When waiting at RDU airport there are a fair amount of places to grab a bite to eat or get drink, one of them being Gordon Biersch. If you are looking for something not too fancy but not bottom of the barrel, I say go with GB for a good average but solid meal, drinks, and beer experience. The chain is known for their beers for the most part, and that would be their strong point. If you want to hang and chill with a beer, head for GB. Their main five craft beers they make/sell include Golden Export(a lighter beer), Schwarzbeir(dark lager), Märzen(a bit sweet, malt finish), Czech Pilser(a bit bitter, described as bold/spicy), and the one I get regularly the Hefeweizen(a German wheat beer). The Hefeweizen here is great stuff in my experience, and the main reason I stop in when I have time(I’ll come back to that later). The food, pretty good and a little bit above average bar selections but does the trick… what you would expect at an airport chain. The burger is very greasy so expect to use up a number of napkins on eating one. The roasted turkey and Swiss is pretty good choice if you want a substantial sandwich. I do like the homemade chips here as well. The biggest thing to consider here is that GB is not a fast stop for airport food. I would think that there would be faster reaction time when someone gets seated to get at least the drink order, not to say the whole meal order itself. Once you order, again do not expect a fast turnaround on getting the meal out. The time factor matters to a traveler. They have the potential to almost be a four star venue if they could just get the service time to match the customer expectation for quick turnaround at an airport during travel. Bottom line: Gordon Biersch is a good place to get one of their craft beer selections if you have the time, as they do not have quick turnaround time for meals, etc. The food is good, a little bit above average bar food and it gets the job done. I’d revisit my review here if they improved the service turnaround time but for now GB gets a solid 3 star A-OK rating from me now.

This food was absolutely vile. I ordered the steak and tempura shrimp and the I really thought the steak would make me me sick. The meat itself did not smell good at all, it smelled like it was going bad. There was so much fat and gristle on the steak that I could hardly chew it. I didn’t want to eat it but my hunger got the best of me. The mashed potatoes were very strange tasting and they tasted as if they had been reheated multiple times. Also the garlic fries were nothing special but I ordered them to replace the mashed potatoes.

I’ve had consistently good food here, but the service is hit or miss. Always pleasant and accurate, but sometimes too slow for airport pace. The Kobe beef burger is a good burger, although not any more so than some good regular beef burgers I’ve had. The crab cake appetizer is very good. A nice medium texture with mild flavor(not super fishy). I asked a couple of times for my bill while employees were chitchatting and there was no sense of urgency.

Steak sandwich. Steak tasted livery. Wanted it mid rare but it came well done. I would have complained if the server had ever come back to ask me. Garlic fries are fries with garlic thrown on top. Ugh. Ciabatta roll was rubbery and gross. Why bother running a restaurant?

Terrible food. Ordered potato soup and wedge salad… both safe bets I figured. The soup was bland and only had about 3 pieces of potato. The salad was a chunk of iceburg, half frozen, with blue and bacon and nothing more. Disappointed.

I grabbed a crabcake sandwich with garlic fries to go from here around noon earlier today before my flight back home to Philly. I ate my fries first and they were good. The sandwich was initially good too. until I came across a mile-long hair baked into my crabcake. The million crab shells were annoying enough, although I do appreciate knowing that they used real crab. But I definitely could have done without that nasty hair. Would have gotten at least 4 stars if it weren’t for that and at 23,000 feet in the air it’s not like I could go back and ask for a refund. I was so grossed out. Avoid this place.

I was waiting for my plane back home and got to the airport with a little spare time so I stopped in here to grab a quick bite. I must say– the service was super fast! Very pleasant server too. I ordered the sliders which were pretty damn good. No complaints at all about this place. If you’re ever at Raleigh airport and walk by this spot– stop in!

Yay ! To the beer and boo to their food. Having a drink before a long flight was awesome. However the food left a lot to be desired and kinda made me sorry I had not eaten at the hotel before heading to RDU. Next time it’s Jason Deli’s for me it will probably be a better use of my $$$.

Not a good visit. Never god the beer I ordered. The kobe burger was ordered medium-well, but it arrived charred to a crisp. The fries tasted like they were made the week prior. My waitress disappeared half way through the meal. The very loud female manager spent most of her time on her cell phone and conducted her management business in the restaurant instead of behind closed doors. I’ll stick to the other bar from now on when in RDU.

I payed $ 22.00+ for a small steak and 5 pcs of shrimp. Shrimps are good and very tasteful but the steak lacks flavor. I also got plastic utensils which is a NO-GO for me. I rate my food 5 out of 10

One person took my order and another brought my drink, which was the last anybody stopped at my table. Fifty minutes later after no service or food I flagged a server, asked for my check, and went elsewhere. At least they comped my drink. I observed another forgotten customer whose food wasn’t delivered in a timely manner. The whole operation appeared very chaotic & unorganized.

