Took my 2011 Volvo C70 (34k miles) to get a wheel alignment. Received a call 20 minutes later stating that I needed new tie rods. Told George not to touch the car that I would take it to my mechanic and get a second opinion. Upon picking up the car he charged me $ 21.00. Next day took the car to my mechanic, he recommended a different place, took the car there in the morning done by 10:30AM. I asked the mechanic about the tie rods and told him the story I received from George at STS, well he just laughed. Too bad, we have 5 cars in our family and STS Rahway is just down the road. NEVER AGAIN. Silk suit with a crocodile smile!

The new manager, George thinks he is real smooth talker but he doesn’t actually fix the problem. I have returned 3 times for the same issue. He keeps making excuses and gives me a condescending attitude. He seriously will not stop talking and just listen. I spent $ 1200 and am putting up with a lot of stress and inadequacy. When I went there today another customer in front of me was complaining that they hadn’t fixed his problem right, either. This place is a sinking ship and needs serious help. They’re taking the priority away from customer satisfaction and placing it God knows where else.

I got a flat tire a few weeks ago while visiting my parents in Rahway. It wasn’t fully flat so I drove over to STS since it was close by. Granted it was a Friday afternoon and I could see they were busy, but I figured I would see how long the wait was. The guy at the counter told me it would be about an hour or two, so I asked if I could just put my spare tire on and bring the flat one back and drop it off to which he agreed was a better idea.
I swapped the tire out and drove right back to drop off the flat. After waiting my turn, I told the counter person I was dropping off the flat tire (it was the same guy and it had only been 20 minutes). He looked confused for a minute but then told me to bring the wheel up to one of the garage bays. I did as he said, and stood outside of the closed garage doors in 30 something degree weather for a few minutes until I realized he nor anybody else was going to take the wheel. I stepped back inside to see if he was going to write me a ticket or take my information, but instead he was taking other customers whose cars were ready. Understandable, they had been waiting. So I let him take a customer or two, but by the third customer he took ahead of me I had enough and rolled my tired away. I’m really not an impatient or unreasonable customer, but would it have been so difficult to take my information, bring the wheel inside the shop and send me on my way? That would take maybe 90 seconds, 120 tops.
At least one of the garage employees who was outside having a smoke, seemed concerned that I hadn’t been helped but I was already loading the wheel back into my truck. I’m sure losing a $ 20 patch job isn’t a big deal, but when I need a set tires for my new truck, I’ll be shopping elsewhere.

Came in for an oil change. They were quick (~30 mins) and pleasant to work with. This has been my go to place for most quick repairs and new tires and I’ve never felt like I’ve been duped or left with a bad deal.

I love the service that Gordon and Maurice give me. Though I may bug them with 102 questions. …they take the time to answer and explain. I really appreciate that. Great customer service! And that’s why I will continue to bring them business.

What a idiot! I called earlier, to set up a time for a tire change, and this guy told me to just come in. I finally get there and this fool tells me, he can’t see us today because he has two cars, one guy is getting off (like i care) and he has 4 tire changes! He dudnt even apologize for the inconvenience, he just said «who said that» with a I couldnt care less attitude. Because of their unprofessional ways, my plans have shifted! Stay away from them, they obviously dont care about customer service.

I’ve been using STS for oil changes, tires, and minor work for a few years now. I just brought my Jeep in for an oil change and tire rotation. When I picked it up, the steering wheel, gear shifter and door handle (basically anything that the mechanic touched) were left with a thick coating of dirt that was disgusting. This has happened in the past and I’ve usually just cleaned it when I got home, but this time it was too much.
Come on Gordon, what’s going on? You guys can do better than this.

Gordon and his team are just awesome — the friendliest and most honest guys you’d want to meet.
I was raised by a wrench head father who did all the work on my cars for the cost of parts. When I moved to Rahway in 2010, I was most definitely spoiled when it came to my car — and incredibly worried about getting ripped off.
The first time I brought my car into STS was for a tire. After shopping prices in the area, they were the cheapest for my car at $ 75 (brand new tire). My boyfriend and I were immediately happy with the treatment we received from the Manager, Gordon. He was friendly, personable and professional. We were so impressed, they were our first call when we started having problems with the brakes.
Let me rephrase that: we had been having problems with the brakes for a little while but we were finally at the point where we HAD to do something about it. In fact by the time we brought the car in, we needed all 4 sets of brakes completely redone. The price was good and the work was outstanding — very fast!
We’ve been bringing our car to this shop ever since — for anything from big jobs to oil changes. The only thing we aren’t able to bring the car in for is electrical work — which is a shame. I really wish I could make this the sole place I bring my car.
