark and made me feel closed in. Ivanhoe has a long history as an Irish pub in Racine, it’s on the back of the menu. They have quite a few taps available, and a small wine list. The wine serving I received was fairly generous. Our server was pleasant. The menu really lacks vegetarian and health-friendly options. The only vegetarian choice(other than deep-fried appetizers like cheese curds, etc) was a portabella sandwich. The three main entrée salads all had meat. I wasn’t in the mood for portabella. The menu is mainly burgers and sandwiches. They offer one fish option, a cod fish fry with Guinness beer batter. I asked the server about the fish and he told me it was fresh and brought in daily. Ivanhoe didn’t strike me as a top seafood place. To my pleasant surprise, my fish was very good. I did have to request tartar sauce, and the rye bread was stale, but the fish was quite good. They offer either sweet potato fries or tatertots as the potato side. I opted tatertots. The portion was plenty, but I noticed my companions who ordered sweet potato fries got a very small portion. I was also pleasantly surprised with presentation and the side salad. Nice white places I would have expected at an upscale restaurant. Very intentional presentation of the salads. Several of my companions ordered the reuben and expressed their disappointment by leaving most of the sandwich on their plates. Kevin K. told me his reuben was terrible. Given the mixed reviews of the food and the uncomfortableness of the décor, I award Ivanhoe 3 stars — decent and middle of the road, fine for a friendly dinner, but no place to celebrate an anniversary.