As far as airport restaurants go, this is pretty good. They’ve got great beer, and the american style Kobe burger I had wasn’t a revolutionary culinary accomplishment, but it filled me up, and has left me ready for my flight. The garlic fries were pretty good, I generally prefer my fries a bit crispy, but the flavor of these made up for the weakness texturally. That’s all I have to say about that.

The service is just TERRIBLY slow! I stood at the host’s table for 5 mins at 7 pm on a Thursday and finally the hostess showed up and I asked for a table for 1. Another 10 mins and I don’t even know who my server is. I mean cmon people! This isn’t Hawaii or something where I’m seated to relax. I want a drink and meal before my flight. I asked one of the servers who my server is and there she is — part time hostess at front desk and part time server. That’s convenient(not)! I obviously have read the menu five time and order entrée with a drink. Poof! She disappeared after taking my order and 30 mins go by. Now the restaurant isn’t full so I tag her down and ask what’s going on — another 5 mins and I get my food. My margarita tasted horrible — it has nothing going on and this is a margarita. How can you really screw it up. As bland and sad it tasted, I really didn’t want to pay even $ 5 for it — and it cost $ 20ish. Seriously? Oh that’s not the worst part. I get a barbeque salmon on a plastic-ish plate and definitely plastic silver ware with that. If I was at a Panera bread or Jason’s deli, I’ll take that. But seriously, you charge me $ 19 for an entrée and give me something that isn’t serving the purpose. I asked for hot sauce(as the food had no whatsoever taste to it) and that showed up when I’m done eating everything, I didn’t even ask for the check and just handed her my credit card yo ring me up. Terrible service and I’m never going back. So as I said in my check in, I’ve been here twice now — first and last time. They gotta realize it’s an airport location — you gotta be quick and serve what people are paying for — that’s not the name but the quality of food and drinks!

The beer is OK. The bartender is very nice. Problem: there was only ONE bartender. She had no help. It was taking 5−10+ minutes just to get an order in and a beer poured while sitting at the bar. The food is ok. Go here if 42nd St and the Ale House don’t have any bar seats available.

RDU wagu beef, is certainly not wagu — sorry. Very slow service. Lettuce knob served along with the salad. Not bad NY Strip sandwich. But the lettuce knob in the salad really caught me off guard, and waiting 40 minutes for our food, begging for water refills and the slow billing… Didn’t make a 5 hour lay over in RDU any easier. Better luck next time. I DISLIKE so much giving sad reviews!

A few reasons why I am not a huge fan: 1. Bartender was not friendly. 2. My soup was served SCALDING hot that I burned my tongue on the first sip two minutes after it being served. 3. My ~$ 8 wedge salad was the saddest little salad that I’ve ever had. Seriously was half a lettuce of head, a tablespoon of bluecheese crumbles, some blue cheese dressing, and a tablespoon of bacon bits. NOTHING else. No tomatoes, eggs, etc that you’d normally find. Very disappointing experience!

Good airport food! I got the BBQ chicken sandwich. It was really good! The garlic fries were good-but a little too garlic-y. The service was good, even though the place was crowded when we arrived. Overpriced airport food, but still good.

This restaurant is located in the Raliegh-Durham airport. I stopped in to waste time while traveling and that is exactly what the experience was — a waste of time! Originally I ordered the spinach dip, well after the wait staff got done sweeping and whispering long enough to actually take our order. The beer was fine, and they have a lot of beer choices which may be a big deal to beer fanatics. Back to the spinach dip. One word: yuck! I NEVER send food back but that dip had to go! There was zero taste to it, and even the bread chips were bad tasting. I did get the burger sliders to replace the dip, and they were just ok. The food is overpriced for what you get, and service is just bad!

Hungry and thirsty before a 10:30 flight on a Saturday morning, what’s a couple to do? Ask the bartender here if we can order something besides breakfast, and be glad to hear YES, and to be told to sit wherever we like. We decided to share the crabcake sandwich with garlic fries(after convincing the waiter that YES we could order something that wasn’t breakfast-he sure wouldn’t take our word for it that the Bartender said yes… he went and checked with the Chef… okay Server, whatever you have to do to not bring us eggs, is okay with us!) . Husband loved his breakfast Dunkelweizen, and I was happy with my breakfast juice of choice… Sterling Chardonnay. When the sandwich arrived, I confess my first reaction was oh no, that’s a giant ball of fried filler. However, when we cut into it(we banned the bun to spare calories), it was pure crab.(sorry no pic of the interior) but trust me when I say it was absolutely crab-licious…even the outer fried part added a crispy element, without a heaviness. Tartar sauce was good, and the garlic fries were perfect. Just enough fresh garlic without making them soggy. This was the perfect way to start our weekend away. Would not hesitate to start another trip at RDU here.
