Food Truck Tuesday: this weeks stop Chick-N-Que I have visited this food truck a few times now and was craving it after I saw the list of options this week. I ordered the dinner plate which included eastern style chopped chicken BBQ, 2 sides(I opted for the potato salad and green beans), a roll and soda(pepsi or coke, you have options but lets just me honest coke is better) for only $ 10! This is a great deal for a food truck! Plus, it was delicious! I really enjoyed the potato salad it was dressing based instead of being sour cream or mustard based. I definitely recommend this truck!

Stopped by at Shell gas station and found this resto next to it. They have chairs and tables inside. I asked what is a chopped chicken and the older lady kept on repeating«it’s chicken chopped» repeatedly until somebody said«it’s like pulled pork.» Ordered Ostritch burger and you would not know your eating a bird. Loved the chopped chicken burger some found it a little spicy. I would go back for a pound of this chopped chicken. Also not too sour. Also got fried chicken gizzard — the best, wish they made liver too. If you like pulled pork try this. You’ll definitely enjoy.

Had no idea chicken bbq can be *that* good! Got the alurm cluck and it was large, expertly topped chicken thigh sandwich, had just enough smoke flavor, just a tad charred, all very good. The habanero kick was a real kick, oh yes, and can’t wait to try the 5 buck bbq cup !

We got a piping hot cup of bbq chicken for $ 5 and were pleasantly surprised by the smoky and sweet flavor. Definitely the best pulled chicken I’ve had in NC, although I wished they had a specialty bbq sauce.

One of my favorite food trucks. The fact that the BBQ is made out of chicken won’t even enter your mind. The BBQ has such great flavor and just enough kick, that it will have you coming back again and again. Every time I go, I get a chick-n-que sandwich with slaw and fries. A coworker friend of mine has gotten other things there and claims it is all good. Plus, they are extremely friendly. I hit them up whenever they come close to my work!

I’ve seen the Chick-N-Que truck around and was delighted to find them outside of a building where I had just come from an interview. Just in time for lunch too! I got a cup of Que and some fries. The Que was perfectly spiced and delicious! The fries were okay, but super greasy. I had asked for slaw, but they forgot to give it to me. While Chick-N-Que isn’t my favorite truck, I would definitely recommend it!

Amazing BBQ! No pork here, just chicken, although they also have ostrich burgers(random but cool). I got the BBQ sandwich with slaw and a side of fries. The chicken was juicy and tender. The slaw was fresh. The sauce was your typical vinegar-based Eastern NC style sauce but with a giant kick of spiciness! The fries were crinkle cut, just the way I like them(a substantial portion with seasoned salt). I got the sandwich, fries, and a diet pepsi for only $ 8 which I think is quite affordable, as these were substantial portions. But the lady behind me in line was complaining that the black bean burger was too expensive.(Um, maybe you should get the chicken next time.)

I enjoy chick n que, I’ve been a few times and I’m always disappointed when its in my area and I don’t realize it until they are gone. I usually get the sandwich with slaw and fries. The fries are always hot and crispy. The chicken que can had a little kick sometimes. I’ve been meaning to try the bird’s nest but for some reason I can’t get past the sandwich, maybe next time.

My 1st time at the truck i had the ostrich burger and not the chick-n-que but it was awesome! My kid had The Bird’s Nest and of course after seeing a pile of fries covered in melted cheese and topped with chicken BBQ, I had to dive in. I never thought this mix could be so good but it was amazing. Very quick service and a bunch of nice guys… we’ll be back for sure.

I’m rather fond of food trucks that show up at my office once per week. Chick-N-Que offers a particularly delicious lunch that is absolutely terrible from a healthy food perspective. Eastern-NC style BBQ chicken is very good — particularly served over fries with cheddar cheese. Not something I would call a classy meal, but very good nonetheless. The prices were also reasonable, and service was very quick — even by food truck standards. It’s certainly worth trying.

