I rarely give one star reviews, mainly because we do our research on places and a good meal should not be left to chance! We have been to this diner before, my husband has been been coming here for at least 20 plus years, the last time we visited was over a year ago, and it was a solid Jersey diner. We came for breakfast on a Saturday morning and the lot was crowded, we were hoping it wasn’t going to be bad inside, plenty of seats, seated immediately. The waitress came by took our drink and food orders … took about 15 minutes for a coffee and hot chocolate to come, OK get a pass on that one, but not giving up hope at this point. Now approaching 30 minutes into being seated, people who had come after us had been served food, and they had sent the bacon back, overhearing the conversation … this doesn’t even look like bacon. The waitress comes to apologize to us, stating they just got slammed in the kitchen. We started doing a little Unilocal research, seeing the low ratings they had gotten recently. Now broaching 35 minutes into being seated and still no food, we were going to bail, and the food arrived. We should have left. The order was improperly cooked — I had one egg(over medium) with bacon and potato hash. Egg was barely an over easy, bacon was soggy. My husband ordered a ham & cheese omelette with french fries and a side of brown gravy. Instead he got an omelette which was runny and potato hash. The order was written correctly, the kitchen obviously did not care about what was on the ticket to send out the right order. Shame. The waitress was very apologetic about us having to wait, she comped us our drinks. Unfortunately new ownership does not seem to care about its patrons, or the food they put out.

Everyone that lives in the Rahway area knows about the famous Galaxy diner on St George’s ave and to stay as far away as possible from it. It’s awful. Need a place to eat after a night of drinking at the club? Drive a mile down the road to Denny’s. The only somewhat positive thing I can think of to say about this place is that you’ll never have to wait to be seated here folks! The food stinks, the waitresses are bitter, and the owners of this place are completely devoid of business sense. The location, on the other hand, is great. The Galaxy sees plenty of passing traffic and that is the only logical explanation of it still being in business. You’ve been warned.

GREASY, GREASY, GREASY. Eggs & bacon undercooked. Potatoes smelled bad. Cinnamon on cappucino which I did not request(remade). Should have returned food and left. Never again.

My waitress looked like she was wasted off meth utensils where filthy food was not impressive at all! All the waitresses looked miserable. I walked in and had to seat myself! Overpriced is fine as long as the food is good. But defintly a NOGO!!!

If I could give this place negative stars I would! The décor is nice as they have remodeled. However, they need to remodel their staff and cooks. I don’t know how it’s possible to screw up a grilled cheese, but it looked like a sandwich my 6 year old nephew would make for me. It was flat and dry. My friend had the pulled pork sandwich and there was nothing«pulled» about this sandwich. The pork was in chunks and there was fat on the pieces so he had to take it off the roll and cut the pieces just to eat them. Every tray that came out of that kitchen looked unappetizing.

Usually good diner food. Service can be iffy pending on waitress attitude. Management pleasant. Be careful to watch bill had discrepancy waitress charged regular price breakfast for two 5 yr old breakfasts. Grrrr

Typical Jersey Diner except 4 out of the 6 became sick soon after we ate there — we had french toast and pancakes, not sure what it was but it definitely didn’t leave us feeling good!

This place is terrible. And don’t let anyone fool you into thinking otherwise. You see all these 1-star reviews? They are SPOTON. Never in my life have I seen a restaurant fail on EVERY level — bland food; disgustingly dirty tables, floors and bathrooms; horrible service; overpriced mediocrity. We came in on Mother’s Day for dinner. The place was empty. There was debris on the floors. We were shown to our table, which hadn’t been wiped down from the last guests. A waitress, in the middle of her shift meal a table over, was summoned to wipe off the table. The table remained sticky and dirty. She went back to eat(no hand washing occurred). The menus were laid down on the table, also dirty and not wiped down. We all ordered from our waitress who reeked of cigarettes — yum! Different waitress from the one who«wiped down» the table — she was still eating and complaining loudly about other coworkers. Our waitress took our orders and in about 15 minutes were started to receive our bland and tasteless food. Typically women are served first, or the group is served all at once. Neither happened. 4 of the 5 plates we ordered came out. The last person to be served was… Mom! On Mother’s Day! Way to go guys. I write this not hoping that the Galaxy Diner will change their ways — they had the chance«under new management». It got worse. I write this to warn all to stay away from this place. Faaaaaaaar away.

We stopped by this diner late last night(Friday) for a light dinner. How disappointing! The food was filling and fresh, but bland bland bland. how can you make a bland cole slaw? it should be tangy and contrast well with the sandwich, instead it was just a largish portion of watery cabbage. One forkful was enough. I had a chicken quesadilla, which had as much flavor as styrofoam. it had big chunks of chicken and a modest amount of mild cheddar, but no other detectable seasoning, and was heated just till the cheese melted, without creating any interesting texture or flavor on the tortilla. It was served with a very ordinary salsa(think out of a very large bottle), and a small salad of iceberg lettuce, chopped mealy tomatoes, and shredded mild cheddar. I think maybe the cooks were out of onions, peppers, herbs and salt! My husband enjoyed his blt, as the bacon was fresh and plentiful, but the fries were a little undercooked, obviously made from frozen, and again, unseasoned. Also the place has lost its liquor license, so no beer was available. It was a shame to see how far the Galaxy has declined. No one seems to care about making the food worth eating, and there’s no other reason to be there.

Horrible service — mediocre food. This place was never great and now it’s just plain awful. Two waiters were arguing over who would have to serve us; the soup was obviously watered down and the décor makes your eyes hurt. Forget it!

Waitress actually questioned why they hired the bus boy. Then proceeded to forget about us. After the below average food she thanked us for being patient because«it’s crazy today» there was literally 3 tables. Would not recommend. Also, there is a «under new management» sign out front. I’m sure the«for sale» sign will follow soon. Was honestly waiting for John Taffer to come out and start yelling.

Newly opened and worse than ever. Had to wait 45 minutes for eggs and pancakes. When they came the were horribly cooked. Pancakes and eggs had to be sent back and when returned were still very bad. Don’t waste your time even considering this poor excuse for a diner. Owner is oblivious to the poor quality and disappointed customers. Stay away. Go to any other diner in New Jersey.

By all that is good and fuzzy, what a difference four years can make! During my last visit to this diner, business was robust, food was good, service was fantastic and there was generally a fantastic vibe to the place. On my most recent visit, you could tell things have gone downhill to the extreme. First, the place was nearly empty on a Sunday afternoon — which is odd for most diners in New Jersey. Second(and I confess I didn’t notice a lot of this until I went to the rest room and walked through the length of the restaurant) they are simply *missing* a lot of things you’d expect in a diner. The glass case that would normally have candy? Some odd gum brand I’ve never heard of and receipts. The glass case that would’ve normally had fresh pastries in it? Half full of a sad collection of prepackaged pastries(what is this, a bodega?). The cake stands — all empty. Also normally the area behind the counter should be stocked up with… something, be it packets of hot chocolate or other products, but this one was conspicuously empty. Then the rest room itself — they have soap dispensers mounted on the walls — with no soap in them. Instead, bottles of soap were on the side of the sink. Want towels to dry your hands? Sorry — there was just a roll of toilet paper by the sink. In old Chinatown restaurants this is expected, in a diner in New Jersey not so much. I will say this — service was good. Our waitress was very friendly and genuinely seemed like she wanted to make our experience a good one. Unfortunately, she had to contend with a kitchen that was out of wraps(which my girlfriend was going to order), cajun waffle fries and onion rings. It was a comedy of errors as I kept asking for stuff and she kept telling me they were out. I finally settled on a turkey burger with fries and chili on top. The burger was… okay. I’ve made better at home. There was some sad iceberg lettuce in it but at least it was filling. The fries were… okay, nothing great — but the chili on top was(I am convinced) not chili but sloppy joe or Manwich mix. It didn’t have any heat or thickness of chili and there were no beans. It was just ground beef, sweet tomato sauce and some bits of onions. Speaking of tomatoes, the ketchup we were given was«America’s Best» or something like that(a supermarket brand) and literally dribbled out of the squeeze bottle as soon as I pointed it down. Contrast that with the table next to us who had a nice bottle of Heinz. Go figure. By the time we left, I felt sad. The cashier actually asked me how everything was and frankly, I didn’t have the heart to go into a verbal tirade in front of other customers. Galaxy used to be better than this, but sadly now it’s a place to avoid.

Yeah I don’t think so. This place is close to me and after my 3rd visit here, its my last. The place is aging — the carpets are just beyond filthy and when I grabbed the back of my chair to move it, it was sticky. The food is not good either; I guess if you’re going in for pancakes its fine but each time I go, my food is just bad. Went Sunday morning for breakfast with my boyfriend and he ordered french toast. It was fine, you can’t really mess that up. I ordered an egg scramble that came in a big skillet. Everything inside was runny, and not because of the eggs. it had no flavor so I needed to drown it in ketchup. Had to flag down my waiter to get a coffee refill and then overheard two other employees getting into it. There are much better diners to visit than here, so I’ll be heading elsewhere.

Homemade corned beef hash with eggs — my all time favorite diner breakfast. When I saw that the hash wasn’t some over salted canned stuff(which I gladly eat when there’s no other option) — I was pretty excited. That alone makes the Galaxy worthy of a visit. The breakfast menu changed since the last time I was here(four years ago). The next time I come in I’ll definitely go with one of the new skillets. The all sounded amazing. My wife and I also split a Belgian waffle — no complaints there either. It was served nice and hot with warmed maple syrup. The service here was fantastic too. For breakfast or even some diner food — without a doubt give it a shot.

A typical diner, or so I’m told. This place was hot, like lets not use the air conditioner to save on bills, hot. My food was not good and it was cold but it was a New Jersey experience I had wanted. And I got it! My friend was pleased as punch to have a chocolate egg cream. She had lived on the east coast before so she knew what we were getting into. The foodie in me was determined to give the local fare a shot, so I ordered a burger and fries with a New Jersey touch. Taylor ham is a staple of life in New Jersey. Go in any Jersey diner for breakfast and you will have your choice of eggs, any style, with bacon, sausage or Taylor ham. For the uninitiated, Taylor ham is actually the brand name for pork roll. John Taylor invented the original Taylor ham in Trenton, New Jersey in the late 1800s. Another jersey thing… Disco fries. French fries topped with brown gravy and cheese curds. Service was cordial, but the waitress didn’t seem at all interested in being there. The food came fast. Too fast. The burger was good. Average good. My fries tasted old and they were cold, so was the gravy. I was disappointed but happy I got to try out taylor ham and disco fries. If you’re not a native, give it a whirl!