I went to Chick-N-Que on NC State’s campus with a coworker and we both enjoyed it. We both had the Chick-N-Que sandwich; NC eastern style chopped chicken with slaw. It was very good. The sauce had plenty of red pepper and a nice bite. The crinkle cut fries were very crispy. Yummy. We’ll be back!

While it was nice to have a food truck working in RTP on a Monday, the food I had today was only average. Attila the Hen was a little light on the chicken. Cheese fries were just your normal cheese fries. Good size serving for $ 4. Had a good sized line to wait and most got the Chicken sandwich combo — will need to try that if I do again.

This is one of the best food trucks I’ve seen in Durham. I ordered the ostrich sandwich and it was amazingly good: lightly smoked, flavorful, some crunchiness, etc… A perfect sandwich. The service was also very fast. I am eager to try their other sandwiches and dishes.

The best thing about this food truck, for me, has got to be the value. We hit it up at the recent DCP food truck rodeo… we’d already gotten a bbq sandwich from another vendor, so we opted for the grilled chicken sandwich instead. For only $ 7, we were served a big hunkin’ sandwich along with a side of fries. Definitely a steal. We thought the sandwich was fresh and filling, the chicken had a smoked flavor, and we liked the Ranch dressing on it. The menu item was billed as having a jalapeño kick, but it must have been mild, because we didn’t notice it.

This being the first time I’ve: 1. Eaten at Chick-N-Que 2. Eaten chopped BBQ chicken 3. Eaten eastern Carolina style BBQ and actually liked it 4. Visited a food truck in the rain 5. Ordered a completely filling meal, side AND drink from a food truck for only $ 7 I have to say, I’m pretty impressed. The owner of the truck couldn’t have been nicer and really appreciated the visit on a rainy day. Turns out they’ve been in business for quite a while, but just started to go truly«mobile.» I ordered the Chick-N-Que combo, which came with an original Chick-N-Que sandwich(chopped BBQ chicken topped with cole slaw), fresh crinkle fries and a drink(I chose an Arnold Palmer) for only $ 7. It was delicious and probably one of the cheapest deals around from a stationary OR mobile restaurant. They also have some other options including fried chicken sandwiches, healthier grilled chicken pitas, ostrich sandwiches(???) and chili. Definitely recommend, especially if Eastern-style BBQ isn’t usually your thing. He even offers a money back guarantee if you don’t like the ‘cue!

BBQ lovers! Hear my cry. Be on the lookout for an emerging super star in BBQ food truck scene! A few of us went to Big Boss Taproom tonight(Thursday Jan-25) for the official tapping of the Big Operator; after a few pints down, and feeling famished, we ventured outside to the now regularly attended food truck participation. My friends headed over to Only Burger for the vegetarian choice, but I spotted a name interestingly unfamiliar: Chick-N-Que. WHAT A CLEVERNAME! Now you know exactly what they are selling. Their namesake on the menu is the chopped chicken barbecue sandwich, with or without coleslaw, but trust me, you would want the slaw. But don’t you think for one second you got this food truck figured out. Ernest and Queen, the proprietor of the business, stated on their website that this idea«birthed from an overwhelming response to food served at football party,» and this«guarded family recipe» has some pretty unique and savory taste. You like hot dog? Ever tried a chicken dog? How about an «Artisan» chicken sausage? I just had their chicken apple sausage dog, and it was quite interesting. Philly steak, in NC? Meh. Been there, done that. Now, how about some ostrich steak Philly? Yeah. Got your attention now didn’t I? Now let me seal the deal with the introduction of the white chicken chili, grilled chicken breast, seasoned and shredded, simmering in diced tomato, cilantro and white kidney beans and topped off with fried tortilla strips and shredded cheddar. Yeah. That’s the stuff. So. Follow. Their. Truck! or Twitter, whichever you think is easier(and easier on gasoline refill.)
